Self-guilt can turn into a vicious cycle that's hard to break.Self-guilt is prevalent in so many people's minds. It's particularly problematic when people are trying to lose weight.
Think of how many times you've beat yourself up after eating an extra slice of pizza (or pizza at all) or didn't get to the gym for the fourth day in a row. It can turn into a vicious cycle that's hard to break.
Nutritionist Carly Pollack lived in this cycle of weight ups and downs until trial and error -- and over a decade of formal study in health and healing -- led her to the insights she has since shared with thousands.
In her book, Feed Your Soul: Nutritional Wisdom to Lose Weight Permanently and Live Fulfilled, Carly presents her unique understanding of body science, brain wiring, and spiritual principles to facilitate real, lasting change. For example, she helps you reframe your thinking to see comfort foods as the numbing toxins they truly are and focus on long-term goals rather than immediate gratification.
Listen as Carly joins host Lisa Davis to share how you can achieve true and long-lasting personal transformation.

Thanks to the stresses of everyday life, restorative sleep often escapes us.When was the last time you had a truly deep and restful night's sleep?
Thanks to the stresses of everyday life, that type of restorative sleep often escapes us. Many individuals turn to sleep aids that aren't exactly healthy -- and sometimes even dangerous.
And yet, without sleep, we cannot function properly and we're only setting ourselves up to fall ill.

In her book, The Mindful Way to a Good Night's Sleep: Discover How to Use Dreamwork, Meditation, and Journaling to Sleep Deeply and Wake Up Well, Gover offers practical lifestyle advice, simple yoga poses, 10-minute meditations, and easy breathing exercises, plus visualization and journaling activities.
You’ll also learn how to set the scene for safe, productive dreaming and cultivate your dream recall.
Listen as Gover joins Andrea and Lisa to describe her work in this field and how you can find the restful sleep you so desperately need.

Are there safe sugar substitutes?Limiting sugar in your diet is more important than ever.
Research has shown how damaging sugar is to the body -- not just in terms of weight gain, but also because of its inflammatory properties, diabetic influence, and the changes it can even make in the brain.
But, everyone likes to have a little something "sweet" now and again. Synthetic artificial sweeteners produce their own dangerous side effects. Are there safe sugar substitutes?
David Rosenberg, Food Category Manager at NOW Foods, explains that monk fruit is one of the best sugar substitutes on the market. Using it in baked goods and things like smoothies, plain yogurt, and coffee or tea is a great way to get a little sweetness with none of the calories. Plus, it's completely natural -- no artificial ingredients.
David joins Andrea and Lisa to discuss the dangers of sugar, which sugar substitutes are safe (and unsafe), and how you can use monk fruit to satisfy your sweet tooth.
