145 How to Write Your F-It List Jun 14, 2017
    Show notes

I think we all have a list. That’s right, a F-It List. This List is not quite a Bucket List, where you check things off that you want to do before you die. Instead, we can use a F-It list to get rid of the things that are weighing you down. This tool uses all the powers of Positive Psychology at our disposal, allowing you to get rid of anything that drains you.

As women in the modern world, we carry around habits and thoughts attached to shame, kind of like how we carry heavy books in a backpack. What’s in your shame backpack that you are ready to put down? What are the thoughts and habits that are keeping you from a fulfilled and happy life? Are you ready to make a F-It list?

144 Minimize Me: How to ACTUALLY Step Into Your Power Jun 07, 2017
    Show notes

Have you ever heard yourself saying: “I'm kinda clear about what I want, but I keep getting in my own way.” Or “I'm not sure what I want...” Or even “I don't know how I feel- I'm just confused.”? Well, today, Alex talks about the lack of clarity, the confusion and the self-sabotage that all women seem to experience. She attributes this to the fact that we, as women, have all been trained to minimize our thoughts, emotions and even our strengths and talents. Alex points out that we have shut ourselves down, in so many ways and for such a long time, that

Alex points out that we have shut ourselves down, in so many ways and for such a long time, that we have become completely out of practice with connecting with what is true and good. We're so disconnected that even our ability to create what we want and feel the way we'd like to feel has become severely damaged! Our ability to stop harming ourselves with negative thinking or bad eating habits has also been affected because it's all connected! Listen in to find out more.

Today, Alex talks about Minimize Me, which she explains, is such a big show topic, that she's turned it into a whole blog series. (You can access the blog on either www.alexandrajamieson.com, or on www.herrulesradio.com) The gist of it is that we're stuffing down our strengths, covering up our quirks and ignoring our truth! Alex hears this, almost daily, from clients and friends and she's definitely experienced this for herself, throughout her life. Listen in today, as Alex gives you some ways to overcome your habit of minimizing your dreams, desires and even your truth!

143 Healing the Mother Wound with Bethany Webster May 31, 2017
    Show notes

Do you know what it actually means for women to step into their power? This is really something that needs to be considered when you look at the frightening and dangerous things that are going on for women in Texas at the moment. The Texas lawmakers are trying to make it even harder for women to have control over their bodies and their lives, by attempting to make it illegal to drive a woman to a safe abortion provider!

According to a study done by the University of Texas recently, in the six years since Planned Parenthood and other safe abortion providers and women's health clinics there have been de-funded, the death rate in maternal health has doubled. This de-funding has also resulted in the closure of more than eighty clinics, most of which were in rural areas where no alternative care facilities have been provided. This means that in the two years since the cuts were implemented, the remaining health clinics in the state of Texas are only able to serve half the women who were being taken care of before.

Alex points out that de-funding Planned Parenthood and making safe abortions harder to obtain does not stop abortion. It only stops safe abortion. This is why Alex refers to woman's health as a revolution. It's a battle being waged every day and women's lives are at risk! This is what prompted her to give a talk at The Women's Empowerment Expo in Washington DC on the Memorial Day weekend. Listen in today, as Alex gives you a brief overview of the talk that she gave at the Expo, called The Foundations of Women's Power.

142 Reproductive Justice as a Women's Health Advocate with Dr. Willie Parker May 24, 2017
    Show notes

In the next couple of weeks, I will be launching a Patreon campaign for Her Rules Radio. There will be different levels of support, but we have lots of exciting bonuses coming your way!

Years ago in college, I investigated some women’s health clinics for a newspaper article and found several fake ones, who only provided misinformation. Then I went to a Planned Parenthood clinic. Boy, talk about a world of difference in the quality of the information, as well as in the level of respect and dignity with which I was treated! Not judgment, no pressure, just the facts!

There is a disturbing trend going on right now, where many states are trying ban abortion - a further assault on women’s health in our country! Today is a show that isn’t about politics. It’s about women and their health. It’s about being able to make choices about your health and family that are in the best interests of your family. Women of color are disproportionately affected by abortion, further keeping many families trapped in poverty.

This week’s interview is with Dr. Willie Parker, the author of Life’s Work - A Moral Argument for Choice. He grew up in a Christian home in the deep South. As a Doctor, he realized that in order to show true Biblical compassion to women, he needed to provide abortion services. His journey has been a transformative one, as he eventually left his Obstetrics practice and gave up his penthouse in Hawaii, to begin life in the deep South as an itinerant abortion provider traveling between Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia. Listen to his amazing interview as he beautifully lays out the moral case for compassion through choice.
