    The Way You Show Up

Most people are living a version of themselves that they never choose.

You’ve been showing up for your spouse, your kids, and your career—but you’ve been doing it on autopilot. You’re living within a ceiling built by your past and sustained by your habits.

The Way You Show Up is for the high-achiever who is tired of “fine.”

We’re dismantling the average life to build an exceptional one—using the science of the PIES: Physical, Intellectual, Emotional, and Spiritual health.

The 4 Part Framework To Stand For Your Marriage Dec 17, 2024
    Show notes

Experiencing the highs and lows of marriage led me to a profound realization: attraction isn't just about the physical—it's a holistic process encompassing the Physical, Intellectual, Emotional, and Spiritual aspects. Last week I was able to share with our Marriage Helper audience the PIES framework, designed to rejuvenate marital bonds by focusing on self-improvement. Through personal stories, I illustrate how embracing this multi-faceted approach can reignite passion and enhance well-being, helping you tackle insecurities and societal pressures surrounding attraction.
Expect to uncover the hidden layers of intellectual and emotional attraction that keep relationships thriving. Drawing from personal experiences with my husband, I emphasize the importance of engaging conversations and shared interests that spark intellectual attraction. Equally vital is fostering emotional attraction—creating environments that nurture positive emotions. I discuss practices like self-forgiveness and positive self-talk as cornerstones for personal growth and deeper connections with your partner, offering practical insights for enriching your marriage.
As we wrap up, the focus shifts to spiritual growth and transformation, urging you to embrace activities like journaling and volunteering that elevate your spiritual attraction and self-esteem. Personal transformation is not only key to saving a marriage but also to personal fulfillment. With the new year on the horizon, it's the perfect time to reflect and set actionable goals for a brighter future. I invite you to connect with our team for guidance on this transformative journey, so you can gift yourself the opportunity for growth and change.

Unpacking the Real Costs of Social Media with Chris Martin Dec 10, 2024
    Show notes

What if the digital world was costing us more than we realized? In this episode, we sit down with Chris Martin, an insightful author who has navigated the depths of social media’s real costs. Chris shares his journey of writing a thought-provoking book during the pandemic, drawing from his rich experiences in social media roles at Lifeway and Moody Publishers. Together, we explore how his upbringing in a tech-savvy household shaped his perspectives, and what compelled him to question the societal impact of social media so deeply.
Our conversation takes a fascinating turn as we ponder how media critic Neil Postman might critique today's digital landscape, especially from a Christian viewpoint. We chart the evolution of the social internet, reminiscing about AOL trial disks and MySpace days, while unpacking how modern platforms have shifted societal norms toward valuing affirmation over truth. The discussion extends to the ethical implications of social media's addictive designs and their effects on mental health, illustrating a nuanced portrayal of our digital lives.
As we peer into the future, the concept of the metaverse emerges, raising questions about the balance between virtual and authentic human connections. Chris and I discuss the potential for technology to both enhance and hinder intimacy, while considering society's possible rejection of tools that fail to deliver on meaningful interactions. Through reflections on Bo Burnham's creative critiques and personal anecdotes, we encourage listeners to prioritize offline experiences and nurture real-life relationships. Join us on Twitter as we continue this important dialogue and explore the themes of Chris Martin's book, "Terms of Service: The Real Cost of Social Media."

The True Measure of Success Nov 05, 2024
    Show notes

Plenty of research talks about how a parent's interaction with their child will affect that child's future. It's called attachment theory, which boils down to the consistency and the quality of a parent's interaction with their child. The research shows there are four primary outcomes in attachment theory, but the only positive one is secure attachment. Secure attachment means that the child will believe that mom and dad will always be there when they need them.

There are seven characteristics of strong families, the most important being quantity of time, not quality. The question is, what is most important to you? Financial stability is vital for any family, but is there a way to balance your work and family life?
