Have you gotten your copy of Jimmy Moore and Dr. Eric Westman’s new book Keto Clarity: Your Definitive Guide to the Benefits of a Low-Carb, High-Fat Diet yet? If so, then you are probably already a big fan of the frequent “Moment Of Clarity” quotes located every few paragraphs from the 22 featured experts Jimmy hand-selected to interview and include in the book. On this podcast, we’ve been sharing BRAND NEW INTERVIEWS with most of the 22 featured experts in the book as we give you the listeners a further glimpse into the heart and soul of what makes Keto Clarity such an awesome and unique resource for people desiring to attain the health improvements that come from being in ketosis. These interviews just keep coming!

Today’s Keto Clarity expert interview is with a clinical professor of medicine at the University of Iowa and a staff physician at the Iowa City Veterans Affairs Hospital named Dr. Terry Wahls. She teaches medical students and resident physicians about applying nutritional therapies to improve the health of their patients and sees patients and does clinical research herself with traumatic brain injury as well as complex chronic health problems that often include multiple autoimmune disorders. Dr. Wahls is famous for being a patient with a chronic progressive neurological disorder: secondary progressive multiple sclerosis, which confined her to a tilt-recline wheelchair for four years which she chronicled in her famous 2011 TEDx Iowa City talk Minding Your Mitochondria. She credits the Wahls Protocol, which is based on functional medicine, with restoring her health, enabling her to now ride her bike five miles to work every day. She released a book in 2014 about her experience called The Wahls Protocol: How I Beat Progressive MS Using Paleo Principles and Functional Medicine. Listen to Jimmy and Dr. Wahls look further into why a micronutrition-rich low-carb, high-fat, ketogenic diet is such a powerful modality in treating so many of the chronic health problems of our day. We’ve still got a couple more weeks worth of Keto Clarity expert interviews to share and they just keep getting better and better.

Diet trends tend to come and go and the current one that’s all the rage is keto. But it won’t last forever. So what’s next? That’s the topic of a marketing trend company called Mintel in the article below.

Mintel insight: What makes keto neato?: https://www.nutraingredients.com/Article/2019/04/26/Mintel-insight-What-makes-keto-neato

While keto will still be strong for a couple more years, health podcaster and international bestselling author of KETO CLARITY Jimmy Moore says he thinks a more personalized nutrition approach and a carnivore diet are coming on strong as the next big trends in nutritional health. Listen to Jimmy share more of his insights about this in this episode.

“Healthier processed foods. Isn’t that an oxymoron? What could you possibly do to make processed foods mimic whole foods?”

    Jimmy Moore Paid advertisement

A new study has gotten a lot of attention lately because it came to a shocking conclusion that apparently nobody saw coming–eating processed foods full of junk ingredients and refined carbohydrates will lead to weight gain and negative health effects. OMG, who knew? NOT! Read about this research from Kevin Hall (a calories apologist who thinks low-carb, ketogenic diets are totally bogus) in the story below.

How processed foods make you fat: https://www.businesstimes.com.sg/life-culture/how-processed-foods-make-you-fat

If you pit a real food diet vs. a crappy carbage diet for people who are generally healthy and insulin sensitive, then it’s not a surprise to anyone which one is better. But health podcaster and international bestselling author of KETO CLARITY Jimmy Moore notes the conclusion of Hall and his team of researchers to try to clean up the processed foods is the exact wrong answer to this issue with obesity and chronic disease. Watch to hear Jimmy’s commentary on why we need to be incentivizing and educating the public (especially those who are lower on the socioeconomic scale) on the value of embracing whole foods in this video.

“What we’re seeing is that doctors are making small changes and that means that we are seeing policy changes from a grass roots level.”

    Dr. Adam Nally Paid advertisement

Finding a good doctor who understands the key role that nutrition plays in their patient’s health can be extremely challenging nowadays. Since most medical professionals are lucky if they’ve had just a few hours to two weeks worth of education on the role diet plays in health during their medical school training, many don’t know how to adequately help their patients dealing with chronic health problems like diabetes, metabolic syndrome, cholesterol and weight management. These topics are all a passionate focus of attention by a Surprise, Arizona-based family medicine practitioner named Dr. Adam Nally from Nally Family Practice. He blogs about how he routinely uses a low-carb, high-fat, ketogenic diet to help his patients maximize their health where all other forms of traditional medicine has failed. He blogs at DocMuscles.com and is one of the strongest medical proponents of ketogenic diets you’ll ever hear.

Dr. Nally was invited by our host Jimmy Moore to be one of the featured speakers on the 2014 Low-Carb Cruise which we shared on this podcast a couple of months back. But the video and audio footage with Dr. Nally became corrupted and unusable. To remedy that, Jimmy invited Dr. Nally to come on the podcast today for a fresh interview that we know you’re gonna love. Listen in as Jimmy and Dr. Nally discuss how the interest in low-carbohydrate nutrition is becoming more attractive to physicians, the surprised response he gets from his patients as he teaches Paleo-based low-carb, high-fat, ketogenic principles, how the Internet has made patients much more savvy from a medical health perspective, why the low-carb message isn’t embraced wholeheartedly for people with diabetes, the progression of diabetes that happens over time, how fat-phobia is driving the policies about nutrition and health, why patient data matter doesn’t seem to matter to the policymakers, the lack of will and financial ability to do a credible nutritional health study, why insulin resistance seems to be completely ignored as a key marker in chronic disease, how blood pressure drops like a rock when you start low-carb, the cascade of improvements in health markers that happen when you cut your carbohydrate intake, the incredible improvements in the key cholesterol markers like triglycerides on a low-carb diet, there is no drug that will drop triglycerides as much as low-carb, what’s going on with patients who don’t see results despite eating ketogenic, how most of the artificial sweeteners (especially Ace-K commonly found in most diet sodas) and fake creamers won’t raise blood sugar but will raise insulin levels, why food quality is such an incredible aspect of a good low-carb, ketogenic diet, the disconnect with what real food is, how he uses aquaponics to create a sustainable food supply, how stress impacts people with an insulin response like eating 10 slices of bread instead of one, the strategies he tells patients to reduce the stress, why exercise has to become an enjoyable part of your life, how he sees atherosclerotic plaque (CIMT) in his patients reduced with a low-carb ketogenic diet, and the amplification of side effects that happen when a low-carb dieter takes a statin drug.

