    Angie’s Favorite Video Apps

At this point, you can pretty much create any content you need on an iPhone. But you do still need to edit those beautiful videos after you capture them, so I asked Angie how she does it.

    1. InShot - A surprisingly robust video editor for mobile
    2. Hype Type - Add animated text to videos
    3. Continual - This will break your video up into 15-second clips for Instagram

    033: Bob Burg | How To Be a Go-Giver Influencer Jun 04, 2018
    Show notes

I was introduced to Bob Burg and his best-selling book The Go-Giver a few years ago, and by introduced I mean Kim would not let up until I read the book – and for good reason! At this point, it’s definitely the book Kim and I have gifted to the most people.

After reading The Go-Giver, I realized that, in business, I was more focused on me and my goals than what the other people’s needs were. I figure I’m not the only person out there who needs a dose of go-giving in their business life, so I start this conversation off by talking about how Bob does sales.

Then we dive deep into Bob’s new book, The Go-Giver Influencer: A Little Story About a Most Persuasive Idea. In one way or another, we’re all influencers in today’s digital world – and the insights in this book can be leveraged by anyone to grow their personal or business brand.

    In This Conversation We Cover:

    • [4:20] Growing up in the Burg household
    • [6:10] Learning about sales from Zig Ziglar & Tom Hopkins
    • [8:50] The principles of being a good writer
    • [11:00] Bob’s advice for mastering the sale
    • [18:45] Questions you can ask yourself to focus your efforts more on giving people high value
    • [21:20] Everything you need to know about becoming a Go-Giver Influencer
    • [25:20] The 8 words you can say to move people to your side of an issue (when you have no common ground)
    • [29:30] What it means to listen with the back of your neck & how you can use that strategy in your life
    • [30:50] Good & bad goals for aspiring influencers
    • [33:00] A huge mistake Bob made with one of his books & how he was able to turn it around
    • [38:15] Playing hard
    • [41:45] Your questions for Bob

    We’re All Salespeople

Everyone has to sell themselves, regardless of what they do… but not everyone is doing a great job!

Bob says that people don’t pay enough attention to what is going on in the mind of the prospective customer or client and pay way too much attention to their product or service.

“If you think about it, selling is nothing more than discovering what the other person needs, wants, or desires – and then helping them to get it.”

031: Jill Coleman | Gaining Unstoppable Clarity May 28, 2018

Everyone I know has been telling me that I have to interview Jill Coleman, who is like a fitness model and captain of industry all rolled into one. Jill is the owner of the hugely successful brand JillFit, where she helps people in the areas of mindset, physique, and business.

    • [16:50] A crazy story about running into your ex-husband, staying friends, & the power of mindset
    • [29:20] Forgiveness & trust

    • [38:25] Getting out of “blame & complain” and into relentless positivity
    • [40:40] Using practical pessimism as a productivity tool
    • [42:10] Why Jill created JillFit & what she’s doing next
    • [45:20] What Play Hard looks like for Jill
    • [54:10] Jill’s evening wind down routine
    • [58:00] Your questions for Jill

    Stoic Philosophy & Playing Hard

Memento Mori translates to remember death, and it’s a phrase at the heart of Stoic philosophy.

For Jill, it really means creating or living life to the fullest. “Remember Death reminds me that this is finite. I have a limited amount of days or hours or minutes that I get to live and be in this space, and for me, it reminds me to take action, to do the scary stuff, to invest, to make a choice when I’m scared.”

    Practical Pessimism & Productivity

Practical pessimism is really just a systematic way of looking at all of the scenarios that could happen if you take a big leap.

Say you’re going to start a business. Ask yourself, what is the worst thing that could possibly happen? Most people might go to I’m broke, homeless, or have to move back in with their parents.

Then ask yourself two more questions: If that happened, could you handle it? And if that did transpire, what is one single step you could take to get back to baseline?

There’s actually a lot of freedom in the worst-case scenario because it’s almost never as bad as you think it’s going to be.
