    081: Magnemite Feb 16, 2022
    Show notes

Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s eighty-first lesson on Pokémon biology. In today's lesson, we will be discussing Magnemite: the Magnet Pokémon. There's not much to this electric/steel type - just a few nuts, bolts, a big eye, and a couple magnets. These magnets on its side are used to create an electromagnetic field that reverses the effects of gravity, thus allowing Magnemite to float! Has anyone ever considered using these magnets on skateboards or something? Then we could finally have real hoverboards! No one steal my idea. TM, TM! If your Magnemite is ever drained of electricity and falls to the ground, don't panic. Simply give it some batteries to juice it up and recharge it. If the batteries don't work, then throw your Magnemite at the nearest powerline... that'll definitely be sure to wake it up. And there's more to learn about Magnemite, so take good notes, students!

    080: Slowbro Feb 09, 2022
    Show notes

Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s eightieth lesson on Pokémon biology. For today’s class, we are learning about Slowbro: the Hermit Crab Pokémon. Slowbro is supposedly the “evolved” form of Slowpoke, but according to the Pokédex, it’s not really much of an evolution. Slowbro is essentially just a Slowpoke… with a Shellder attached to its tail. And that it’s it! That’s all there is to it! It’s a two-for-one kind of deal. This Shellder secretes a poison that causes the now bipedal Slowpoke to lose the ability to feel pain. Edgy, right? There’s more to learn about Slowbro, including its Galarian variant and Mega Evolution, so take plenty of notes today!

    079: Slowpoke Feb 02, 2022
    Show notes

Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s seventy-ninth lesson on Pokémon biology. And in today's class, we will be discussing Slowpoke: the Dopey Pokémon. Geez - kinda rude. Slowpoke is a water/psychic type in the Kanto region and just a psychic type in the Galar region. While this little pink fella might be adorable, it's not the brightest bulb in the box. Slowpoke is notorious for being a bit slow and forgetful. But the real appeal to Slowpoke is its tail. Secreting a sweet, delicious substance, Slowpoke's tail is a highly desired treat for both humans and Pokémon alike. They're commonly used in recipes or sold at scalper prices by Team Rocket. So beware of any shady characters trying to sell you "special" Slowpoke tails. Stranger danger, students! And there's more to learn about Slowpoke, so be sure to take plenty of notes!

    Show notes

Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s seventy-eighth lesson on Pokémon biology. In today's class, we will be discussing Rapidash, the Fire Horse Pokémon and Unique Horse Pokémon. Like its predecessor, Rapidash has two variants: a fire type Kantonian variant and a psychic/fairy type Galarian variant. The fire type Rapidash is covered in flames... go figure. It's very agile and can reach speeds of up to 150mph, moving so fast that its hooves barely touch the ground! In the Galar region, Rapidash has beautiful blue and purple fur on its mane and tail. Its horn is larger than the Kantonian variant, and it uses the psychic powers stored within its horn to pierce through sheets of metal. Now why is this valuable? Your guess is as good as ours. There's more to learn about Rapidash, so please take detailed notes, students!

    Show notes

Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s seventy-seventh lesson on Pokémon biology. Today's class is all about Ponyta: the Fire Horse Pokémon and Unique Horn Pokémon. Two different descriptions for two different types of Ponyta! The fire type Kantonian Ponyta has a cream-colored body and a fiery mane & tail. It has mad ups and can soar across tall buildings with a single bound! You'd definitely want a Kantonian Ponyta on your basketball team. And then there's the psychic type Galarian Ponyta, which has a white body and fluffy, cotton candy-like fur for its mane and tail. This Ponyta has healing abilities stored in its horn, which can be used to treat mild wounds. And it's even known to be able to read the contents of your heart by staring into your eyes, observing every facet of your soul. You can't fool Galarian Ponyta. It knows all... it knows what you've done. But there's more to learn about Ponyta, so be sure to take plenty of notes!

    076: Golem Jan 12, 2022

Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s seventy-sixth lesson on Pokémon biology. It's the start of a New Year of learning! And we'd like to apologize for not having a lesson last week. You can thank Mr. Kurtis for throwing a destructive New Year's party at the school. And speaking of destructive, today we're discussing Golem: the Megaton Pokémon and final evolved form of Geodude. This heavy-hitting Pokémon is capable of rolling down hills at high speeds, crushing anything in its path. It's also known to blow itself up, using the force to launch from mountain to mountain. So for those of you living in the mountains, you might wanna reinforce your homes... or relocate. Wouldn't want a Golem blasting through your roof now would ya? There's more to learn about Golem, including its rock/electric Alolan variant, so be sure to take plenty of notes!

    075: Graveler Dec 29, 2021
    Show notes

Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s seventy-fifth lesson on Pokémon biology. We finish up the year with our lesson on Graveler: the Rock Pokémon and evolved form of Geodude. This big ole ball is a high roller... meaning it loves to roll around on mountains. See what I did there? Rolling is Graveler's main form of transportation, and it can even reach speeds of up to 60 mph! Pieces of its body can fall off, but it doesn't mind. Graveler can restore its rocky body over time. But as tough as it is, Graveler will most likely die if it rolls into a river. I'm serious. It's been reported that Graveler will straight up explode if it rolls into rivers! Listen, this is what the Pokédex says, alright? And there's even more to learn about Graveler, including it's rock/electric Alolan variant, so take plenty of notes!

    074: Geodude Dec 22, 2021
    Show notes

Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s seventy-fourth lesson on Pokémon biology. This lesson is all about Geodude: the Rock Pokémon. And guess what? It's a rock/ground type too! Who would've thought? Geodude is an orb-shaped Pokémon that frequently gets mistaken for a rock. If it gets stepped on, Geodude has been known to start angrily swinging at its aggressor. I mean, they hang out on hiking trails a lot, so they're kinda asking for it. There's also a rock/electric Alolan variant, which is primarily made of magnetic rock! And there's even more to learn about Geodude, so make sure you take plenty of notes, students!

    073: Tentacruel Dec 15, 2021
    Show notes

Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s seventy-third lesson on Pokémon biology. For class today, we will be discussing Tentacruel: the Jellyfish Pokémon and evolved form of Tentacool. This Pokémon has a total of 80 long tentacles that can stretch and retract, which it uses to trap its prey in a net-like shape. All of these tentacles are poisonous, so no handshakes or high-fives with a Tentacruel, trainers! Similar to Tentacool, it has red orbs on its body. These orbs are used to express emotion, communicate with other Tentacruel, and even alert others to danger. So if you see flashing red lights in the water, you're not hallucinating - that's probably a Tentacruel in danger! Well, don't just stand there... DO SOMETHING! There's more to learn about Tentacruel, so be sure to take plenty of notes for today's pop quiz!

    072: Tentacool Dec 08, 2021
    Show notes

Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s seventy-second lesson on Pokémon biology. In today’s class, we will be discussing Tentacool: the Jellyfish Pokémon. This squishy, water/poison type loves to just vibe out in the water - drifting freely in the currents. Believe it or not, 99% of its body is made up of water! And this comes in handy when Tentacool absorbs sunlight and refracts it using the water inside its body to create energy beams! But once you take Tentacool out of the water, it’s not so “cool” anymore. It kind of just shrivels up into a dehydrated mush pile. So trainers, don’t leave your Tentacools out of the water for too long or you’ll end up with a Tenta…pool! Like a pool of mush? Get it? I’ll stop. There’s more to learn, so make sure you take notes!
