The Gutsy Podcast | Mindset, Personal Development & Entrepreneurship for Women

The Gutsy Podcast is for women, entrepreneurs, and go-getters who are ready to stop holding back and start making gutsy moves in their lives and businesses. Gutsy is the belief and action that happens in the split second when you’re faced with a decision—but this time you choose to go for it instead of going back.

Hosted by Keynote Speaker and Coach, LauraAura, this show is your weekly guide to owning what you actually want, shifting the mind junk that’s been holding you back, and taking bold steps toward your goals.

Each week, you’ll get powerful insights, actionable strategies, and inspiring stories designed to help you break free from overthinking and overcomplicating. Whether you’re tuning in for a full episode or a quick Powerback® session, you’ll walk away with the confidence and clarity to stop fighting yourself and start going for it.

Desire drives you, but gutsy? That’s what gets it done.

54: Content Planning with Kat Gaskin Feb 11, 2020
    Show notes

Posting meaningful content that speaks to your audience sounds like a great idea, but how the heck do you stay ahead of it? How do you go from a reactive “oh shit, I haven’t posted in 2 weeks” state to a proactive, well-planned calendar that doesn’t rule your life? I brought in the best of the best to tell you how.
In this episode, Kat Gaskin, content planning expert and creator of The Content Planner, goes through her simple 3-step process for planning social media content, shares her incredibly simple and effective hashtag strategy to grow your following, and explains how easy it is to use The Content Planner to start profiting.
Some of my favorite takeaways include:

    1. Progress over pretty – it’s going to be messy, embrace it – PLANNER GUILT IS REAL.
    2. Content planning is all about having the intention of being more organized and consistent
    3. People are already overwhelmed – if you make it easy for them to take action, they will

If you feel like you’re always 10 steps behind in your social media planning but WANT to start profiting from your social content, this episode is for you!

Powerback 53: Clean Out the Social Junk Feb 06, 2020
    Show notes

Your news feed is a reflection of what you’re allowing in your life. Can you control what other people share? No. But can you control what regular information you allow in your life? Absolutely.
By tolerating people or businesses that cause a negative reaction in your mind and body, you’re telling the universe that it’s ok to continue sending it. In other words, you get more of what you give.
Instead, the next time that person pops up in your feed, click the unfollow — or if you’re feeling gutsy, the unfriend — button. Hit unsubscribe to the next email marketing piece that comes in that is a distraction. You have the choice, and the right, to protect yourself from social junk.

    Powerback 52: Recognizing Projection Jan 30, 2020
    Show notes

Often when people lash out, have a strong opinion, or are judging who you are or what you’re doing, it’s a sign that they’re experiencing something of their own. When you recognize projection, you can hold a space for them to let out what they need to without having to absorb it for yourself. You can kindly thank them and energetically return it to them. Everyone’s opinion of you isn’t yours, it’s theirs.

52: Being the Most Confident Woman in Any Room with Jen Brown Jan 28, 2020
    Show notes

    “She thinks she’s all that.”
“Well, someone has a power trip.”
“Look at her, out there, AGAIN.”

Confidence is often associated with arrogance. When you’re at peace with yourself, people often think that you’re either faking it or have some weirdo potion that you drank to make you happy. Truth be told, confidence is one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself and the people around you.
Founder of The Engaging Entrepreneur, speaker, and all-around confidence Rockstar Jen Brown joins me this week to dig into the depths of being the most confident woman in the room. If you find yourself apologizing a lot, wishing you would have said more, not being assertive enough, or just find yourself constantly running uphill both ways in your business, this week’s episode is all yours.
We also talk about getting back to yourself. We’re often diluted by other people’s opinions, external circumstances, internal dialogue, have-to’s, to do’s, and so much more. When was the last time you stopped and asked yourself, WHAT DO I WANT AND WHY? She dropped the mic when she said, “You need to know yourself to be yourself…”
I was writing on every side of my paper during the episode, so I recommend grabbing that notebook that you write down only special things in using that particular pen (yeah, I see you cause I do it too).

