    Show notes

Lisa is joined by Sunni Dayz who shares her personal journey with end stage renal disease (kidney failure) and how it was akin to a metamorphosis. This metamorphosis led to her spiritual journey where she tapped into her center and from there connected to her source. This led her to a place of meditation which has helped her deal with the stress of not only her health, but being an African American Woman in this day and age.

Speaking of being an African American Woman in this day and age, we need change. We've needed change for decades upon decades so I am happy to announce that Sunni and I are creating a podcast about how to be an ally. We've both been passionate about social justice and helping others to unlearn racism, recognize their biases, and get real about their white privilege. So get ready to change!!

In the meantime, I am sure you will enjoy this wonderful interview where Sunni shares her journey to healing.

Be sure to share this with your friends and family. Sunni and I are dedicating this episode to the memory of George Floyd and the many African American men, women, and children killed unjustly.

With helpful charts comparing the texture, nutritional content, taste, and best uses for each milk, plus one hundred flavorful recipes, cooking and baking with non-dairy milks has never been easier!

The first section of the book provides instructions for making an incredible range of non-dairy milks, followed by suggestions for use. Then, dive into recipes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner; sweets and breads; and smoothies and drinks. Each recipe calls for the ideal type of non-dairy milk, and most list alternates, so you can tweak them for your dietary needs and taste preferences. From “Buttermilk” Almond Waffles with Warm Berry Agave Sauce, to Mexican Chocolate Pudding, to Avocado-Basil Smoothies, every recipe is dairy-free, all but two are kosher, the vast majority are vegan, and most are gluten-free.

MY MISSION IS TO SPREAD HAPPINESS DUST ON ALL OF YOU!!!

I WAS BORN IN LEBANON, RAISED IN TURKEY AND EDUCATED IN SWITZERLAND. I PLAYED AND WORKED IN ITALY BEFORE EVENTUALLY LANDING IN NEW YORK CITY, WHERE I LIVE TODAY.

MY INTERNATIONAL BACKGROUND AND FAST-PACED LIFESTYLE HELPED ME BECOME WHO I AM TODAY. I SPENT MY LIFE RUNNING FROM CITY TO CITY, JOB TO JOB, PARTNER TO PARTNER TO FIND HAPPINESS…

WHEN I MOVED TO NEW YORK, 15 YEARS AGO, I EXPERIENCED THE BIGGEST WEIGHT GAIN OF MY LIFE. I STOPPED RUNNING AND STARTED BEING OBSESSED ABOUT MY WEIGHT. I STARTED TRYING ALL THE DIETS ON THE MARKET…

I WAS NOT LOSING ANY WEIGHT, BUT I WAS LOSING MY JOY, HAPPINESS AND APPETITE FOR LIFE.

MY FIXATION WAS SO BIG THAT I STARTED TO GET ANGRY AND DEPRESSED. AFTER HITTING ROCK BOTTOM, I DECIDED TO TAKE OVER MY LIFE.

I BLEW UP MY DESTRUCTIVE PATTERNS OF SELF-HATE AND DISAPPOINTMENT AND I CREATED A NEW APPROACH TO SELF-LOVE AND ACCEPT MYSELF.

AT THE BEGINNING OF MY JOURNEY , I THOUGHT LOSING WEIGHT WAS THE KEY TO MY HAPPINESS… WITH TIME, I LEARNED THAT BEING SKINNY, FINDING THE JOB, THE HOUSE OR THE PARTNER WAS NOT GOING TO BRING ME ANY JOY OR FELLING OF SUCCESS. I NEEDED TO FIRST FIND THE HAPPINESS WITHOUT ANY CONDITION.

Taking Care of Your Mental Health during COVID-19 May 05, 2020
    Show notes

Lisa is joined by Anne O. Boudreau the author of "A Human Mosaic: heal, re-new, and develop self-worth" to talk about a myriad of issues related to COVID-19 including taking care of our mental health.

Here is a bit about Anne's book:

    You have one life.

One life. That's all, at least here on Earth.

Every facet of who you are and how you live your life is filtered through your internal sense of self: how worthy you believe you are, the value you place on yourself as a human being. How you feel about yourself is the lens through which you view everything in your life. Your energy, attitude, health, sexuality, resilience, ability to focus, sleep, and every relationship and interaction is impacted by how you feel in your innermost core being.

You may not know what your purpose is yet, but we each have one. We all have something to contribute to the grand scheme of things. But first, you must believe in yourself, feel at peace with who you are, stop oppressing your own abilities. Learning to like who you are -- LOVE who you are -- is worth striving for, because it will change your life.

Having gone through the process of uncovering, discovering, and recovering my own self-worth, I will walk you through the steps as we move through the sections of A Human Mosaic. Humans are designed to be lifelong learners when we operate at our optimum level. It is never too late to change.

Live the healthiest, most fulfilling life possible by knowing that your life matters.

How Friendships Enrich Our Lives and Our Health Apr 28, 2020
    Show notes

We all yearn for a deeply satisfying life filled with meaning, purpose, peace, and security. In this disaffected world we seek a sense of belonging; to be accepted and loved for who we are.

The Friendship Key to Lasting Peace, United Communities, Stronger Relationships, Equality, and a Better Job! author, family physician and counsellor, Dr Winfried Sedhoff reveals how friendship empowers us to achieve such meaning, and by doing so reconnect with, and ultimately, change the world.

But first this pivotal book maps the disconnection. Dr Sedhoff gently reveals how we lost sight of close personal connection; what made competition more important than uniting as friends; why we'd rather keep up with the Jones's and the ruthless pursuit of often-insatiable lusts than support and care for one another. He reminds us of the inevitable personal, social, and global devastation when we no longer prioritise and value being friends. Outlining why friendship is critical.

Blending elements of Dr Sedhoff passions for history, tribal society, ethnology, psychology, and self-understanding we are offered a tool-chest brimming with simple, practical, steps to help us prioritise and build friendships, be liked, strengthen the depth and quality of our relationships, increase business success to global standards, eliminate bullying, prejudice and hate, uniting communities, and restoring governments to the people - finally ridding them of corruption.

As our own lives are transformed we automatically become powerful instigators of immense positive social and global change; the creators of a satisfying peace potentially spanning generations.

The life we long for is at our fingertips. This book outlines the tools we need to grasp it.
