Get Rid of Your People-Pleasing Habit with Dr. Christine Li Nov 25, 2021
    Show notes

Send Dr. Li a text here. Please leave your email address if you would like a reply, thanks.

So many of us suffer from people-pleasing. Why do we do this? Why do we allow the needs of others come before our own?

My thoughts on the subject are covered in this podcast episode. From conditioning as children to do things we really don't like or want to do to receive praise, attention and appreciation to not respecting ourselves and our own time enough as adults, the act of people-pleasing can be a difficult cycle to break.

Overbooked, overcommitted, and stressed out? It’s time to find the strength, the courage within you, to speak up, communicate your needs, let your expectations of yourself and others be known and set boundaries.

If you would like to learn to let go of false belief systems and create healthy connections with yourself and others that embrace and reinforce mutually respectful, beneficial, and thriving relationships, then this episode is for you!

    Timestamps:

    • [1:38] The habit of respecting our own time
    • [3:11] People-pleasing is a difficult cycle to break
    • [6:13] You will do your best when you are communicating what your needs are
    • [7:56] Let’s get out of that false belief system where you feel less than others
    • [11:11] It’s ironic that focusing more on yourself makes you more powerful and a change agent for others
    • [12:52] Getting your mind out of a fear state, focusing more on yourself and deciding that things can only get better

The Episode Every Grandparent (and New Parent) Needs to Hear with Donne Davis Nov 11, 2021
    Show notes

Send Dr. Li a text here. Please leave your email address if you would like a reply, thanks.

Relationships can be so complicated, right? The relationship between a new parent and their own parents can be one of the most beautiful, successful, and useful bonds when it comes to the strengthening of a family -- but it can also be a fraught and confusing relationship to get right.

My special guest, Donne Davis, has spent the past 18 years exploring the joys (and tricky parts) of being a grandma while also helping thousands of other grandmas do the same for themselves. In this episode, Donne drops lots of knowledge bombs about being a grandma, navigating new relationships, aging, and living life to the fullest.

Donne is the founder of the GaGa Sisterhood, an international membership organization for enthusiastic grandmas to connect, grow, learn and share. She founded the organization in 2003 after witnessing the birth of her first granddaughter and going completely “gaga.” When she came back down to earth, she realized she was not the first grandma to feel this way or the first grandma to be challenged by today’s new parenting methods.

Her mission is to inspire grandmas to keep growing along with their children and grandchildren and to foster understanding between the generations. She coaches grandmas on how to build mutual respect, trust and empathy with the parents of their grandchildren so that they can be a unified team in raising the next generation.

Donne is the author of "When Being a Grandma Isn’t So Grand: 4 Keys to L.O.V.E. Your Grandchild’s Parents" — a practical guide for handling the most common grandparenting challenges. The book is available on Amazon. She writes and speaks about her experiences and observations of grandparenting on her award-winning blog at https://gagasisterhood.com, in her monthly newsletter, and to community organizations.

This is a special double feature of my guest Linda Samuels, professional organizer. This second episode is a review of what transpired and the important lessons I learned from Linda about handling clutter, organizing for success, and living well.
