Our guest on the Movers and Shakers podcast is Branton Blount. Like many who discover real estate investing mid-life, Branton found himself squarely entrenched in the “E” quadrant at age 37, having spent close to two decades becoming highly specialized within military and federal law enforcement. What for so long had been the “goal”, now became his greatest challenge. Passionate about untethering himself from a single source of income, and short on available funds to invest, Branton immersed himself in real estate podcasts, books, and local networking events, while finding creative ways to leverage the skills acquired from his law enforcement career to the real estate investing realm. Discovering Jake & Gino’s Wheelbarrow Profits platform in early 2018, Branton knew multifamily was the way forward.

Branton is founding principal of AOM Enterprises, focused on acquiring and stabilizing value-add multifamily properties throughout primary and secondary markets in Texas. He and his two business partners recently completed a full reposition of a 16-unit property in north Texas, successfully implementing all stages of the Buy Right, Finance Right, Management Right process, while overcoming the many challenges of investing remotely.

Branton resides in Las Vegas, NV with his wife and one year old son. In addition to family life, w-2 job, and military reserve duty, Branton works tirelessly to scale AOM Enterprise’s holdings in an effort to reach his goal of matching his w-2 salary from passive sources by the close of 2020.

Julia homeschools the children, and recently became a marriage and life coach to help couples become better communicators and help enrich their lives. The couple is constantly asked about how they balance their entrepreneurial & real estate journey while raising their kids. The Multi-FAMILY zone was created to address these questions, along with a host of questions from the Jake & Gino community.

In this episode, Gino and Julia discuss the importance of how they build their family team at home. Gino talks about building a team for any business, and how the creation of a formidable team at Jake and Gino has led to an amazing community of students. In the business world, it is vital to cultivate culture for your company, and to live each and every day through the culture you have created.

Jennifer Outland split her professional careers between mental health counseling and hospitality before property management found her. Born and raised in Tennessee, Jennifer earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from The University of Tennessee and her Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from East Tennessee State University. Jennifer started with Rand Property Management in August of 2015. In four short years at Rand she helped build the organization from 225 units to over 1,600, developed the Human Resources Department, and was promoted to Regional Manager in January of 2018. Jennifer currently lives in Knoxville with her husband and son.

Geoff Stuhr is a Wisconsin-based real estate investor. 5 years ago, he began his investing career starting with duplexes and initially had a goal of buying 1 property per year, and for the first 3 years this is exactly what he did. Since then he has discovered the power of partnering and force multipliers in real estate. In 2019 alone he has completed a JV on a 34 unit apartment building, as well as a syndication for an 89 unit apartment complex.

Geoff’s company, Smart Asset Capital, is a vertically integrated real estate investment firm based in Southeastern Wisconsin, with a specialization in identifying emerging areas, and then raising private capital to buy B & C class workforce housing with solid cash-flow in those "paths of progress", and then implementing new systems and processes to improve the NOI of those assets.

As of June 2019, Geoff currently owns 3 duplexes, 2 condos, a 34 unit apartment building, and is one of the Key Partners of an 89 unit apartment complex syndication.
