031 Jack Frost: Not THAT Jack Frost Dec 14, 2017
    Show notes

Conveniently-named serial killer. Brutal ornament death. Molecular structure talk. Shannon Elizabeth.

Jack Frost is the 1997 mutant snowman slasher from writer/director Micahel Cooney. This movie will always be hilariously and mistakenly tied to the 1998 family movie of the same name starring Michael Newton. Jack Frost was originally slated to have a $30 million budget and have Renny Harlin (Die Hard 2, Cliffhanger) direct. Instead of going the big budget route the movie was handed over to writer Michael Cooney to direct and given a much smaller budget and a straight-to-video release.

Jack Frost revolves around the titular serial killer who when being transported to execution comes in contact with a secret government compound and merges his DNA with snow. After that ridiculousness, Jack Frost heads to the small town of Snowmonton to seek revenge on the lowly sheriff that ended up arresting him. Jack terrorizes the small town killing its citizens in s variety of creative and brutal ways.

Join the TPM crew as they debate the best inanimate material to merge your DNA with for either laziness or to kill. Once the snowball is rolling the TPM hosts and unsuspecting victims turn up the heat on bad-movie classic 'Jack Frost'.

    Show Segments:

    • Debate Topic (03:22): Best inanimate material to merge DNA with?

    • What Would You Do Differently? (53:04)

030 Krampus: Rest In Peace DHL Guy Dec 07, 2017
    Show notes

Awkward family moments. Letter to Santa. Elf kidnapping. Gingerbread people with a nail gun.

Michael Dougherty returns to make a holiday horror film yet again in 2015 as he tackles Christmas after mastering Halloween with Trick 'r Treat in 2007. Not content with being just a horror film, Krampus mixes multiple genres by including dark comedy, family drama and action to create an instant cult-classic for the holiday season. Combining comedy veterans like Adam Scott and David Koechner with more traditional actresses like Toni Collette and Allison Tolman allows the movie to hit from all angles.

Krampus is set in a stereotypical suburban neighborhood where child Max's family is hosting Christmas for themselves and their more-rural relatives. After the inevitable family awkwardness occurs Max renounces his Christmas spirit and Krampus arrives to terrorize everyone. Krampus uses a variety of Christmas-related minions to play a cat-and-mouse game with the family until Max decides to get his Christmas spirit back.

Join the TPM crew as they invite some crazy guests over to debate the scariest Christmas toy. After the inevitable holiday argument, everyone sits down at the table to digest 2015's Christmas cult classic 'Krampus'.

    Show Segments:

    • Debate Topic (03:15): What's the creepiest Christmas toy?
    • Movie Review (14:11): Krampus (2015)

    029 The Invitation: A Diffi-Cult Video Nov 30, 2017

Old friends. Good wine. Awkward silences. Casual viewing of death videos.

The Invitation is an independent thriller from director Karyn Kusama. Widely released in 2016 this film was produced entirely independently and then enjoyed a limited release and was scooped up by Netflix. After two years of Eden being missing, she sends invites to her old friends for a lavish party. At the party we learn that she, her new boyfriend and their friends have all joined a cult and have a surprise for their old friends.

028 ThanksKilling: Very Fowl Play Nov 22, 2017
    Show notes

Turkey puns. Comically bad acting. Ancient curses. More turkey puns.

ThanksKilling is the extremely low-budget 2009 horror film from first-time director/writer Jordan Downey. Made with only about $3500 this poorly acted, poorly written and poorly filmed movie has become something of a cult classic. The sequel drew in over $110,000 in Kickstarter and ThanksKilling 3 continued the franchise with a much bigger budget while keeping the same quality acting and direction.

ThanksKilling revolves around a Native American curse that conjures up killer turkey 'Turkie'. Turkie follows and kills some students and their families on Thanksgiving break as they happen up him after 505 years of hibernation. The students attempt to band together to figure out how to defeat the invincible Turkie and free themselves from the curse.

Join the TPM crew as they debate the best holiday-themed killer in horror cinema. After settling on the beloved Jack Frost the crew along with Liz and David carve into ultra-low-budget horror cult classic 'ThanksKilling'.

    Show Segments:

    • Debate Topic (03:19): What is the best holiday-themed killer?
    • Movie Review (11:52): ThanksKilling (2009)

027 Green Room: Nazi Punks F**k Off Nov 16, 2017
    Show notes

Gas siphoning. Hardcore punk music. Boxcutters. Neo-Nazis.

Green Room is the third film from director Jeremy Saulnier after 2014's 'Blue Ruin' and 2007's 'Murder Party'. His career continues to be promising and one of his reasons for making 'Green Room' was that he wanted to make this very violent film before he became too renowned and wouldn't be able to make movies like that any more.

Green Room opens on the starving punk band the Ain't Rights as they tour the Pacific Northwest. Strapped for cash the band agrees to take a paying gig in a secluded venue that happens to be the home of Neo-Nazis. The band stumbles upon a horrible crime after their set and are caught in the fight of their lives trying to escape.

Join the TPM crew as they debate their Desert Island movie in their secluded podcast studio. Once they escape the debate they get around to telling Nazi punks to fuck off and discuss 2016's 'Green Room'.

    Show Segments:

    • Debate Topic (03:57): What is your desert island movie?
    • Movie Review (10:03): Green Room (2016)

    026 Prevenge: Fetal Attraction Nov 09, 2017
    Show notes

Homicidal Fetuses. Rock Climbing Incidents. Fat Snakes. DJ Dan.

Prevenge is the brainchild of Alice Lowe who wrote, directed and starred in this modern slasher while eight months pregnant. Quite a feat considering that she wrote the movie in three days after no one would hire her while she was pregnant. Her movie was shot with a budget of only $100,000 and filmed in 11 days but the film is brimming with humor and symbolism.

Ruth is pregnant and alone. She has no friends, no family and the father of her child died in a horrific climbing accident. The only person she really has to talk to her the fetus growing inside her. As the pregnancy goes on Ruth talks with her fetus more and more and it demands that she kill people related to the climbing accident. Is Ruth crazy or is her fetus justified in wanting revenge?

Join the Texas Podcast Massacre crew as they head to the doctor's office to debate which voice they'd like to hear come out of their womb. Once that check-up is done they get some drinks at the podcast studio and discuss 2017's Shudder-exclusive 'Prevenge'.

    Show Segments:

    - Debate Topic (02:00): Best murderous fetus voice

    - Movie Review (10:50): Prevenge (2017)

    - What Would You Do Differently? (53:30)