“A lot of people have fallen for the lie that you have to eat carbs to grow muscle. That is NOT TRUE.”

    Jimmy Moore Paid advertisement

We’ve been seeing a disturbing trend unfolding in the keto community over the past couple of years where the message of low-carb, moderate protein, high-fat ketogenic diets is being coopted by the belief that to maximize muscle building and hormone balance you need to have periods of high-carbohydrate eating (known as carb ups). But not everyone agrees with this notion as health podcaster and international bestselling author of KETO CLARITY Jimmy Moore features with this illustrious panel of keto experts who attended the 2019 Low-Carb Cruise. Robert Sikes and Crystal (Love) Sikes from http://www.ketosavage.com, Lauren Berryhill from http://www.ketocoachlauren.com, and Christine Moore, NTP from http://www.rebootingyournutrition.com all chime in with their thoughts on this controversial topic in this episode.

“I think if a lot of the judgmental attitudes went away, Keto would have a much longer time in the limelight and help so many people.”

    Jimmy Moore Paid advertisement

A disconcerting undercurrent of negativity has been bubbling up in the keto community as of late that is going the same ugly way of politics and other heated discussions. Rather than seeing people who disagree with us as an opportunity to learn from opposing viewpoints and sharing a bit of your own perspective for others to glean wisdom from your low-carb, ketogenic experience, instead it has turned to intense antagonism, dogmatic beliefs, and viewing anyone who doesn’t agree with you as an enemy. What a disturbing turn of events this has been for health podcaster and international bestselling author of KETO CLARITY Jimmy Moore who gently reminds people who support the idea of nutritional ketosis for health that fighting over minor nuances of keto will turn away the very people who need to hear about it the most in this episode.

    1561: Best-of, Dr. Dominic D’Agostino – KETO CLARITY Expert Interview Oct 16, 2019
    Show notes

Today's Best-Of Livin' La Vida Low-Carb features a 2014 interview with one of the expert contributors to the book Keto Clarity, Dr. Dominic D’Agostino.

The world deserves to hear more about all the amazing health benefits that come from being in a state of nutritional ketosis. For far too long, the “k” word has been ostracized by the health community and the time has come to set the record straight. That’s exactly what our host Jimmy Moore has done with his brand new book entitled Keto Clarity: Your Definitive Guide to the Benefits of a Low-Carb, High-Fat Diet. Just as he did on his 2013 bestselling book Cholesterol Clarity, Jimmy teamed up with internist and Duke University low-carb diet researcher Dr. Eric Westman as well as 22 of the world’s best experts on ketogenic diets to offer one of the most readable, practical guides to all the reasons why you would want to start producing more ketones in your body. Written in Jimmy’s easy-going and relatable writing style, Keto Clarity also includes the familiar “Moment Of Clarity” quotes from the experts and “Doctor’s Note” entries from Dr. Westman throughout the book to strengthen the information being shared. We’ve got so many amazing BRAND NEW INTERVIEWS (these aren’t the same interviews Jimmy conducted with them for the book) about ketogenic diets and their impact on health to present in the coming weeks in celebration of this momentous new book release.

“We know that white meat is devoid of fat. Could it be that something else in the diet that is raising cholesterol? I believe it is the carbohydrates that are raising cholesterol.”

    Jimmy Moore Paid advertisement

The plant-based movement is in full-on panic and desperation mode with the rise in popularity of meat-based diets in recent years such as Paleo, primal, Whole30, keto, and carnivore. This manifests itself in the form of extraordinarily misleading, bad research studies with headlines only meant to scare unscientifically educated laypeople into believing them. The following are two of the latest examples of this.

Eating red meat three times a week increases risk of early death by 10%, research suggests: https://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/red-meat-risk-early-death-plant-based-alternative-health-study-a8955351.html

White Meat Can Raise Cholesterol As Much As Red Meat, New Study Shows: https://www.livescience.com/65646-white-meat-raises-cholesterol-levels.html

This is the kind of irresponsible and unethical research that should be abolished according to health podcaster and international bestselling author Jimmy Moore who says they prove nothing about the effects of meat on your health. Listen in as Jimmy details both of these studies and what exactly they got wrong in them in this episode.

As we age, people like to use that as an excuse for why they can’t lose weight or get their body into shape. After all, we all KNOW your metabolism slows down, your bones become brittle, you lose muscle, and it’s a hopeless situation to prevent obesity and declining health from happening as you enter the twilight years of life, right? But somebody forgot to tell that to my podcast interview guest today–Arthur DeVany. At the age of 71, he’s an inspiring athlete consuming a low-carb nutritional program he refers to as Evolutionary Fitness.

In this episode of “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore,” we hear from former economics professor and former professional minor league baseball player Arthur De Vany who tells us about how his wife’s diabetes drove him to the low-carbohydrate way of eating to control her insulin, why carbohydrates are driving obesity and disease, and how his Evolutionary Fitness program is helping people get their nutrition and fitness routine in order by getting back to the diet of our ancestors. He says the hunter/gatherer ideology is a model that we should all attempt to follow. This is one man you will LOVE to hear from in today’s interview.
