Welcome to EKA121! Today we are joined by Margaret's Sick, a queer emo band out of the pacific northwest. I had a great time chatting with the band as well as their manager Jocelyn about emo and everything else. We talked about Gonzaga basketball, great bands from the Seattle area and so much more. From the songwriting process, to the power of friendship to the importance of community within the music scene, Margaret's sick were lowkey kinda sick! Check Margaret's Sick out on the internet they make some of my favorite songs in our scene right now!

Welcome to EKA120! Today we not only welcome Amanda back to the show, but we also welcome MJ Kramer from Latenightsinmycar. to the show! MJ gives us the full band lore plus so many other fun stories. She tells us how she was able to get Kellin Quinn on a track, singing on stage with State Champs and so much more. Also, a Never!Shout!Never! reference on the pod? about time! Lowkey yall, at one point I teared up as she walked us through her weight loss journey and that first time feeling comfortable enough to crowd surf. Plus, we also discuss late night car activities!

Welcome to a super special bonus edition of EKA! This is EKA119.5! What's the occasion? Well as you may have seen, not only is Amanda back but Fall Out Boy have also recently released the famous FUCT demos by sending out copies to some random fans. Is there still more demos to come? By the way, welcome back Amanda!

Welcome to EKA 119! Today we're joined by Matthew Ellis and Ricky Gonzalez from the Ohio emo band Surrender The Ghost! From DIY to Deshaun Watson to Warped Tour to 2000's emo, this one has a little bit of everything for you. Hawthorne Heights, Palette Knife, Brandtson, we cover a lot of eras of emo, plus there is even a Mike Gundy moment! Are you surprised Hilary Duff is playing such large venues too, or are we old out of touch middle aged men? Don't worry, we cover that as well, hence the Mike Gundy mention. These guys were great fun. They said they would bring the energy like Handguns and although they aren't quite in the Langley league, they were still a pretty good time!

Welcome to EKA 118! Today we're joined by Atlanta emo band We Hate Rowan! What started out as a side project for Rowan has turned into a full band with Ethan and Voss rounding out the group. Full disclosure, these mfs are HILARIOUS. I hate to say it but I'm not sure I hate Rowan after all. We talk about everything from Fall Out Boy to Michael Cera Palin to Thoughts on Bowling to Adjust The Sails, Dear Cincinnati and so many others. Rowan seems to be starting beef everywhere and we get into it here. How tf do you not know Gavin Rossdale?!

Welcome to EKA 117! Today we are joined by Fred Cimato from 2000's emo scene stalwarts Cute Is What We Aim For. Fred has been making headlines this week thanks to a few tiktok videos but as we know, tiktok is no place for nuance so I thought it was only fair to give Fred the chance to expand on his statements but more importantly, tell his side of the story and control his narrative. Does he really think they were better than Paramore?Did John Feldmann ruin the band? Are the lyrics misogynistic? Is Shaant a dick? Can his past comments and behavior be atoned for? Does he want to? Will the fans ever get a CIWWAF reunion? We answer all of this and more.
Fred walks us through the whole history and band lore. From high school hallways in Buffalo to forming the band and finding themselves getting signed by John Janick and Fueled By Ramen in a matter of months. After that it was a whirlwhind of success for a band that may have been too young to be able to handle the pressures and pitfalls that come with. Tours with Fall Out Boy, Warped Tours, MySpace success and so many breakups. "The Same Old Blood Rush With A New Touch" was the fastest selling debut in FBR history and we talk about that era and what caused the breakup (sorry, John!). The story of Cute Is What We Aim For is worthy of it's own documentary and I hope I did a decent job cosplaying as journalist. Thank you for joining me Fred, it was a pleasure speaking with you!

Welcome to EKA 116! Today we are joined by Wayne Snow of Howling At The Earth for a wide ranging conversation that covers a little bit of everything. From anime to Coheed and Cambria to his local community, Wayne was an open book and we had one of the more intelligent conversations in EKA history. We discuss his emo origins, the pandemic, sick wolf blankets and so much more. Wayne is an incredibly talented and introspective individual, one of West Virginia's finest if you ask me. Go check him out at howlingearthmusic.com!

Welcome to EKA115! Today we are joined by a highly requested guest, Dear Maryanne, Freddy and the fellas have been putting in work the last few years and it's been beautiful to see this band grow from the outside but getting to chat with them and learn about their backstory made me fall in love with Dear Maryanne even more. In this interview (conducted from their tour van outside of Mike from Summerbruise's house) we talk about their upcoming tour, their emo origins, as well as their upcoming EP coming out on March 3rd. The Massachusetts trio will be on the road this spring on a jam packed tour featuring support from some friends of our show like Dear Cincinnati, Pretty Bitter, Cheem and more. We discuss those bands, plus others like Kerosene Heights and TRSH along with their favorite records of 2025 as well as their future plans. Have a great tour, see you boys at the LA date!
