522: Behind The Scenes Of My Work-Life Dance When Life Threw Me A Curveball Jul 18, 2023
    Show notes

Most of us wear a LOT of hats in our life. For me, my hats include mama, wife, CEO… and that’s just for starters!

Doing the dance between those roles can be a LOT. (It’s often called a “juggle” for a reason — it can feel like you’ve got a heap of balls in the air, and if you drop one, it might just shatter.)

Though there’s a lot of talk in our culture about “work-life balance”, we don’t often get to *see* the behind-the-scenes stuff that goes into navigating all the different areas of life. (I also don’t even love the word ‘balance’ in this context, because very often, it’s *not* balanced, and that’s okay!)

So in this episode, I’m getting super real and raw with you, to share how I personally navigated the dance between my roles as mama and CEO during a particularly challenging time.

To give you a brief rundown: Nick was away, my daughter got sick, then I got sick too. On top of that, there was a lot going on in my business as well. All up, it was BIG, and hard which needed a lot of surrender, leaning on my village, and feeling my way through it all.

Of course, this sort of roller coaster time isn’t unique; SO many women go through similar experiences all the time (and single parents, I bow down to you, you are absolute rockstars!).

So I’m sharing this not because my situation was all that unusual, but because there can be so much value in admitting when things are hard, in sharing the reality of life in the trenches, and in showing that everyone struggles sometimes.

So here is an unvarnished, honest look at my dance between work-life and mama-life during a recent hard time. If you're in the thick of a tough season or simply want to be prepared for when life throws you a curveball, this episode is for you.

519: POPULAR EPISODE: 7 Steps To Healing The Mother Wound | Bethany Webster Jun 27, 2023
    Show notes

Do you have limiting beliefs around motherhood and what it means to be a mama?

These beliefs could be anything, like — “a good mother needs to put herself last”, or “you should enjoy every moment of motherhood” or even “it’s crucial to get your pre-baby body back quickly”.

So many of us have beliefs like this. Sometimes we inherit them from our own mothers, sometimes they’re fed to us from society, and sometimes they get embedded in our brains without us even knowing.

To help us explore and dismantle them, I’ve opened up the vault and pulled out one of the most downloaded episodes of the show EVER, with the incredible Bethany Webster.

Bethany says this way of thinking stems from the ‘Mother Wound’ — the inherited pain of being a woman in a patriarchal culture. And in today’s episode, she’s guiding us through the process of healing this wound, ditching our dysfunctional coping mechanisms, and expanding our idea of what it means to be a mama.

Known as a ‘midwife of the heart’, Bethany Webster is a writer, transformational coach and international speaker. Her work has filled a crucial gap in our understanding of women’s lives by blending cutting-edge research on intergenerational trauma, feminist theory, and psychology to comprehensively define the Mother Wound.

Bethany’s insights in this conversation blew me away. I was nodding along like crazy, as she described so perfectly what it’s like to be a woman in this world and how many damaging beliefs we can absorb without even realizing. Whether you are a mama, want to be a mama, have a mama, or just want to understand yourself and the women in your life better, you’ll find veins of gold throughout this podcast, and I can’t wait for you to listen.

So if you want to heal your ancestral wounds, actualize your full potential, and redefine your own relationship with motherhood, this conversation is for you.

    516: Melissa's Lab Results Revealed & Prepping for Baby #2 | Dr Stephen Cabral Jun 06, 2023
    Show notes

This episode kicks off with some big news that’s extremely close to my heart: I'm getting ready to start making Baby #2 a reality!

As soon as Nick and I made the decision that we were ready for another baby, our first port of call was Dr Stephen Cabral, my most trusted health adviser and mentor. His sage advice and comprehensive testing were instrumental in helping us get pregnant last time, so it was a no-brainer to call on his expertise again as we embark on this journey for a second time.

The first thing Stephen did was recommend 5 specific lab tests to evaluate my body's readiness for conception.

And in this extremely insightful (and deeply personal) episode, he’s going through the results of my labs live on the show.

Listen in as we walk you through each of the tests – explaining why they're so important, how to optimize your results, and, of course, revealing the findings from my own labs (and how the results have shifted since I last did these tests).

We also dive into the protocols and health hacks that can give your biomarkers a boost, fire up your fertility, and have you primed and ready for conception and a healthy pregnancy.

I was so nervous to press record and then publish on this episode, but I’m so glad I did. This is a truly fascinating glimpse into the inner workings of our bodies, and how they prepare for something as miraculous as creating a new life.

So whether you're planning on a baby soon, hoping for one in the future, or just interested in understanding your body better, this is an eye-opening episode that you don't want to miss.
