Ep. 165: True Crime: The Murder of Hermine Hug-Hellmuth Mar 03, 2022
    Show notes

Last week we saw and absolutely hated the forced "therapy" group date that the women had to endure in Vienna, Austria.

Megan tells the story of the life and murder of Hermine Hug-Hellmuth, one of the very very first child psychoanalysts, from Vienna. Hermine was murdered at the hand of one of the children she frequently studied and observed in her work. This story has twists you do and do not see coming.

CONTENT WARNING: Brief mention of suicide (Story Starts at: 16:43).

Next week Danielle is going to cover a story based on the hometown dates on The Bachelor. The ladies are from the following locations: Gabby (Denver, Colorado), Serene (Oklahoma City, Oklahoma), Rachel (Clermont, Florida), and Susie (Virginia Beach, Virginia). If you have a story you would like us to cover, based on one of these locations, send us a DM on Instagram or Twitter, or an email at CrimeandRoses@Gmail.com

    Ep. 164: Proceed with Caution (Season 26, Week 8) Mar 01, 2022
    Show notes

We are bringing back the tarot readings for every episode of Clayton’s season of The Bachelor. Megan asked the Final Rose Tarot cards what we can expect from this week of The Bachelor. Megan pulled the 9 of Rings, aka the Influencer card, and maybe this card was supposed to be for last week’s shopping spree date with Susie because we’re just not seeing it for this week.

This week is hometowns! The dads and Gabby’s grandpa John are the real winners tonight. All of the women have such amazing families and strong support systems. We don’t feel like Clayton was worthy of meeting any of them, but nonetheless, we are here to watch it all go down.

We MUST highlight Serene this week, follow her here! Our hearts hurt for her to get the boot and on the last day of BHM at that! Serene was able to open up in ways that she never had before. She is going to be a great partner for someone and she gives us BIP-ready vibes! Also, brother Roland (AKA Oklahoma Obama) can get it, just had to throw that in there, sorry!

Ep. 163: True Crime: The Murder of Mary Ellen Deener Feb 24, 2022
    Show notes

It’s Black History Month, and we are focusing on stories from the Black community.

Last week we saw Clayton give a … strange response to Teddi saying she was a virgin. That led us into a conversation about what a virgin “looks like.” We also discuss the sexualization of black girls.

This week Danielle gives us more information about the over-sexualization of black girls in this country, with information from a recent study.

She also tells us about the murder of Mary Ellen Deener. Her killer was caught the very next day, only to be released from prison to go Christmas shopping in 1973, to never return.

Lester Eubanks, who now is in his mid-70s, was described as a 5-foot-11-inch male with black hair and brown eyes. At the time of his disappearance, he weighed approximately 175 pounds. Other unique physical characteristics include a mole under his left eye.

Anyone who has information on Eubanks is asked to call the U.S. Marshals Service tip line at 866-4-WANTED.

CONTENT WARNING: Child murder and child sexual assault. (Story Starts at: 3:43).

Ep. 162: It’s Getting Pretty White in Austria (Season 26, Week 7) Feb 22, 2022
    Show notes

We are bringing back the tarot readings for every episode of Clayton’s season of The Bachelor. This week Megan asked the Final Rose Tarot cards what we can expect from this season of the Bachelor. Megan pulled the “ITM” card, which equates to the Hermit in the traditional Major Arcana. This card is urging us to be still in the moment and truly listen to our innermost desires, kind of like the couples on the forced therapy group date.

Susie gets the shopping spree date, and becomes “Lady in Red”. A forced therapy group date reveals some truths, particularly with Genevieve and Sarah. Serene also gets a one-on-one date, exploring the city of Vienna, Austria.

This week we are highlighting and saying goodbye to Eliza. We can’t talk enough about how STUNNING she is. This is now an Eliza stan podcast and we feel good about it. Follow her here! We also say goodbye to so many WOC including, Mara, Sarah, and Teddi. We are down to one BIPOC contestant.

