    Canadian Club of Toronto

    The Canadian Club of Toronto is Canada’s preeminent public affairs podium. Since 1897, we have served an ambitious and important mission: to connect Canadians with world-class leaders and newsmakers and be a leading platform for influencers to engage Canadians on what matters most.

    Over our 125 year history as a not-for-profit organization, we continue to be a forum for Governors General and Prime Ministers, CEOs and Nobel laureates, scientists, artists and innovators. We have a proud tradition of hosting national and international leaders in politics, business, social innovation and the media, and our members and audiences are drawn from an equally diverse and distinguished group of leaders.

    The Canadian Club addresses routinely generate national coverage across multiple platforms. In addition to reported media coverage and our in-person audience of several hundred people, we make our programming accessible to all Canadians through broadcasts on cable television and webcasts, available online.

    Events run between September and June in downtown Toronto. As an independent, non-profit organization, we make all our events open to the public. Tickets can be purchased online or through our office at 416-364-5590.

Second among the World’s Strongest Banks according to Bloomberg, Desjardins is also since January 1st the largest property and casualty insurer in Ontario and the second largest in the country. With its innovative Ajusto program and the acquisition of State Farm’s Canadian operations, Desjardins is demonstrating a commitment to provide people in Ontario with affordable and sustainable automobile insurance options. Bio Monique F. Leroux is the Chair of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer of Desjardins Group, the leading cooperative financial group in Canada. A member of the Canadian Council of Chief Executives and the Founders’ Council of the Quebec Global 100 network, Ms. Leroux also chairs the Conseil québécois de la coopération et de la mutualité and is a member of the board of directors of Co-operatives and Mutuals Canada. She is a member of the board of directors of the International Co-operative Alliance, the European Association of Co-operative Banks and the International Confederation of Popular Banks and of Crédit Mutuel’s subsidiary CIC (Crédit industriel et commercial). Ms. Leroux is a member of the Governing Board of Finance Montréal, the Advisory Committee on the Canadian Public Service, the Economic advisory council of the Minister of Finance of Canada, the Advisory Council on Women Entrepreneurs and Business Leaders, the Council for Clean Capitalism, the Catalyst Canada Advisory Board and the Trilateral Commission. Ms. Leroux is also a founding partner of the Quebec International Summit of Cooperatives, an international economic and cooperative event, and co-chaired its second edition in 2014. Ms. Leroux is a member of the Order of Canada and an officer of l’Ordre national du Québec. She has received the title of Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur (France), the Woodrow Wilson Award (United States) and the Outstanding Achievement Award from l’Ordre des CPA. She holds honorary doctorates from a number of Canadian universities. Ms. Leroux lends her time to a host of not-for-profit organizations. She is currently the President of Desjardins Foundation and co-chair of the 2014 annual fundraising campaign of United Way of Greater Montreal.
