Welcome to EKA128.5, a minisode celebrating the one year anniversary of this program. One year, 128 episodes, countless interviews, silly sketches, memories and magic. When we started this show I don't think either of us would have dreamed of being where we are today and this minisode is a celebration of all we have accomplished in that time. From interviewing our favorite bands to getting to meet eachother in person, adding Catherine to our team, flying to LA for meetings with our boy Minardi and everything inbetween. If you're watching this, thank you. Never did we imagine we would have gotten to do so many cool things in the past year and so much of that is thanks to you, our viewers/listeners/friends/fans/parasocial bullies. Please let us know in the comments your favorite memories and/or guests in show history. Actually, let us know your least favorite too. And seriously, THANK YOU for being so cool. Wether you've been here for one year or one episode, we can't express how grateful we are and how insane it is to have anyone care about what we have to say. Without you, it would just be us. <3

Welcome to EKA128! Today we are joined by Dylan Hryciuk, a Canadian Filmmaker who recently released Our Last Days As Kids, a short film that is like Almost Famous and Mid90s took place in the late 2000s with scene kids. Dylan has also made music videos for artists like Spiritbox and Senses Fail. We discuss his filmmaking journey, the difficulties he faced licensing music for the film and more. After a recent run of accolades from TIFF, SIFF and the Moose Jaw Film Festival, Dylan finally gets his biggest accomplishment of all...The EKA Seal of Approval! In all seriousness, Our Last Days as Kids made Robb cry multiple times, so check it out HERE.

Welcome to a EKA127.5, a mini episode (minisode) about the future of music festivals. Among other things we discuss the future or not future of When We Were Young, Waterparks and the Vans Warped Tour, plus the financial side of things. Has the over corporatization of the major festivals made smaller ones more appealing? What if we put together our own festival featuring bands from our show and scene? Would that be like, totally crazy or nah? What do you think? Are festivals a little friggity right now or are you happy with things? What are your favorites? Expect a couple of these little bite sized episodes every week (sorry, more of us).

Welcome to EKA127! Today we are joined by Capture This, a pop punk band based out of Denver, CO. A couple months ago we asked who we should have on the show and no band was tagged more than Capture This so we had to see what the fuss was all about. Leah, Zach and Alex were an absolute pleasure to have on and they walked us through the history of their band. From their Craigslist origins to recording at Bill Stevenson's Fort Collins studio The Boiler Room to working with Dan Swank, the story of Capture This is interesting as hell. We spoke about other Denver bands, including friends of the show Relate. as well as 3OH!3 of course. Also, LOLitslea, is that her name? I think we have to book her. Robb also apologized to the city of Denver for past misinformation. Capture This have a midwest run coming up and after that, they have a very bright future we're excited to see where they go.
Check them out on the internet.

Welcome to EKA126! Today we're joined by Chemical Sun out of Springfield Missouri. This band blends the best of early millennial rock music. Post hardcore, pop punk, emo, even a little butt rock. We talk about the bands origins and writing process as well as the difficulties of parenting (sorry Devon, kinda bit your whole thing). Kevin also owns a merch company that prints garments for many friends of the show, including halftimeshow, Thoughts on Bowling and Dear Cincinnati. We talk about these bands along with their local pal Derek Berry of TRSH.

welcome to the interview I never thought would happen, nor wanted to. When we were joined by Handguns last fall we were expecting a routine interview with a veteran pop punk band. Instead, we were subjected to shenanigans, disrespect and downright unpalatable behavior at the hands of Handguns, most notably Jake Langley. "Never again" we vowed. Amanda was LIVID. Well, here we are six months later and I am sitting down in my living room one on one with Jake Langley to discuss the events that transpired during the worst interview of all time.
This interview is unsanctioned, unauthorized and uncensored. Neither NAPNET nor EKA LLC endorse or approve of this interview. However, I am a believer in begging for forgiveness before asking for permission so here we are.
Laffoon vs Langley. Round 2. Live and in person.
Viewer discretion is advised.

Welcome to EKA 125! Today we are joined by Mitchell Jay aka Mitchell Kinn aka Mr. Yummy himself. When Berkeley from Thoughts on Bowling came on our show a few months ago and hinted at the identify of their new singer I went full tinfoil hat, so when they announced Mitchell as the new vocalist I knew we had to get him on the show to learn more. We dive into how he became the new frontman for one of emo's hottest new bands as well as the wild and weirdly theatrical road he took to get there. As a vocal coach who works with the singers of some of your favorite bands like Arm's Length and Hot Mulligan, Mitchell is an expert at the instrument that is the human voice and he was nice enough to give us a little lesson on how to sing like Patrick Stump. Straight up, this might have been Amanda's favorite moment on the show, it was magical. I'm very excited to see what the future holds for Thoughts on Bowling with Mitchell on the mic because if there performance at Burn Bright is any indication, they're about to hit a whole new level. See you fellas next month in Pomona!

Welcome to EKA124! Today we are joined by Cam, Gardner and Will from Primrose, an emo band from Maine (not to be confused with an emo band called The Maine, who they had a strong message for!). The fellas took us through the history of Primrose, from Cam and Gardner recording the record in their pandemic pod with two mics, to expanding the band, to recording Sad In The Northeast! We talk about The Office, Drinking Out of Cups, and what The Maine have to do to rightfully claim the state. Who is the president of emo? who fills up their cabinet? We uhh, weirdly took a stab at this and I think we did okay? Go stream Primrose's newest single Pissing Contest (i'm losing) on all your favorite platforms or whatever.
Check out Primrose on the internet here!

Welcome to EKA123! Today I am joined by Kieffer and Joe from Tequila Mockingbird and we are celebrating the release of their new album "You Always Felt Lost", available as of today March 13! I knew this was going to be a special episode before we started because these mfs have been raved about in multiple episodes. If a band is from Michigan and they've been on our show, chances are they not only know TM, but they've probably played a show at Kieffer's house, also known as The Goblin Zone. In this interview we talk all about the Goblin Zone as well as all of the other infamous house show venues in Michigan that we have heard about on the pod. From the Church of Elvis Presley to the HOG house, this interview left me wishing I lived in Michigan (never thought I'd say that). We also dive into the origins of the band, their current and past favorite bands, and the making of LP1. These two are some of my favorite guests in show history, I hope you appreciate this interview as much as I appreciated taking part in it.

Welcome to EKA122! Today we are joined by Kayla Moreno, a journalist and photographer from the Bay Area. Kayla runs a quarterly zine as well as a substack and is also part of punkaganda press. Kayla and Amanda go way back in the Fall Out Boy community and we have been running in similar circles for a while so it was only a matter of time before we all sat down. Kayla interviewed Fred from Cute is What We Aim For the day before us so we talk about that experience as well as some other notable interviews like Chad Gilbert of New Found Glory, along with how she got started. Do you want to be a photographer, journalist, podcaster etc? Then this is the megasode for you.
