Post-pandemic life: What’s it going to look like? It may be unsettling for some, it may be exciting for others. As we begin to navigate what life looks like outside of pandemic times, it’s important to remember how we’re feeling when we’re operating in situations that aren’t aligned with who we are or what we need. When we are frequently working out of alignment with ourselves, it can lead to... burnout.

Whatever the post-pandemic period looks like for you, our resilience has certainly been tested. I want you to feel proud of yourself and know that you’re doing your best. I hope that when you finish listening to this episode, you’ll be feeling a bit lighter and have some more forgiveness towards yourself for all that has transpired and in your heart.

The Power of Being You: Rising above Your Fear of Judgment with Natasha Nurse Apr 22, 2021
    Show notes

Send Dr. Li a text here. Please leave your email address if you would like a reply, thanks.

When you begin to accept who you truly are, you begin to expand and grow. I’m not referring to the things others think you are, but you, the real you -- the you that you believe is your truest self. It’s when we begin to listen to ourselves, not others, where we begin to see the change and start understanding that we hold so much power when we stop worrying about what others think or say about us. Wondering or assuming what others want, need, and think creates a limit to who we can become as we are allowing them to take control of our thoughts, goals and how much we can truly motivate ourselves.

In this episode, Natasha Nurse speaks to us about her personal journey pushing the boundaries of her own self-belief. She teaches us how to see ourselves as being limitless and how to create impact and how to live our days without fear and judgment determining how we should get things done.

Natasha Nurse is a coach, magazine editor, licensed attorney, co-host of the WokeNFree podcast, and the founder of DressingRoom8. Her colorful life experiences led her to the area of diversity and inclusion which is one of the reasons she started DressingRoom8, a space for women who seek coaching and the opportunity to learn how to be comfortable in their own skin, physically and mentally.

    Timestamps:

[2:20] Natasha and her ever-expanding limitless mindset

[7:35] Why the power of fear holds us back

[12:25] When it comes down to it, the only thing stopping you from your goals is you

[14:21] Natasha’s experience working in diversity and inclusion and how she learned how to create change from the inside

[25:36] Question what is truly going to make you happy, and do it!

How to Say "Yes" and "No" Like a Pro Apr 01, 2021
    Show notes

Send Dr. Li a text here. Please leave your email address if you would like a reply, thanks.

Sometimes being a people-pleaser is just NOT fun. Sure, we may get excited at the chance to help someone or work really hard to get the satisfaction of a job well done, but at what cost?

We’ve all had that dreaded feeling, having to decide between saying “yes” or saying “no” to something or someone.

You might be asking yourself, is saying “yes” really a “bad” thing? If you think about it, always saying “yes” all the time can hurt us because it can get in the way of what we really want to do, say, and be.

So, why is it so difficult to say “no?”

Why is it so difficult to be honest with ourselves when we know the answer in our hearts but we say “yes” anyway?

Why are we so afraid of letting others down?

In this episode, we’re going to explore all of these things! It can be a challenge to find yourself saying “no” because deep down, we don’t want people to be upset or disappointed. We don’t want others to think that we couldn’t be there for them, or to think that we’re mean or even selfish.

Here’s the reality, my friend. It’s not fair to you if you feel like you’re being torn in two different directions! You have the power to say what is and isn’t going to work or be beneficial for you.

When we make so many promises by saying “yes,” we become unable to show up with our full potential and to do the things we actually want to do. So, let’s explore these concepts some more and dive right in.

To help you navigate this complicated yes and no journey, feel free to download my free guide. It's called the Kindness to Self Handbook. It's full of affirmations, principles and a brief checklist to help keep you showing up for yourself. Simply go to www.maketimeforsuccesspodcast.com/kindness to get your free copy!

    Timestamps:

[0:31] The origin of people pleasing and the “yes” attitude

[3:56] What really happens when we always say “yes”

[5:27] The reasons why taking care of our needs and being kind to ourselves actually matters

[8:57] The strategies you need to know to actually say “no” effectively

The Secret to Getting the Best Expression of Yourself with Carrie Hamm Mar 25, 2021
    Show notes

Send Dr. Li a text here. Please leave your email address if you would like a reply, thanks.

Figuring out who you really are and being able to be and act as the truest version of yourself can be so powerful in any and all areas of your life. When Carrie Hamm figured out living and breathing the corporate scene for over 20 years wasn’t for her anymore, she considered what she wanted to do next. As she had worked in a heavily male-dominated industry, it wasn’t until she discovered a women-only co-working space that she began to thrive. She started to notice the stark differences between working with the women she met in the co-working space, and this made her realize how different genders are raised in today’s society.

While spending more and more time working with women, she realized how much society influenced the thoughts and limits placed in the minds of girls and women. Many times we don’t express our true selves due to the influence of friend groups, family, and peers. However, when we learn how to manage how, when, and where we decide to invest our energy, that’s when our true selves begin to thrive.

In this week’s episode, I’m introducing you to Carrie Hamm, a business strategist and intuitive coach who helps entrepreneurs with a big vision to amplify their energy for massive impact and abundance. She draws on a 20+ year career in back-office software development combined with 20+ years as a Tibetan Buddhist meditator to dial in the business processes and expansive mindset needed for taking giant steps in scaling a business.
    Timestamps:

[2:12] The journey from corporate America to entrepreneur

[10:28] How we are conditioned growing up plays a factor in how we decide to take action and tackle our goals.

[17:23] Energy from past experiences might be holding you back, but you can still grow and transform into a new energy that will help you be the full expression of yourself.

[29:02] The smallest thing from your past could be what’s holding you back. Think about what factors are making you feel like you can’t use your full inner fire.
