Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s ninety-first lesson on Pokémon biology. And for this class today, we will be discussing Cloyster: the Bivalve Pokémon and evolved form of Shellder. This water/ice type has a shell that’s harder than diamonds, able to withstand a bomb blast or missile. Now what kind of mad man would test this theory? Well... in today's lesson, you'll find out. Cloyster's insides are rarely seen because it usually keeps its shell closed, which is covered in sharp spikes. The bodily function it uses to propel the spikes while attacking is also used for swimming. "But what is this mysterious bodily function?," you might ask. Guess you gotta tune into the lesson to find out! So make sure you take plenty of notes, students.

    090: Shellder Apr 20, 2022
    Show notes

Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s ninetieth lesson on Pokémon biology. Today's class is all about Shellder: the Bivalve Pokémon! This little creature is very small and soft on the inside, but it has quite a hard shell! Seriously, this thing is harder than a diamond. But like... don't go testing this out by slamming your Shellder around. Shellder is also useful for any jewelry lovers because it can make beautiful pearls! These pearls are made from sand mixed with the Shellder's bodily fluids. "Which fluids", you might ask? It's best not to think about it. There's a bit more to learn about Shellder, so please take notes, students!

    089: Muk Apr 13, 2022
    Show notes

Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s eighty-ninth lesson on Pokémon biology. And today's class is a special one because it's our first field trip! We were invited to the Alola region to visit Prof. Palm's conservation facility for Muk: the Sludge Pokémon and evolved form of Grimer. Muk is honestly just a bigger version of Grimer... and that's mostly it! It's very toxic, killing plant life and causing Pokémon and people to become very ill. Unfortunately, Muk have been going extinct for some time, so research specialists like Prof. Palm have opened sludge ponds for Muk to thrive and feed on waste! There's plenty to learn about Muk, including its colorful Alolan variant, so please take detailed notes!

    088: Grimer Apr 06, 2022
    Show notes

Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s eighty-eighth lesson on Pokémon biology. And for today's class, we will be discussing Grimer: the Sludge Pokémon. We're not gonna beat around the bush... this Pokémon is nasty. Believed to come from sludge exposed to X-rays from the moon, Grimer is a poison type Pokémon that makes its home wherever it can find waste. Dirty cities, factories, sewers - the filthier, the better for Grimer! It also has an Alolan variant, which is actually much prettier to look at. Still ugly though. Grimer was apparently brought to Alola to help deal with the excess pollution. See? Even the ugliest of Pokémon can be useful! There's more to learn about Grimer, so please take plenty of notes!

    087: Dewgong Mar 30, 2022
    Show notes

Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s eighty-seventh lesson on Pokémon biology. For today's class, we are learning about Dewgong: the Sea Lion Pokémon and evolved form of Seel. This water/ice type looks similar to Seel, but has a more streamline body. It stores thermal energy in its body, allowing it to survive in some of the most intense freezing weather! And although it loves the cold, Dewgong can be found sunbathing on the beach after a nice meal, which usually consists of Wishiwashi. What a life, eh? I'm so jealous. Be sure to take plenty of notes for today's lesson because Prof. Jacob mixes things up by having students submit poems about Dewgong! Think you can write a great Dewgong poem? Send us an email or tweet!

    086: Seel Mar 23, 2022
    Show notes

Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s eighty-sixth lesson on Pokémon biology. In today's lesson, we will be discussing Seel: the Sea Lion Pokémon. This water type is covered in light blue fur and has a small horn on top of its head, which it uses the break through thick ice. Its a big chonker with plenty of blubber to retain heat, allowing it to swim in temperatures as low as -40° Fahrenheit. Now I'm sure you're wondering, "what happens at -41°F"? And the answers is: it instantly turns into a blubbery, furry icicle. I'm kidding! We actually don't know. But what we do know is that Seel becomes more active as the temperature drops, so it loves to hunt at night. There's more to learn about Seel, so be sure to take plenty of notes, students!

    085: Dodrio Mar 16, 2022
    Show notes

Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s eighty-fifth lesson on Pokémon biology. And today, we will be learning about Dodrio: the Triple Bird Pokémon. Doduo is back and better than ever with three heads now! Each of these three heads have distinct emotions: sorrow, anger, and joy. They use all three heads to strategize together, but sometimes they can get a big brain malfunction and become immobilized. The three heads also bicker quite a bit, constantly fighting each other over food. But doesn't Dodrio have one stomach? Does it really matter which heads eat since they all get food? Make it make sense. There's more to learn about Dodrio, so be sure to take detailed notes. And don't forget to tell us who won today's debate!

    084: Doduo Mar 09, 2022
    Show notes

Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s eighty-fourth lesson on Pokémon biology. The lesson today is all about Doduo: the Twin Bird Pokémon. But what really makes a "bird Pokémon"? Because despite it being a normal/flying type, Doduo actually sucks at flying! Its wings are practically non-existent. But what it lacks in flight, Doduo makes up for by running quickly... kinda. Doduo can reach speeds of up to 60 mph, which might sound like a lot, but it's really not compared to other Pokémon like Rapidash or Arcanine. Time to train more, Doduo - 60 mph is weak sauce! There's more to learn about Doduo, including its two telepathic brains, so be sure to take detailed notes!

    083: Farfetch'd Mar 02, 2022
    Show notes

Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s eighty-third lesson on Pokémon biology. Today's lesson is on Farfetch'd: the Wild Duck Pokémon. When you see a Farfetch'd, you're probably thinking "oh, that's just a stick it's holding." But you'd be wrong. That's not simply a stick... that its life. Farfetch'ds are always seen carrying leek stalks, which they use for weapons, nesting material, and food if they're desperate. So think twice before ever attempting to take a Farfetch'd's leek because it will defend it with its life. The fighting type Galarian Farfetch'd is even stronger than the Kantonian variant. It utilizes its muscles to carry even bigger leeks, which it uses like swords and javelins. There's more to learn about Farfetch'd, so please be sure to take detailed notes!

    082: Magneton Feb 23, 2022
    Show notes

Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s eighty-second lesson on Pokémon biology. And today's class is all about Magneton: the Magnet Pokémon and evolved form of Magnemite. This Pokémon is quite literally just three Magnemites linked together magnetically. And although this may result in 3x the electrical power, their brain power is not tripled. Sorry, Magneton. It's also notorious for disrupting electronic devices. If you've ever heard any loud sirens around your city, that's probably a Magneton outbreak warning. You don't mess around with those! Thankfully, modern day Pokéballs are technologically advanced enough to withstand Magneton's mechanical disruptions. But you know what is susceptible to Magneton's powers? Recording devices... as you'll discover in today's lesson. There's more to learn about Magneton, so please take plenty of notes!
