We’re diving into EMOTIONAL eating today, and getting to the heart of WHY we do it, and how to MANAGE it so you can feel better.
First up, we’re talking about your BRAIN, of course, and why it does the silly (but biologically important!) things it does.
And then we’ll put together a super simple (but not easy) 3-step plan that you can use for EMOTIONAL eating, and so many other times in your life when you’d rather escape your feelings.

This is a big one. We’re talking about how to CHANGE, and that really covers it all:
    Wanna change your body?
    Your habits?
    Your LIFE?
Then you need to know and understand THIS.
(And yes, I’m intentionally leaving it at that! There are no step-by-step instructions today, or practical advice - this episode is all about a single concept. And it’s probably the most important concept you’ll ever need, if you’re looking for CHANGE.)

GOALS, Pt. 4: Achieving Your Wildest Dreams Jun 28, 2020
    Show notes

We made it! This is Part FOUR of the GOALS series, and it’s the most important one: what to do when you achieve your wildest dreams.
You think it’s all going to be puppies and rainbows on the other side of this GOAL work, don’t you? Well… I mean, there might be puppies and there might be rainbows, but also? There might be more mindset work to be done!
Today on the Fitness Matters podcast, we’re chatting about life after achieving your GOAL and I’m sharing how reaching a recent revenue goal made me… ANGRY?
    Yep!
The phenomenon we’re discussing - cognitive dissonance - is the reason why some people gain back all the weight they lost, or run one race and then never again.
And if you don’t want that to be YOU, there’s a practical step you can take NOW to ensure your long-term success.

    Show notes

Are you afraid to set GOALS? You’re not alone, my friend, and that’s the topic of this week’s Fitness Matters podcast! (...and the last two weeks, and next week!)
If you’ve been struggling with setting a GOAL, there’s a pretty good chance you fall into one of two main camps:
😱 You’re afraid you WON’T get your goal, or
    😱 You’re afraid you WILL
Crazy, right? But, yes, we can be afraid of just about anything. That’s the way our brains are designed! And once you realize this why this is and how to get around it, you’ll be unstoppable.
I have some ridiculously FUN and surprisingly practical advice for the ONE THING you need to do to overcome your fears.

GOALS, Pt. 2: How to Set GOALS Jun 14, 2020
    Show notes

It’s Part TWO of the GOALS series, and I’m really excited about this one, because it’s nice and practical. There are five steps! And the steps are simple!
    But they’re not easy. 😄
We’re not just setting a GOAL willy-nilly here. We’re setting a GOAL that you can actually *get.* And that means we’re diving into your brain with these five steps:
    🤯 Have an idea
    🤯 State it clearly
🤯 Put a number on it
🤯 Put a feeling on it, and
🤯 Figure out why you CAN’T have it
This is a POWERFUL process that’s going to make *getting* your goal feel like a cake-walk in comparison!
During our conversation today, I’m sharing stories from MY goal-setting experience to help you understand how messy and ultimately worthwhile these steps are.

GOALS, Pt. 1: Why We Set GOALS Jun 07, 2020
    Show notes

Here we go! This is the first in a 4-part series about GOALS, and I am so excited to share this with you. Today we’re talking about WHY we (generally) set goals and why I think YOU (yes, you, personally) should set them for yourself.
This conversation is the foundation of everything you need to know about setting personal GOALS - WHY is it a good idea? And WHAT will setting goals do for you?
The first, and simplest, reason WHY you should set goals is just because you CAN. I mean this both philosophically and practically… as in, you are *capable* of setting goals. Don’t believe me? I’ll offer you some definitive proof, and make the case for stretching your goal-setting muscle onto something bigger and more interesting for yourself.
Find out how setting goals for yourself
✨ Makes you better at more than just the skills you’ll learn
✨ Is a lot like finding out that you’re Spiderman

Learning to TRUST yourself is one of the kindest and most important things you can do in life in general, but also, specifically, on your way to meeting your fitness goals.

On this week’s episode of the Fitness Matters podcast, we’re diving into what it takes to TRUST yourself, and why that includes:

Defining Personal SUCCESS May 17, 2020
    Show notes

I think at this point, you know what a big fan I am of setting GOALS, right? But there’s a whole ‘nother layer of goals that we haven’t discussed, and that’s what we’re digging into with this week’s episode of the Fitness Matters podcast.
Have you ever wondered why you sometimes reach your goal, but don’t feel entirely satisfied with the way it turned out? It’s likely that you had a hidden definition of PERSONAL SUCCESS that you didn’t realize!
These sneaky thoughts have the power to derail your progress or leave you confused and unhappy, even when you’re making progress toward your goal.
So, let’s chat about what you can DO to feel successful when you reach your goal:
📌 Find the buried treasure (thought!)
📌 Decide what you want to think instead, and
    📌 PRACTICE
No matter your goal or your definition of PERSONAL SUCCESS, you are in control of your results!

The Big "BUT" May 10, 2020
    Show notes

There are some pretty obvious jokes about big “BUTs” on this one, but don’t let that distract you from how important this topic is!
The only thing I remember from college is this simple concept about language that I learned in Philosophy 101: Everything after the “but” is the true focus of the sentence.
And this applies to you SO much more than you think! Because you? Have some hidden “buts” in your life that are holding you back from getting what you want.
During this week’s episode of the Fitness Matters podcast, we’re exploring why the word BUT is so powerful, how it’s stopping you from being happy, and what you can do about it.
Because of course there’s a way around the BIG “BUT."
