How do I hire a trainer to train my programs? Aug 20, 2020
    Show notes

Recently, a trainer asked me whether I thought she was 'ready' to hire a trainer to train her training programs.

So I asked her some questions: Do you know your client’s needs? Does your client trust your judgement? She said yes to both questions. So I said: You are ready.

But the question is not whether you are ready. The question is whether the person you going to hire as a trainer is ready.

Because this person is going to represent your brand. S/he is going to deliver your training material on front of your clients. Do you think they are ready?

Today, I’m going to give you the advice I gave her, so you can hire a trainer good enough to train your programs to your clients.

How do I run a training session on Zoom? Aug 13, 2020
    Show notes

Have you noticed how Zoom has dominated training delivery this year?

We are in the middle of a 'Zoom Boom' with organisations adopting Zoom as the preferred platform for running training, coaching, mentoring: 1:1 sessions and group sessions.

I have run 4 group sessions already this week - all on Zoom. 19 sessions in total in August. That does not include dozens of coaching sessions.

    How about you?

This 'Zoom Boom' is not going away any time soon. It could be the way that we are training for months or several years to come

Zoom can be fun but there are limitations to Zoom - let’s be honest. I’ve made mistakes and I have learned from taking part in some really good sessions

So today, I’m going to give you 7 tips on how to run a training session on Zoom.

How do I charge what my training is worth Aug 06, 2020
    Show notes

Many trainers nowadays making the leap from employed to self-employed and a problem many have is this little voice in their head saying that I can’t charge this? It’s too much. They will never pay this.

If you are making the leap from the world of being an employee to being a self-employed trainer, there is defintley a mental shift involved.

You look at your pay-check and tell yourself that you are worth $250 dollars a day. But that’s a mistake when you could be charging $5000 or more a day.

Today’s guest is Murray Cowell with whom I have worked in a previous life. We have both worked as L&D Managers, hiring trainers to deliver training so we know the value of the training you sell to people like us.

    It’s more than you think.

The good news is that there are so many things that trainers can charge for than just the training element and that’s what we are going to help you with today.

How do I use employee surveys to deliver the right training Jul 30, 2020
    Show notes

Organisations invest thousands, hundreds of thousands, millions of dollars, pounds, euros annually on training interventions.

Time and time again I’ve seen organisations invest in the wrong things and for the wrong reasons.

Very often the people who commission training are not the people who understand the training or benefit from training.

We both know that Training often is incorrectly assumed to be the fix for a range of structural and behavioural problems.

As training providers, we want to be sure that what we are delivering is not just a product, but a solution.

What we should be doing more of is helping our clients to clarify what they really need help with right now.

We’re not talking about post - training evaluation. We’re focusing on the kinds of surveys we don’t do enough of - pre-training surveys.

Thankfully there are lots of tools which can help you to conduct employee surveys.

Today I’m going to outline how employee surveys can help your training business and your client, and how to do them!

How do I use a case study to get new clients Jul 02, 2020
    Show notes

When people engage with you as potential customers, what they're really looking for are results. What does your training business promised them? What can your training business deliver to them? If they pay money what return on investment do they get?

I have made the mistake of throwing up a website and hoping that people find the way to my door. I've put time and money into a nice design and a website with great functionality only to find that it doesn't really deliver anything.

So that's the first realisation. People are not interested in your website. They're not really interested even in your products or services are they?

What they're interested in is results. What they are asking is this: if I take this leap of faith in you and bring you in to my company and stand you up in front of my people, how do I know that you will deliver? Where is the proof?

It's that last question that's crucial to answer. The best proof that your training programs get results is proof that your training programs get results. What better proof than a case-study.

Today I'm going to give you 7 steps, step-by-step on how to put a case study together and get it on front of your prospects so that they reach out to you for a conversation.