Powerback 51: Own Your Ugly Bits Jan 23, 2020
    Show notes

Acknowledging and accepting the shadow side of yourself isn’t always easy. Sometimes this comes with facing things you’ve pushed to the back of the closet, bringing up old emotions, shame, fear, and anxiety. There is great power in owning your ugly bits though because when you claim them, no one else can call them ugly. Whatever you own can no longer own you and there’s great freedom in that.

51: Mistakes Keeping Your Business From Growing - Part 2 Jan 21, 2020
    Show notes

If you’re just joining the party, I encourage you to go back and listen to the first half of this topic, episode 49. If you’ve already tuned in, grab that sheet of paper you noted the first six mistakes on so we can round it out with the other five.

I also want to encourage you to go easy on yourself. Falling down is an accident. Staying down is a choice. Every single business owner makes mistakes. If you’re not, you’ve become complacent. Your mistakes are the single most powerful lessons to learn and grow. If you’re sweating thinking, “Shit, Laura. I’m making all of these mistakes!” – it’s ok. I’ve made every single one of them and the best way out is through and you can’t climb up if you’re looking down.

Let’s get back into it and make some shifts together. You’ve got this.

Powerback 50: Let Your Inner Little Girl Out to Play Jan 16, 2020
    Show notes

Back in episode 48, Kate Blake shared that there is a 4-year old version of ourselves inside of every one of us. When you’re feeling scared, worried, overwhelmed, and concerned, it’s usually her tugging at your leg saying, “I need your help, I’m scared.” As adults, we often shoo her away, tell her to shut up, or invalidate her by ignoring these feelings.
Be for yourself who you needed when you were growing up. When you’re feeling scared, stop and listen and comfort her. When you’re worried, ask her what she needs. Let her be the child she needs to be – playful, curious, and full of imagination. When you let her be who she is, you’re allowing yourself to learn, grow, and have fun in life. Let your little one out to play. She’ll remind you what it’s like to smile and fell true happiness.

50: Maintaining a Healthy Mind and Body with Tina Fraley Jan 14, 2020
    Show notes

It’s hard enough to build in a physical workout routine, let alone time to build the muscles in our mind. We’re overwhelmed with responsibilities, emails, to-do’s, goals, and everyday life crap. And while the most important thing we have is our mind and our body, it’s often the first things to go. Today we’re talking about maintaining a healthy mind and body and I couldn’t think of a better guest than Tina Fraley, owner of FitMinded Living.

“I don’t have time to workout.”

This is the number one excuse for not doing investing time in our bodies – yet we have time to scroll through Pinterest and roam the isles of Target. Changing your mind and your body is not easy, but they’re doable and it all starts with reminding yourself that YOU. MATTER.

This week’s episode is all about remembering to believe in yourself again. You have a lot more control and power than you give yourself credit for! Something as simple (and free) as intentional breathing can ground your mind and your body so that you can get back to the reason you showed up in the first place.

We cried a few times on this episode, and you can hear the grit and passion behind Tina’s voice – she’s an inspiration beyond words. Tune in, and get back to YOU.

Powerback 49: Let the Past Go Jan 09, 2020
    Show notes

Holding on to the past while trying to move forward is like lighting a candle and blowing it out at the same time. It’s impossible to look in two directions at the same time. That whole eyes in the back of the head deal your mom told you… that doesn’t apply here.
The truth is if you’re focused on all the mistakes you’ve made, the way people have treated you, all the reasons things won’t work, and every previous negative experience, you’re not only taking your focus off of the things ahead, but you’re manifesting more of the same.
What’s showing up on the outside is a reflection of what’s going on inside. To truly start making shifts, you have to bless and release the past and put your undivided attention on the future. Reveal a bold future, step out there and get into action.
