    The Lindsey Elmore Show

    What changes us?

I’m Lindsey Elmore: pharmacist, educator, author, and speaker. For more than a decade I’ve helped people understand their health and make more informed decisions, on stages in about 35 countries and in hundreds of long-form conversations. I’m endlessly curious about what changes a life — what we learn, what we believe, what we survive, and what we choose to do next.

On this show I talk with physicians, researchers, authors, clinicians, and people whose experience has something to teach the rest of us. We get into medicine and pharmacology, mental wellness, hormones, longevity, and what the evidence actually says. We also get into the parts of life that no study fully explains: faith and doubt, grief, forgiveness, sobriety, the books that rearranged us, and the ordinary decisions that add up to a life.

My training taught me to examine evidence, ask precise questions, and respect how much there is still to learn. My own life has given me plenty of chances to practice that last part. So I read the research so you don’t have to, I ask the questions I’d want answered myself, and I come ready to be taught.
Hundreds of episodes in, the thread hasn’t changed: bigger questions, better conversations, and a willingness to reconsider what we thought we knew.

This show is for education. It isn’t medical advice, and it isn’t a substitute for care from your own clinician.

Doing impossible things. Interviews with Jodie Meschuk and Asher Singe. Jun 08, 2020
    Show notes

First, Lindsey sits down with Jodie Meschuk, author of “Speak Up Buttercup” and the upcoming, “Autism Reimagined.” She shares the incredible story of her son’s autism recovery, and why she continued to fight for him even through the most impossible situations. She describes why honoring her patients’ wishes is imperative to being a pharmacist, but why she also works to keep her patients fully informed on all ends of the spectrum. She says we must get rid of ‘pro vs anti’ rhetoric in order to continue to have an informed conversation regarding vaccines. Finally, Lindsey sits down with Asher Singe, founder of Sole Hope, an organization made up of a team of Ugandans and Americans working to bring hope and healing to people suffering from jiggers. She talks about overcoming both personal and professional obstacles, and why she thinks opposition is what truly helps us blossom in to the strong beings we were always meant to be.

Radical self acceptance. Interviews with Virgie Tovar, Dr. Komal Pandya and Dayna Mott. May 18, 2020
    Show notes

In this episode of The Lindsey Elmore Show, Lindsey and her guests tackle one of the biggest issues that women face: lack of self acceptance. First, Lindsey talks with Virgie Tovar, author of The Self-Love Revolution: Radical Body Positivity for Girls of Color and You Have the Right to Remain Fat. These books help to uncover unconscious biases against fat people and help people to accept the body they are born in, no matter the size. Virgie brings her own journey of radical self acceptance to the table, challenging people to rethink how they many see the world. Then, Lindsey sits down with Dr. Komal Pandya, who defied her family's expectations of her while still maintaining an excellent relationship with them. She learned how to accept herself and defined what she wanted her own life to look like, despite some of the rigid expectations her parents may have had of her. She talks how therapy, confidence and open communication can greatly encourage acceptance of self. Finally, Lindsey talks with Dayna Mott, author of Kinky Locks about how people with textured hair can care for it without exposing themselves to harsh chemicals that are often marketed to African Americans. She talks about the necessity of seeing textured hair in the media, saying an absence of textured hair only encourages young African American girls to believe they need to change something about themselves, instead of promoting self acceptance.
