In this episode, I am sharing six great tricks that you can rely on to develop a smoother way of working and to keep overwhelm at bay. Feeling overwhelmed is not fun and interferes with how we see ourselves, how we see our work and how we view our future opportunities. When any of us feels overwhelmed, we are not functioning at our best. If your goal is to get past the overwhelm to restore that feeling of wellness that we all crave, then you should definitely stay tuned!

    Timestamps:
    • [2:25] Christine shares that we are ready for creativity, growth and action when we are in a state of flow.
    • [4:02] “Nothing is really that critical… Most of us are not dealing with life or death situations and issues on a day to day basis.”
    • [5:24] ”When we get all caught up in being everything for everybody, and we try to make everything just so imperfect, we tend to lose sight of the fact that our brains typically have the answers that we're looking for.”
    • [10:38] Dr. Li talks about giving ourselves permission to take shortcuts.

Are you striving for success, but not getting the results you've been hoping for? My special guest, Kerri Altom, has developed a great strategy and technique for getting to the root of what might be getting in your way. In this episode, you're going to hear how Kerri's work with leaders of all different varieties helped her realize that too often leaders skip the critical step of getting clear on their values, priorities and purpose. Our conversation covers the questions we need to ask ourselves to get really clear about what is important to us and what defines our sense of integrity. By the end of the episode, you will understand why integrity is something that can really anchor your work and lead you straight to the results that you want.

Kerri Altom is an award winning writer, educator and entrepreneur. As an integrity instigator, Kerri shows you how to define your values and align your life. With her signature framework, The RISE Way, she is transforming struggling entrepreneurs into impact-making profit-taking leaders of a brighter world. Kerri is also a business coach, leadership consultant and the founder and CEO of RISE Media Group

    Timestamps:
    • [4:47] “After decades of doing that kind of work and working with a range of different kinds of leaders, I came to see these common patterns and these common struggles…”
    • [8:07] “Somebody who has identified who they are, what they believe in what their core values are. And they can convey that in a way that people can relate to. It builds trust, and it builds a sense of authority.”
    • [12:48] Kerri speaks of doing values exercises and visioning to go deeper into explaining who you are and what you believe in.
    • [19:52] Kerri gives us a great gardening analogy about perfectionism and the fear based stories we tell ourselves, then shares how to really get to the root of the problem… not just plucking at the surface level.

How to Run Your Online Business Like an 8-Figure Entrepreneur with James Wedmore Apr 07, 2022
    Show notes

Send Dr. Li a text here. Please leave your email address if you would like a reply, thanks.

What does it take to build a successful business? You’re going to find out all the details from my special guest today, who happens to be my trusted and beloved Business Coach James Wedmore. He will give you an in-depth look at how much personal development work is required for you to show up in the way you need to to have a thriving business. There is a critical component – it's actually a way of being – that will allow you to nurture your business and to see challenges and pathways that are ahead of you very clearly.

I encourage you to listen to this episode, even if you're not a business owner or an aspiring business owner, because there's so many great lessons about living a good life in this episode.

For 10 years, James Wedmore taught entrepreneurs and online business owners how to leverage the power of online video and YouTube marketing to reach more people, share their message and convert more customers. In 2016, James made a massive shift to focus on a big gap missing in the marketplace: the mindset needed for entrepreneurship. He launched a totally woo-woo podcast, the Mind Your Business Podcast and his signature program, Business By Design. Today he helps coaches, experts, content creators, and authors not only to craft better marketing messages but also how to ditch the “hustle” mentality and create success from the inside out.

    Timestamps:
    • [5:35] James shares his lightbulb moment that happened in 2007… and realized what he wanted to do in business and in life.
    • [10:41] “We tend to spend, when we're new in business, spend more time, effort and energy in the things that are urgent, reactive, and seemingly important, but tend to actually be low value…”
    • [17:36] “There are countless studies done of companies that have seen anywhere from 200 to 400% increase in productivity and output without any increase in costs, or labor or anything, simply because they made integrity, their number one core value in their company.”
    • [18:43] James talks about giving your word… and making it matter. “It does matter. And we have to make it matter. Don't say you're going to do it if you're not going to do it.”

There comes a time in most podcasters' experience, where they do an episode on the resistance to doing an episode. I haven't been resisting this one as much as I have felt overwhelmed by my mounting to-do list and the state of the world. If you are feeling not ready to take on your next project or task, I would love for you to consider some of these tips that I'm going to share with you so that you can find yourself in a new headspace one that is more inclined to take action to move yourself forward any way you can.

It is really easy to get discouraged or to even give up when we feel that our efforts are not being responded to, or even heard. So how are we supposed to pursue our big vision, dreams and plans if we don't know how to ask people for help powerfully or effectively? We are lucky today to have my special guest, Indrani Goradia, on the show. She is going to give us a powerful lesson in asking for what we need and sticking around to make sure we get the best outcomes possible for ourselves.

Indrani is the founder of RAFT, Resilience for Advocates through Foundational Training. They are focused on helping staff of sexual and domestic violence organizations to make self care a regular part of their personal and professional lives.

    Timestamps:
    • [9:22] Indrani talks about how she came to realize that it was the sexual and organizational advocates who her RAFT organization could reach.
    • [12:32] “The only thing I knew was that I didn't have a choice. When our mission comes to us, and the mission presents itself, and we say yes, I will do it. We no longer have a choice.”
    • [25:34] “The first thing to know about asking for help is the thing that you're asking for, is it your business to ask?”
    • [34:40] “Be brave enough to make the ask and be humble enough to say thank you to the no, in the most magnanimous way.”

This episode is a fun one! Not only are you going to hear about all sorts of issues like overcoming nervousness and worry, developing self trust, and principles of improving your productivity and actually taking action but you're also going to hear about ice cream and puppies. Why? Because in this episode, the tables are turned and Danya Douglas-Hunt, my special guest on the last episode is interviewing me. It's a little bit of a change in my style of setting up these podcast episodes. But this experiment really worked. We thought we would get to know each other more, while enabling you to see a little bit more closely about how I think, how I feel and who I am.

Danya is a former Olympic athletic therapist and strength and conditioning coach, turned multi-passionate entrepreneur, who now coaches high-performing entrepreneurs to their next level of income, impact, and inner growth. She is a certified Neuro Linguistic Programming Practitioner, a life and success coach, a time techniques practitioner, a clinical hypnotherapist and an Emotion Freedom Techniques facilitator. Outside of her one-on-one and small group coaching, she is trained by and coaches on James Wedmore’s team and does performance coaching for Pure Life Organics.

    Timestamps:
    • [4:49] “To the body excited and nervous. There's no difference. It's just how we label it. It's just energy in our body…”
    • [5:18] Dr. Christine talks about her own initial nervousness being with a fear of underperforming or under delivering.
    • [8:58] Dr. Christine talks about the impetus for getting her into the work she does and what really gets her out of bed in the morning.
    • [19:17] “I think the same works for the mental load that we're carrying. We have control over that. And we have a lot of responsibility to go lightly when we can.”
