Amazon's "The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power" is the most expensive television show ever produced. Since it is based on lore and a franchise many of us at NBP are big fans of, and due to the highly cinematic nature of the show, it only made sense for this to be our next series podcast review. For this epic journey into Middle Earth, I have Daniel Howat and guests Aaron White & Brendan Hodges joining me to discuss the characters, writing, visual effects, various storylines, and more, including our thoughts on what we hope to see from Season 2 and how we think the show will perform at next year's Emmy Awards. Please take a listen as we give our full, spoiler-filled thoughts on the biggest television show of all time.

Interview With "All That Breathes" Director, Shaunak Sen Oct 21, 2022

Show notes

"All That Breathes" had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, where it won the Grand Jury Prize in World Cinema Documentary Competition and then played at the Cannes Film Festival later this year, where it won the Golden Eye award for the best documentary, becoming the first film ever to win both prizes. It was later screened at the New York Film Festival, is now playing in limited release, and has been nominated for two Critics Choice Documentary Awards: Best Cinematography and Best Science/Nature Documentary. It's one of the most strikingly beautiful and memorable documentaries of the year as it follows Mohammad Saud and Nadeem Shehzad, who rescue and treat injured birds in New Delhi, commenting on the state of global warming and how it's impacting our ecosystems. Director Shaunak Sen was kind enough to spend a few minutes chatting with us about his work on the film, which you can listen to below. Thank you, and enjoy!

Interview With "Till" Director/Writer, Chinonye Chukwu Oct 19, 2022

Show notes

"Till" had its world premiere at the New York Film Festival, where it received positive reviews for Danielle Deadwyler's lead performance and the direction from Chinonye Chukwu. Chukwu had already impressed many of us a few years ago with her work on "Clemency." Still, here, she's telling a true, emotionally grueling story that needs to respect the family's wishes, be period accurate, and do it all without alienating the audience. How did she face all of these challenges? Please take a listen to our interview with her down below to find out. Enjoy, and thank you.

Interviews With "Decision To Leave" Director/Writer, Park Chan-wook & Star, Park Hae-il Oct 14, 2022

Show notes

"Decision To Leave" is one of the year's most buzzed-about films ever since its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. In the much-anticipated follow-up film to "The Handmaiden," writer/director Park Chan-wook has crafted a femme fatale romance with his usual quirky humor, twists, and precise filmmaking. He won the Best Director prize at the Cannes Film Festival, and the film has now been selected as South Korea's official submission for this year's Best International Feature Film Oscar race. Park Chan-wook and his leading man Park Hae-il were kind enough to chat with me about the film as they both discussed working with the film's leading actress Tang-Wei, and what it was like shooting the climatic scene on the beach during high tide, and more. Please make sure to see the film now playing in theaters from MUBI; take a listen down below and enjoy! Thank you.
