Lisa and Andrea are joined by Marci Warhaft who shares some advice on how parents need to talk to their kids and teens about overeating during covid19.
Marci is a published author, Personal Trainer, Body Image expert, founder of the Fit vs Fiction Body image workshops and blogger for The Huffington Post. She was selected as one of Canada's Top 100 Health influencers for 2018 by Optimyz magazine. Like too many people these days, Marci struggled with body image and self-esteem issues for most of her life. Feeling like she could never live up to society’s unrealistic beauty standards, she often resorted to extreme and dangerous diet and exercise techniques that resulted in serious emotional, psychological and physical damage that wreaked havoc on her life for the better part of 30 years. Marci’s battle started in her teens and continued into her adult years until she was lucky enough to find recovery. Her amazing recovery and ability to turn trauma into triumph has been her catalyst for reaching out to other young men and women who are facing the same obstacles she did. Fit vs Fiction allows Marci to tell her story in an engaging and meaningful way. Her in-depth group seminars and one on one counselling allows her to connect with her audience by focusing on real-life experiences and examples. Fit vs Fiction is an interactive experience that uses age appropriate pictures and stories to empower kids of all ages with the tools and information they need to tune out the negative/dangerous messages regularly thrown at them by the media and marketers trying to profit from their low self-esteem. Marci’s workshops dissect the myths related to beauty and fitness so that boys and girls can grow up with the self-confidence they deserve.Marci’s Fit vs Fiction workshops for adults, are an invaluable resource for parents, teachers, coaches and anyone who has kids in their lives they care about, as they offer crucial information when it comes to raising healthy, happy children in an images obsessed society. Her adult workshops offer tips on what danger signs to look out for, how to spot potential body image/eating disorder issues and practical advice on what to do about it. By sharing her story openly and honestly, Marci gives others a safe environment to share their own questions and concerns. Self-worth shouldn’t be measured in Pounds.

Ep #934: The Jagged Road to Healthy Living & the Importance of Self-Care Jun 23, 2020

Many people have a fear of embarking on leading a more organic lifestyle. As guest Kyyeetha (Ky) Archinard put it, the response is typically something like, "So now I guess we're just going to eat grass."But, it doesn't have to be as rough of a road as you might imagine. Sometimes, it just takes one thing to get you on the path to healthier eating.
Ky has dedicated her time to educating and coaching people on approaching this transition. Taking clients on a field trip through their pantries has helped to transform so many lives. "Healing begins with nature" became the slogan for one of her companies because that is what she believes.
Listen as Ky joins Lisa Davis to share her journey to healthier living, the motivations that encouraged her to "gut and rebuild" her pantry, and how she and her family are benefiting from that decision.

Ep #933: Yoga for the Wounded Heart: A Self-Care Guide Jun 18, 2020
    Show notes

    Send us Fan Mail

Orphaned in her early teens and shuttled between abusive foster homes, Tatiana Forero Puerta found herself in her early twenties in New York City, haunted by the memories of her tumultuous youth and suicidal.
Following emergency hospitalization, she was advised by her doctor to take up yoga. Over days, weeks, months, and then years, she embraced yoga’s honesty and discipline -- delving more deeply into its wisdom, literature, and, vitally, its practice.
In so doing, yoga healed her scars, opened her soul to forgiveness, and allowed her to reconcile herself with a past that had threatened to snuff out her life.
Tatiana's book, Yoga for the Wounded Heart, is an unsparingly honest memoir of a childhood lost and of courage and resilience gained. It’s also an exploration of the fundamentals of yoga... as a technology that focuses our awareness, as a practical application of mindfulness and attention to what is really going on in our lives and bodies, and as a vehicle for the body to guide the mind and heart toward healing.
Listen as Tatiana joins Lisa Davis to share her personal story, as well as how yoga is a viable tool to heal physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health.

    Developing Everyday Intuition Course:
If you were attracted to this course, you probably already know that you are intuitive! We all are. And contrary to popular belief, you can strengthen your intuitive abilities and put them to good use in daily life.
That's what this course is all about.
This course is an expanded version of the audio-only intuition development course featured on the Insight Timer app. So, this course includes each of the 10 audio lessons on Insight Timer as well as both visual and written feedback related to the practice targets. You'll also have additional lesson content in the form of video, audio, and text.
Specifically, I'll cover more about the science of intuition; answer some of the most common questions about intuition in greater detail; and provide additional practice exercises, plus feedback for each of these.
Both practice and feedback have been found to be extremely important in strengthening psychic skills, so I am very happy to be able to offer that here.
By the end of this course, you should have a good foundation in what psychic sensing is, learn how to recognize your natural psychic strengths, and further develop them. The ultimate goal is to recognize that you are far more intuitive than you realized, and you can put your newly enhanced skills to use in daily life.
    The 10 modules:
Overview of Everyday Intuition (plus a practice exercise)
Your Psychic Centers and Senses, Part I
Overview of chakras 1-4 and their respective psychic senses; introduction to the palm chakras, plus exercises
