Show notes

We are back from a break last week as Danielle had COVID. She is still recovering, but ready to jump back in and tell us a story. We are also still on a break from the Bachelor, but the Bachelorette will premiere July 11! Join us on Patreon as we talk about the men who are going to be on this season and of course, join us for our weekly recaps of the episodes.

Danielle was asked to cover this case from an Instagram DM from @SoZoTheGoldenDoodle. Multiple elderly women died in facilities and private homes in and around the Dallas, Texas area. Until one women’s tale of survival led law enforcement to an alleged serial killer targeting vulnerable women. After putting the pieces together, one man is alleged to have killed a total of 18 elderly people.

Ep. 181 True Crime: The Heist of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum Jun 02, 2022

Show notes

We are still on a break from the Bachelor but connecting our stories to the franchise. We are already looking forward to Bachelor in Paradise this season, and Megan bases her story this week on someone we are very likely to see on the sand, Genevieve Parisi. Genevieve is from Massachusetts, now living in Southern California.

The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, in Boston, Massachusetts, is the home of the vast personal art collection of Isabella Stewart Gardner. Over St. Patrick’s Day weekend of 1990, thirteen pieces of art were stolen and this heist was the highest value museum heist for 29 years. (Story Starts at: 16:48) STORY CONTENT WARNING: Brief mention of a Child Death

We also briefly discuss the recent events in Uvalde, Texas, and Buffalo, New York at the top of the episode. Of course, our thoughts and prayers are with the affected families, but something more must be done. We urge you to reach out to your Senators and Representatives and urge action. Sharon McMahon has some great tools on how to do that, check her out on Instagram. Ep. 180 True Crime: The Murder of Kari Lynn Nixon May 26, 2022

Show notes

We are still on a break from the Bachelor but connecting our stories to the franchise. Danielle heard of this case because of its interesting boy band connection, and we are reminded of Listen to Your Heart! We're also reminded of our boy band manager, the naked one, BIP contestant, and Mari’s fiancé Kenny.

Danielle tells the story of the murder of Kari Lynn Nixon. Kari disappeared within a 5-minute timeframe, blocks away from her home. At first, authorities weren't sure if she ran away or was abducted. Law enforcement chased leads all over the country, including a lead connecting law enforcement with the boy band New Kids on the Block when Kari’s family and law enforcement thought they saw her in their music video “My Favorite Girl.” It was a surprising and out-of-the-blue confession that finally brought the family some answers.

Show notes

We are still on a break from the Bachelor but connecting our stories to the franchise. This week, a Bach Nation couple got married, FINALLY, but not for lack of trying. Congratulations to Bachelorette 12 JoJo Fletcher, and her final rose, Jordan Rogers. Their wedding is what Megan uses as a backdrop for this week’s story.

Megan tells the story of the Murder of Molly Watson. Molly was just two days away from marrying her longtime partner when she was shot and killed. This story takes a definite turn when the police show up to inform Molly’s fiancé of her death and his wife answers the door.

Ep. 178 True Crime: The Murder of Alan Berg May 12, 2022

Show notes

We are still on a break from the Bachelor, but connecting our stories to the franchise. Stagecoach 2022 was held at the end of April, it’s a country music festival that Bachelor Nation always seems to flock to. This year, Blake Hortsmann (aka Balaockaye), performed as a DJ, and the crowd seemed to love it. Blake and Stagecoach also had a whole storyline on Bachelor In Paradise Season 6. This week’s story is for Blake, who calls Denver, Colorado home with a dope roommate Elyse!

This week, Megan tells the story of the murder of Alan Berg. Alan was an outspoken Jewish talk radio host, whose show on KOA AM 850 in Denver could be heard in over 30 states. Sources say that Alan had an abrasive on-air personality, and was always ready to call out anti-Semitism and other forms of racism. Unfortunately, this made him a target of a white supremacist group, the Order.

Ep. 177 True Crime: The Death of James Powell and the Harlem Riots of 1964 May 05, 2022

Show notes

We are still on a break from the Bachelor, but connecting our stories to the franchise. Bachelor contestants tend to migrate to certain cities after the show (San Diego, Nashville, etc). New York seems to be the new hot spot, so Danielle covers a NY case. Danielle also heard the story while watching “Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty,” which she says is a great show on HBO. Basketball was a theme during Matt James and Queen Michelle Young’s season.

Harlem, New York has fluctuated between a booming city of black excellence and a place of extreme violence, drugs, and crime. In 1964, weeks after the Civil Rights Act, James Powell, a 15-year-old black boy, was killed by a police officer. The death outraged the city and led to days of protest.

Ep. 176 True Crime: The Solitary Confinement of Dennis Wayne Hope Apr 28, 2022

Show notes

We are still on our Bachelor break, and still bringing you stories connected to the whole of Bachelor Nation. We know that The Bachelor franchise gives contestants very little access to the outside world when they are on the show. This is Danielle’s inspiration and connection for this week’s story.

This is a non-murder true crime story. Dennis Wayne Hope currently spends virtually every waking minute alone in a jail cell smaller than a compact parking space. Decades of isolation have led to hallucinations, chronic pain, and thoughts of taking his life. While incarcerated, for a non-violent offense after several prison escapes, he is trying to bring light to the issue of prolonged solitary confinement and the Supreme Court of the United States may be listening.

Ep. 175 True Crime: The Murder of Jason Michael Fox Apr 21, 2022

Show notes

We are still on our Bachelor break, and still bringing you stories connected to the whole of Bachelor Nation. Big thanks to Crime and Closets for recommending this story for us to cover!

Megan tells a story from Pend Orielle County, Washington. Washington state is home to several Bachelor contestants including Pieper James, Katie Thurston, and Abigail Heringer – to name a few. Also, our King Nayte went to college at Eastern Washington University, near Spokane, not far from the location of this case.

Megan tells the story of the murder of Jason Michael Fox. Jason was a sweet, creative, and compassionate 19-year-old who was lured to hang out with “friends” in September 2020. These people were NOT Jason’s friends and are accused of taking his life. His family believes Jason was murdered because of his sexual orientation. #JusticeForJason
