Kyyah's Gems: Reverse Your Way Of Thinking Jul 10, 2020
    Show notes

Career Savage was founded in 2017 with a mission to help college students feel more prepared for the real world. College advisors are often overburdened and don't have the capacity to guide each student down a career path. As a result, Career Savage came to life. Career Savage prides itself on offering everyday people relevant and current career advice. We empower clients to take control of their career goals and create opportunities in order to achieve them. "If I don't go to medical school what other jobs can I get with my pre-medicine degree?" Kyyah asked her college advisor this question in 2013 and never received an answer. She began college in 2012 and completed her studies in 2016. Throughout her undergrad education not a single career question was answered. Her advisor only ever advised on what courses were needed to walk come graduation day. Beyond frustrated, she took her career into her own hands sophomore year only working jobs relevant to her major. From Pharmacy Technician at CVS (2013) to an acting Manager in Regulatory Affairs (2019), Kyyah worked her way up quickly using what she calls a "Career Savage Mentality". Kyyah created Career Savage in order to bridge the gap between advisors and students. "Everyone needs career guidance! That's why people have mentors", Kyyah states. High school students, College students, Graduates and working Professionals all require stable, relevant and current guidance throughout their careers. Instead of waiting for school systems and corporations to get with the times Kyyah created Career Savage.

Shawntas Gems: Go With The Flow Jul 06, 2020
    Show notes

Author Journal of a woman with lived experiences 21 day guide Help people to help themselves and others “Opposite of flexibility is control” Shawnta Jackson is that person who leaves a lasting impression. She motivates, challenges, and provides thought provoking dialogue. She is a leader, mother, and social entrepreneur with a vision to help people help themselves and others. She is defying all limitations by succeeding as a single-mother and small business owner who for 11 years has been relied upon by organizations and teams across the United States to help implement and evaluate socially conscious programs and initiatives. She also serves as a facilitator and guest speaker for various audiences. She holds a Master of Public Health degree in social and behavioral health from University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in public relations from Columbia College Chicago. Shawnta is originally from Las Vegas and resides in the Washington- Baltimore metropolitan area with her son, Zachary. Two-hundred dollars, three pairs of dirty clothes, a baby, car seat, and a pair of sunglasses were the only things in Shawnta’s possession when she moved back to Las Vegas from Chicago in what was her first step in leaving an unhealthy and at times, abusive marriage. At the age of 21, while in college, Shawnta married her boyfriend of two years who had five children prior to meeting her. By the time she was 25, she was divorced, literally leaving her life behind. The day she left Chicago was the same day she returned from a road-trip with her husband and his family. Out of fear for her safety, she never returned to her home to retrieve her nor her baby’s personal belongings. She left with what she had in her immediate possession. She had no social security cards, birth certificates, or other vital records for herself or her son. A few months later, she found herself back with her husband, but this time it was in Las Vegas. On one morning, after one of his controlling and intimidating episodes, she snuck out of the house with her son. She only had time to grab her laptop and business cards because she was afraid of getting “caught.” The night before, she went to bed with her shoes on because she wasn’t “allowed” to leave the house. That was her final step in leaving that relationship and her first step into her new life as an independent, self-motivated, emotionally intelligent, and resilient woman. Nearly 14 years later, Shawnta is defying all limitations by succeeding as a single-mother and social entrepreneur where she serves as the founder and chief executive of a boutique consulting agency that supports socially conscious initiatives across the United States. Ashley’s Gems: Being Debt Free Changed Me Jul 03, 2020
    Show notes

Ashley Van-Veen is a 27-year-old woman from Baltimore, Maryland. She is originally from Guyana, South America, however, she has lived in the US most of her life. She is the creator of Bankable Facts on Instagram, which she started as a means to provide financial literacy for her followers. Her biggest financial achievements include becoming a homeowner at age 24, and paying off an auto loan for a brand-new car in less than one year, all while making less than 6 figures as a respiratory therapist. Presently, she is balancing building wealth for the future and living bountifully in the present. She is an avid reader and a minimalist. Her money philosophy is this: “Your financial life should be simple and unembellished. Spare the sophistication for your style and table manners”. Her money philosophy simply means that building wealth should be a linear journey which can be accomplished by: eliminating debt, establishing a safety net fund in case of unemployment or temporary disability, reducing taxable income by investing in tax sheltered accounts first, then investing in non-tax sheltered accounts, buying the best insurance products to protect assets, and helping others realize their financial goals. Ashley aspires to one day be the first millionaire in her family.
