    051: Dugtrio Jul 14, 2021
    Show notes

Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s fifty-first lesson on Pokémon biology. In today's class, we will be discussing Dugtrio: the Mole Pokémon and evolved form of Diglett. But is it really an "evolved form"? Truth is, Dugtrio is essentially just identical Diglett triplets that originally came from one single Diglett body. Weird, right? And that's really the only major difference between Dugtrio and Diglett. However, like its predecessor, Dugtrio also has a ground/steel type Alolan form consisting of three Digletts with absolutely epic hair made of steel. Wait, if the hair is made of steel, then could you brush it? Would you have to use a metal brush? Why haven't any scientists tested this!? And as always, there's a pop quiz, so prepare yourselves!

    050: Diglett Jul 07, 2021
    Show notes

Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s fiftieth lesson on Pokémon biology. Wow! Has it really been 50 already!? For today's class, we will be discussing Diglett: the Mole Pokémon. One of the first things you'll notice upon seeing a Diglett is that it's only a head... or is it? Spoilers: there's more than a head there, but no one has ever actually seen Diglett's full body. Maybe it's shy? Self conscious of its body? Who knows. Either way, we're all about Diglett body positivity in Prof. Jacob's class! There's more to learn about this little creature, including its very own Alolan ground/steel type variant, so be sure to pay attention and take notes.

    049: Venomoth Jun 30, 2021
    Show notes

Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s forty-ninth lesson on Pokémon biology. For the lesson today, we will be discussing Venomoth: the Poison Moth Pokémon and evolved form of Venonat. When Venonat evolves into Venomoth, it loses its weirdly cute compound eyes and grows a pair of pale purple wings. Like Butterfree, you must be wary of coming too close to a Venomoth while in flight. Its wings are made of dust-like scales capable of poisoning or paralyzing you! With every winged flutter, there is a chance of death. How beautiful! And be sure to take notes for Prof. Jacob's pop quiz today!

    048: Venonat Jun 23, 2021
    Show notes

Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s forty-eighth lesson on Pokémon biology. In today's class, we will be discussing Venonat: the Insect Pokémon. This purple, fuzzy bug/poison type is an oddly adorable creature with large compound eyes, which can act as radars to help it navigate in darkness. And just when you think that's all those big red eyes can do... think again! Venonat's eyes are also apparently capable of shooting high-powered beams. Beams of what? Beams from where? Your guesses are as good as ours! Learn more about Venonat and take detailed notes in preparation for the Professor's pop quiz today!

    047: Parasect Jun 16, 2021
    Show notes

Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s forty-seventh lesson on Pokémon biology. For today's lesson, we will be discussing Parasect: the Mushroom Pokémon and evolved form of Paras. As with Paras, Parasect has a parasitic relationship with the tochukaso mushroom, which has now completely taken over its mind. This poor creature has been drained of nutrients, and when it's fully depleted, the mushroom forces the Parasect to suck the nutrients out of nearby trees. This process continues until all trees in the area are drained of nutrients... and even then, the tochukaso mushroom is never satisfied. This is hardcore stuff, trainers. Parasects truly deserve your love and affection because they're all going through it. There's plenty more to learn about Parasect, so take detailed notes for the quiz today!

    046: Paras Jun 09, 2021
    Show notes

Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s forty-sixth lesson on Pokémon biology. In class today, we will be discussing Paras: the Mushroom Pokémon. This tiny bug/grass type creature has mushrooms called tochukaso growing on its back. These mushrooms are parasitic and absorb nutrients from Paras in order to grow larger and gain full control of its brain. Yikes. That's actually pretty haunting. Paras is a poor Pokémon that has never had a single desire of its own since birth... let's try not think about it. These mushrooms aren't all bad! The tochukaso are also used by many humans for medicinal purposes, including extending life. So if you want your grandma to live to see 100, then pop some of these bad boys in her curry. And as always, we have another pop quiz today!

    045: Vileplume Jun 02, 2021
    Show notes

Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s forty-fifth lesson on Pokémon biology. Today, we will be discussing Vileplume: the Flower Pokémon and final evolved form of Oddish. Hence its namesake, Vileplume has a giant red flower on top of its head, which flaps loudly while it walks. An important note for trainers to be aware of is that the larger the flower petals are, the more potent its toxic pollen is! This pollen is bad for your allergies and even worse for your nervous system... because it causes paralysis. In fact, Vileplume uses its toxins to paralyze prey before brutally devouring it! You heard that right. It may not look it, but Vileplume is a straight up vicious, carnivorous PREDATOR! Oh, and there's a quiz today, so please take detailed notes in preparation.

    044: Gloom May 26, 2021
    Show notes

Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s forty-fourth lesson on Pokémon biology. In class today, we will be discussing Gloom: the Weed Pokémon and evolved form of Oddish. If you're ever outside, and you smell something pungent that makes you want to pass out, then that's probably a nearby Gloom. The odor released from its nectar and head flower is capable of making humans faint up to a mile away! But believe it or not, some Pokémon prey and even weird humans enjoy Gloom's disgusting smells. To them, it smells heavenly, and some humans even use Gloom's odor in perfume production. Imagine carelessly wearing Gloom perfume to a party and making all the partygoers faint. Yeah, you know who you are! The nerve... And as always, there's a pop quiz today! So be sure to take detailed notes about Gloom.

    043: Oddish May 19, 2021
    Show notes

Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s forty-third lesson on Pokémon biology. For the lesson today, we will be discussing Oddish: the Weed Pokémon. Oddish is a cute, bulb-like critter with several green leaves growing from its head. Now trainers and students, it is very important to NOT grab an Oddish by the leaves, especially while it’s underground. Ripping an Oddish from the dirt can cause it to shout obscenities at you! Well, that's not entirely true... it basically just shrieks. And for any students interested in farming, you can judge the fertility of your soil by looking at how glossy Oddish's leaves are! There's more to learn about this cute fella, so take notes and prepare for the quiz!

    042: Golbat May 12, 2021
    Show notes

Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s forty-second lesson on Pokémon biology. In class today, we will be discussing Golbat: the Bat Pokémon and evolved form of Zubat. Unlike Zubat, Golbat actually has eyes and short legs with tiny feet, which it uses to walk along the ground and sneak up on unsuspecting prey. But the most terrifying thing about Golbat is its large, gaping mouth filled with sharp fangs specialized for sucking blood. They feast on both Pokémon and humans alike and can consume up to 10 ounces of blood in one sitting! Imagine if a Golbat got its fangs into something small like a Pichu - poor thing would be sucked dry. And as always, take extensive notes for today's quiz!
