Pat Hiban is the founder and Chairman of Rebus University and is the host and founder of real estate podcast Real Estate Rockstars with Pat Hiban, which has featured guests including Robert Kiyosaki and Shark Tank's Barbara Corcoran.

Hiban is a former real estate agent out of the Baltimore MD area, and is the owner of the Pat Hiban Group with Keller Williams. Welcome to the Movers and Shakers podcast. Our guest this week is Michele Brophy. She was a former graphic designer, certified teacher, and a mother of two. In 2009, she began helping her husband Shawn with single family rentals. In 2015, they got serious about passive income and went full time into real estate, implemented systems to help double their single family portfolio 2 years in a row.

As of 2018, they have expanded their geographical area to include mid-size manufactured housing communities in Indiana. Michele remotely operates and manages 2 communities, totaling 51 units, and growing.

She is now the Co-Owner (COO) and manager of Daily Operations for Redmae Property Group with her husband. They own and operates a mixed portfolio of 64 units.

Dylan and Mike interview David Toupin, the co-founder of Obsidian Capital, an Austin Texas based real estate investment firm.

David started investing at the age of 20 in Michigan where he bought his first property in college, a 12 unit apartment complex. Prior to graduating with a Finance degree at the University of Detroit Mercy, David had acquired $7M in multifamily real estate holdings.

Key Information:

Always hustle whether it is using cold calls or mailers to find deals

Ask yourself “How Can I do this?”

David is looking to develop multifamily properties because the cap rates are being compressed

Focus on one thing

One deal doesn’t set you free, multifamily is a long game

Manage the property managers to make sure you understand your cash position, budget, and turns

Partnerships are similar to marriages, build the foundation by aligning values & investing views

This week’s guest on the Movers and Shakers podcast is Chad King.

Chad is a full time real estate investor. He began college as a finance major, but when he graduated, he got at Xerox in sales. He noticed that people became successful through real estate. Chad chose to go into real estate full time in 2017. In 2019, he was involved in 168 deals in five different markets. He started to study multi-family so that he could grow his wealth and cashflow. In July of 2019, Chad joined the Jake and Gino Community. Three months after joining the community, he closed his first multi-family deal, a 16 unit in Nashville, TN.

It is lazy and irresponsible to stop being active in “hot” markets
