Welcome to EKA134.5, a bite sized minisode from emo kids anonymous! Today we are joined by Catherine, our producer/showrunner/wrangler of Robb, in a special look at the person behind the curtain at EKA HQ. Catherine joined our team a few months ago, after already spending months working with me on tons of NAPNET LLC, EKA LLC, and Robb Laffoon LLC ventures. We figured our team needed to grow to keep up with us and what better person than someone we already both knew and trusted. In this clip we get CZB's thoughts on the EKA process, her experience so far, and just who tf she is exactly. If you're in a band, there's a good chance you've already spoken with her but now we can put a face to the name or whatever the expression is!

Welcome to EKA134! Today we are joined by Ryan Dominguez of Tokyo Rose! These New Jersey scene favorites of the 2000s went away in 2008 and recently came back with two new singles so we had to find out what the hell happened in the last 18 years. We discuss the glory days of the 2000s New Jersey scene. Bands like Midtown (hi Gabe!), Lifetime, Thursday, Saves The Day, we touch on all of them. We talk touring with the likes of Taking Back Sunday and Bayside, the end of the band, and what led to the rebirth (shoutout Emo Night Karaoke!). Along with this, we also touch on the differences between then and now when it comes to being in a band. Content creation, social media, etc. We’ve come a long way since Myspace! What’s the Mt Rushmore of New Jersey? What state has the best pizza? What is the true ti-state area? Who is the BEST band outta the area? All that and more as Mr. Tokyo Rose tells all in this salacious interview! (LOL)
Tokyo Rose just dropped a new single, Ugly Comes Out, go stream it on your preferred streaming platform. Thanks for joining us Ryan!

Welcome to another snack sized minisode of Emo Kids Anonymous! Today we are joined once again by Tori Town of Tori Town! 30 episodes ago Tori joined us to talk about her house show venue getting shut down by the Holyoke PD after successfully putting on 60+ shows. This led to Tori Town the venue closing but Tori Town the person kicked into full gear. By moving her diy festival Townfest from her house to a new location, she was able to keep it alive last month and possibly going forward. We talk about what's next. Possibly more shows? tapes? compilations? the skies are limitless or whatever they say. Along with all of this, Tori and I talk about some of our favorite bands in the scene like tenmonthsummer and Dear Cincinnati.

Welcome to EKA133! Today we're joined by Ohio emo band Palette Knife! This week the Columbus band are dropping their third album Keyframe (April 10th on Take This To Heart Records, shoutout Joe!), and Alec, Aaron and Chris joined me to yap about the making of the record. Along with this, we also discussed their recent performance at XLNC Fest in Michigan, as well as some of our favorite bands and friends: T!IHI, Cheem, FinalBossFight, Kerosene (and Hawthorne) Heights, No Problemo!, plus the band they're touring with this spring, Stars Hollow! Billy Mannino is discussed, as always, plus they pick the next emo band up in the scene.
Be sure to go stream Keyframe when it drops on Friday. I've had this album for a few weeks and it is absolutely incredible. Pound for pound, Take This To Heart might be the best label in the game right now. There's a reason we have on so many of their bands, they're all great. This isn't a paid spot, this is just facts. Great job Joe! And to the Palette Lifers, Wifers and Knifers, this record is your best work yet.

Welcome to EKA132! Today we're joined by Jeremy Scott, a DIY promoter out of Baltimore who has a festival coming up on May 30th at Zen West in Baltimore. We talk all about Jermfest, how it came to be, the ins and outs of booking it and so much. more. At the time of recording, he had Jake Langley of Handguns booked and this was the week before I spoke with Jake so there was some fun Jake lore shared on camera (and even more off). We talk about his entrypoint into the scene, his favorite bands, and so much more.

Welcome to EKA131! Today we are joined by Kevin Cappy, aka HummusVacuum. We knew this one was gonna be a great time but this truly exceed expectations. From his transition from The Grievance Club to HummusVacuum, to creating content, to how to properly pull one over on the self checkout machines, this interview was equally informative as it was entertaining. We talk about some of our mutual friends of the show like Adjust The Sails and Dear Cincinnati, as well as Alex Trebek and the kid from The Sixth Sense that sees the dead people. Oh yeah, and of course we had some lovely messages for friends of the show RFK Jr and Donnie Trump LOL.
Go check out HummusVacuum on your preferred streaming platform.

Welcome to another little mini episode! Today we're talking about Robb's weekend, more specifically his experience at the Savannah Banana's game doing work with Brotege and the Man-Nana's cheer squad. Okay idk why I started this in third person it's clearly me typing, yeah this was an awesome time and I am super excited for you to see more content to come from this but for now I just wanted to give you all a little run down of it all because it was truly the most magical time. Thank you to the Man-nana's and Banana's for being so hospitable and thank you to Brotege for letting me tag along.
Along with this, we also discuss the popular move of bands bringing out special guests. At some point does it become expected? Does it stop being special? Do you like this? What about when bands announce the setlist ahead of times? Weigh in down in the comments pals!

Welcome to EKA129! Today we are joined by Jake Davis from the San Diego band Ikana! When I interviewed Jake, he was one day removed from playing a show with Jake Langley of Handguns (this was before Handguns pt 2 ) so we had lots to talk about. Ikana have been laying claim to the term Southwest Emo and in this wide ranging conversation Jake Davis makes a strong case for Ikana to be considered THE southwest emo band. We talk his norcal origins, the state of the San Diego scene today vs. when I was involved many moons ago, as well as our favorite local spots for shows and burritos. Also, we talk about Creed more than you'd think?
Either way, Jake was a treat and Ikana are grinding away and I'm excited to see where the rest of 2026 takes them as they navigate writing, recording and releasing music as well as touring. Oh yeah, they do all this in house as well. True DIY spirit. Go listen to Ikana on your preferred streaming service and follow them on social media! @ikanaband
