Interview With "Triangle Of Sadness" Star, Dolly De Leon Oct 07, 2022

Show notes

"Triangle Of Sadness" is one of the year's most entertaining films. After winning the Palme d'Or at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival, audiences are finally getting the chance to experience Ruben Östlund's scathingly vicious takedown of the rich and powerful in his first English-language film. One of the many reasons why the film works as well as it does is because of the character Abigail, played by Filipina actress Dolly De Leon. She was kind enough to spend time talking with me about her role in the film, how she came on board, working with the late Charlbi Dean, what she has coming up next, and more! Please make sure to see the film now playing in theaters with the biggest crowd you can; take a listen down below and enjoy!

"Bros" Oct 01, 2022

Show notes

For this week's main podcast review, I am joined by Josh Parham & Dan Bayer. Together we're reviewing the newest film from Nicholas Stoller, "Bros," starring Billy Eichner, Luke Macfarlane, Harvey Fierstein, Ts Madison, Monica Raymund, Guillermo Díaz, Guy Branum, Amanda Bearse, Jim Rash & Bowen Yang. The first major studio film with an all-gay cast, the romantic comedy, written by Stoller and Eichner, is making history and knows it too as it presents a modern rom-com that understands the LGBTQ+ history that came before it and what will hopefully come after its release. What did we think of the characters, the writing, the jokes, and how it portrays gay romantic relationships? Please take a listen down below and enjoy! Thank you!

Interview With "God's Creatures" Directors, Salea Davis & Anna Rose Holmer Sep 30, 2022

Show notes

"God's Creatures" is the first time filmmakers and frequent collaborators Sales Davis and Anna Rose Holmer share directorial credit on a film. Following their previous film, "The Fits," the duo are one of the most exciting pairs working in the field today, and that continues with this psychological drama that premiered earlier this year at Cannes. Davis and Rose Holmer were kind enough to talk with us about directing the three main performances from Emily Watson, Paul Mescal, and Aisling Franciosi, how much of a vital role sound plays in the film, and what they have coming up next. We hope you will check out the film, which is now playing in theaters and available on demand from A24. Please take a listen down below. Thank you!

The Next Best Series Podcast: Episode 30 - Our Reactions To The 2022 Emmy Award Winners Sep 20, 2022

Show notes

The 74th annual Primetime Emmy Awards were held last week at the Microsoft Theater in Downtown Los Angeles, California, on September 12th. Unfortunately, I missed watching the show live because I was at the Toronto International Film Festival, but I wouldn't miss the chance to podcast about the show and its winners for the world. Here to join me to talk about everything that happened, including some brief thoughts on some new shows we've been watching, such as "House Of The Dragon," "The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power," and "She-Hulk: Attorney At Law," I have Zoe Rose Bryant. This will be our last Next Best Series Podcast episode until after the Oscars. We're planning to come back with exclusive review shows for "House Of The Dragon" and a few others, so stay tuned for that. We thank you for all of your support and hope you enjoy it! See you soon!
