    071: Victreebel Dec 01, 2021

Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s seventy-first lesson on Pokémon biology. For today's class, we will be discussing Victreebel: the Flycatcher Pokémon and final evolved form of Bellsprout. The first thing you'll notice about Victreebel is its large, gaping mouth, which it uses to swallow its prey whole! No chewing required - one big gulp is all it takes! Victreebel lures prey by using its sweet aroma, not to be mistaken for real honey. It's also been reported that Victreebel live in colonies in jungles, but no one that has ventured to these jungles have returned. So... how do we know they live in jungle colonies then? Who reported this information? And who keeps sending people back to these jungles to meet their fate!? Anyway, there's a quiz today, so be sure to take notes!

    Show notes

Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s seventieth lesson on Pokémon biology. In class today, we will be discussing Weepinbell: the Flycatcher Pokémon. This bell-shaped grass/poison type will swallow anything with its big mouth that comes its way! Weepinbell then dissolves its prey with strong acids in its stomach. If prey passes by that's too large to swallow, no worries! Weepinbell does what any sensible Pokémon would do and uses its razor-sharp leaves to eviscerate these larger creatures, slicing them apart bit by bit until they are a pile of chopped carnage. Hey, who wants lunch!? There's more to learn about Weepinbell, so take notes please!

    Show notes

Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s sixty-ninth lesson on Pokémon biology. In today's lesson, we will be discussing Bellsprout: the Flower Pokémon. This grass/poison type is a tiny little plant-like Pokémon with a bell-shaped head and big, pink lips. Are those lips? I'll let someone else figure that out. Like Oddish, Bellsprout has roots for feet, which it uses to absorb water through the soil. However, while Bellsprout is rooted, it is stationary and unable to flee. Let's just hope Bellsprout doesn't need a drink during a battle... because it would be useless. Actually, it's probably best not to use Bellsprout during any battle at all if possible. There's a bit more to learn about Bellsprout, so make sure you tune in and take notes!

    Show notes

Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s sixty-eighth lesson on Pokémon biology. And for the class today, we will be discussing Machamp: the Superpower Pokémon and final evolved form of Machop. Machamp is an incredibly strong and skilled fighting type Pokémon, and it supposedly knows every martial arts style in the world. Machamp is also very fast, capable of throwing 500 punches in a second with its four muscular arms. Absolute insanity. But you gotta wonder... does Machamp give good massages? I mean, sure it's strong, but four buff arms carefully massaging your back just sounds delightful! Anyway, despite its incredible strength, Machamp has terrible dexterity and cannot do delicate work without getting its arms twisted. So wait, do massages count as delicate work? I need answers, people... and a massage! Anyway, there's more to learn about Machamp, so listen and take notes!

    Show notes

Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s sixty-seventh lesson on Pokémon biology. Today's class will be about Machoke: the Superpower Pokémon and evolved form of Machop. This super ripped Pokémon has muscles as hard as steel (despite not being a steel type) and is strong enough to lift a dump truck with one hand! Machoke is so sculpted that artists frequently use it for... sculptures. Its excellent figure make for great motifs in the art community! Machoke also sports a power-save belt, which if removed, can cause Machoke to use its full strength. Has anyone ever successfully removed this belt? Doubtful. If they have, they didn't live to tell the tale. There's more to learn about Machoke, so make sure you take notes, students!

Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s sixty-sixth lesson on Pokémon biology. In today's lesson, we will be discussing Machop: the Superpower Pokémon! This gray-colored, child-like Pokémon packs quite a punch. Machop's entire body is covered in muscle, and it's strong enough to throw 100 adults. Now you're probably wondering, "does that mean it throws 100 adults back-to-back or 100 adults at once?" And the answer is... yes. In the wild, Machop has also been known to train regularly by lifting Gravelers. And no matter how much it trains, it never gets sore. What an absolute mad lad. There's even more to learn about Machop, so make sure you're taking notes, students!

    065: Alakazam Oct 20, 2021
    Show notes

Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s sixty-fifth lesson on Pokémon biology. In today's class, we will be discussing Alakazam: the Psi Pokémon and final evolved form of Abra. Hey, guys... this Pokémon is pretty dang smart. So much so in fact, that Alakazam has an estimated IQ of at least 5,000. On top of that, Alakazam has an incredible memory and is capable of remembering every experience in its entire life since it hatched as an Abra. Every laugh, every love, every good day, every traumatizing event - it remembers all. So if you ever upset an Alakazam, just remember that it is not physically capable of forgiving and forgetting... just forgiving. This is a jam-packed lesson with a ton of information on Alakazam, so please take plenty of notes in preparation for today's pop quiz!

    064: Kadabra Oct 13, 2021
    Show notes

Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s sixty-fourth lesson on Pokémon biology. Today, we are learning about Kadabra: the Psi Pokémon and evolved form of Abra. Ever seen a Kadabra and had your head start hurting? Well, that's because this psychic type Pokémon emits headache-inducing alpha waves. These same waves also cause machinery to go crazy. Is your clock spinning out of control? That's a Kadabra... or a broken clock. Is the toaster catching fire? Probably a Kadabra... or you overcooked your toast. Either way, Kadabra make for absolutely terrible IT support. Kadabra is also rumored to have originally formed from a "transformed child with psychic abilities." Frankly, that's just asinine - probably the most outlandish Pokédex entry we've seen yet. And it's grounded in no scientific research at all. Who allowed this nonsense to be documented!? But there are more actual facts to learn about Kadabra, so take detailed notes!

    063: Abra Oct 06, 2021
    Show notes

Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s sixty-third lesson on Pokémon biology. The class today is all about Abra: the Psi Pokémon. This psychic Pokémon is usually seen with its eyes closed because it sleeps approximately 18 hours a day. If it doesn't sleep that much, Abra will temporarily lose its telekinetic abilities. Speaking of telekinesis, Abra has the ability to read minds! If it senses danger, Abra will immediately teleport to safety. So if you're hoping to catch an Abra in the wild, good luck! You either have to meditate and practice clearing your mind... OR just being stupid really helps. As long as there's not a whole lot of activity in that noggin, you should have a better chance at catching Abra. There's much more to learn about this awesome Pokémon, so take plenty of notes!

    062: Poliwrath Sep 29, 2021
    Show notes

Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s sixty-second lesson on Pokémon biology. In today's class, we will be discussing Poliwrath: the Tadpole Pokémon (again) and final evolved form of Poliwag. While it resembles Poliwhirl in many ways, this water/fighting type Pokémon is incredibly strong - capable of punching boulders to dust. It's almost entirely made of muscle, and it rarely gets tired, which makes Poliwrath an incredible endurance swimmer. Poliwrath also possesses the ability to... apparently run on water? What? Have we fact checked this claim? Because I have no idea. I just get paid to write these descriptions. Kidding... I don't get paid. There's much more to learn about Poliwrath, so please pay attention and take detailed notes!