Interview with Page Pressley (Bachelorette Season 16) February 2022 Bachelor Patreon Exclusive Feb 18, 2022
    Show notes

This is a sneak peek of our January 2022 Bachelor Patreon Exclusive content. You can hear the full episode here. Starting at the $3 level of our Patreon membership! We sit down with Page Pressley, from Clare’s season of the Bachelorette. We never got an opportunity to really get to know him on the show, as he was sent home night one, but we really enjoyed getting to know him. Page tells us how he was recruited to the show, his experience in quarantine, and what he is up to now. We had an incredibly deep conversation as Page reflects on his experience, so much so that Megan and Danielle may not need to go to therapy this week (or we need an extra session to process)! Page is incredibly insightful and just kept dropping truth bombs. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/crimeandroses/support

Ep. 161: True Crime: The Murders of Britney Cosby and Crystal Jackson Feb 17, 2022
    Show notes

It’s Black History Month, and we are focusing on stories from the Black community.

Last week we saw a one-on-one date that takes place in Galveston, Texas, so Danielle covers a story from the area.

Britney and Crystal were a young couple in love, trying to figure out life together in Houston, Texas. They were also trying to give the best possible to Crystal’s young daughter. Unfortunately, it seems like a family member was both jealous of their successes and unapproving of their love. Britney and Crystal were murdered and dumped in Galveston, by someone who should have loved them unconditionally.

CONTENT WARNING: sexuality motivated murder and a brief mention of sexual assault (no details). (Story Starts at: 10:08).

Ep. 160: The Bachelor: Tears, Tears, Hashtag Tears (Season 26, Week 6) Feb 16, 2022
    Show notes

We are bringing back the tarot readings for every episode of Clayton’s season of The Bachelor. This week Megan asked the Final Rose Tarot cards what we can expect from this season of the Bachelor. Megan pulled the Queen of Mirrors, aka the Bitch card. We think this card is telling us about the downfall of one villain, and the rise of another.

Ya’ll, Clayton is so dumb. We just cannot say it enough. The decisions just don’t make any kind of sense. This week we FINALLY see Shanae go home. We do get an iconic moment from OUR NEXT BACHELORETTE (in our dreams, not confirmed or a spoiler) Gabby! Per the usual Bachelor Formula, as soon as the current villain goes home, another one emerges. We see Mara start to unravel and target Sarah. We see Clayton say gross things about Teddi’s virginity, and we truly hate it. There’s also a knight-themed group date, and Sarah gets her second one-on-one date.

We discuss some recent Bachelor Nation News surrounding current contestants, specifically Marlena and Sarah, and some recent anti-Asian sentiments that were expressed on social media. Marlena has since apologized to Sarah, and Sarah has accepted, but we thought it was too important to not discuss.

Ep. 159: The Murders of Harry and Harriette Moore Feb 10, 2022
    Show notes

It’s Black History Month, and we are focusing on stories from the Black community.

Last week the show took us to a place they called an “international” destination, but it turned out to be Houston, Texas. In the case Megan tells today, one of the victims was born in Houston, Florida.

Megan tells the story of husband and wife Harry and Harriette Moore, who were the first couple to be killed in the Civil Rights Movement. Harry was the first NAACP official to be killed in the movement. The Moore’s murder was also very closely tied to the story of the Groveland Four, documented in the “Devil in the Grove” by Gilbert King.

CONTENT WARNING: race motivated murder, brief mention of sexual assault, brief mention of suicide. (Story Starts at: 6:33).

Ep. 158 The Bachelor: Clayton is a Clown (Season 26, Week 5) Feb 08, 2022
    Show notes

We are bringing back the tarot readings for every episode of Clayton’s season of The Bachelor. This week Megan asked the Final Rose Tarot cards what we can expect from this season of the Bachelor. Megan pulled the Villian card… and WOW, this card is spot on.

This week was… something. Unfortunately, we are not over the Shanae bullshit, this is ridiculous, will it ever end? We also see a one on one with Serene in Galveston, a one on one with Gabby in Toronto, and a group roast date. We are also teased with the end of the Shanae drama, it seems like a two-on-one date is right around the corner.

This week we are highlighting another woman who was sent home (they are dropping like flies), Sierra! Sierra was spitting straight FACTS, we also loved her slick pony, body glitter, and cheekbones! This franchise has a history of casting black women for entertainment and not falling in love with the lead. We believe we see that here. Sierra was very vocal about Shanae and her behavior, but Clayton decided to believe Shanae as she weaponized her white tears, played the victim. Sierra deserves so much better and we hope to see her in Bachelor in Paradise. We also say goodbye to Jill, her cat will be happy once again.
