Starting a podcast is challenging; there are a lot of steps you must take to get it up and running. On the plus side, hearing stories from a person's experience and learning from those stories inspires and empowers audiences. But what if you get tired of editing and making content for your podcast? Are you running out of ideas for what to talk about in your next episode? Who can you run to in order to keep your podcast running?

This week’s Healthcare Hacks and Connections, the 100th episode, our host Nathan Navas will talk about what he has learned from the previous podcasts that have kept him running until then, such as different types of healthcare strategies, several marketing strategies, and a lot more. He will also touch on topics about how HHC helps people grow their podcast journey and how they can help you launch your dream podcast.

He will touch on such topics as:

    • When you take a certain action and you’re not seeing immediate revenue growth, give it at least 3 months for improvements.
    • Create an authority in your podcast so that you can appear in other places.
    • Do not be afraid to sell.
    • Make something memorable and beneficial to your audience.
    • Have patience because there is no immediate success.

    • Take appropriate action. Don’t just passively listen, and don’t expect immediate results.

Hack: Listen to your audience. Make sure to let them know that you are thinking about them at every step of the growth of your podcast.

Ways to Use Authenticity to Build Customer Loyalty with Emily Carlson Nov 10, 2022
    Show notes

PTs and health and fitness coaches in general, let's talk straight. Successful branding doesn’t happen by accident. As a practice owner, your goal is to create strong messaging that makes potential clients feel a certain (positive!) way about you, and the best way to achieve that is with a thought-out branding strategy. Branding is a critical component in marketing your business. It shapes your audience’s perceptions of who you are as a PT or coach. An effective and memorable brand is one where your target audience perceives your business exactly how you wish it to be perceived.

That takes intentionality, strategy and honoring your signature strengths and brilliance as a PT or coach. When executed masterfully, your brand will resonate on an emotional level with your target audience, so much so that they are drawn to you and your offerings and become advocates for your brand.

On today’s episode of Healthcare Hacks and Connections, Emily Carlson shares her wisdom on how being authentic in your branding and messaging is the only way to go if you are to build trust and loyalty. She highlights that your branding strategy has to be audience-oriented in order to speak powerfully to your dream clients.

Emily used to be a fitness and nutrition coach and realized there was a gap for many coaches in the connection with their community and audiences. There was so much focus on what others were doing and not enough introspection and genuine authentic delivery from each individual's core values. And that’s what inspired her to start helping coaches create their brands around the attractive characters within their businesses to improve brand awareness and eliminate the stress around content creation and even make it fun. It’s going to be a value-packed episode as she shares exactly how you can go about that so don’t miss out.

Emily will touch on such topics as:

    • Creating a DIY Brand Blueprint for coaches who can’t afford a branding team.
    • Helping health and fitness coaches to create a connection with their clients by being authentic.
    • How to build a coaching business that can evolve with a big team founded on a culture from the attractive character (The owner of the business).
    • Why branding for most PT practices fails and the content mistakes that coaches make all the time.
    • Having more connection-based calls to action and less salesy calls to action to deliver the value that your target market needs.
    • Messaging secrets to apply in your copy: Start by knowing your ideal client avatar and packaging your service as a solution to their needs.
    • Everything in branding and content marketing comes back to identifying who you are, figuring out how you speak, and how you best communicate.
    • Looking at your business through the lens of having smart goals.
    • Branding and marketing are intertwined, but branding is an identifiable face of who you are, what you present, and how you show up in the space while marketing is more focused on your service and business growth.
    • The importance of making sure your client doesn’t feel like just a number.

Hack: Be more human, show up as a human and be more authentic in your branding and messaging. Don’t say something because you think that’s what your target market wants to hear.

Top Secrets to Success in PT Practice Business with Frank Benedetto Nov 03, 2022
    Show notes

Physical therapy is challenging, especially if you’re the one running the show. The essential skills that a busy PT private practice owner must have to survive in the industry aren’t often highlighted with any certainty. At times, running a clinic feels like juggling on a unicycle through a ring of fire. And even seasoned practice owners are looking for ways to make their work-life more favorable. The busier we get, the more we leave in our wake. Organization and management, even for the busiest physical therapist, are essential engines for business longevity.

The good news is, our guest today on Healthcare Hacks and Connections, Frank Benedetto, will share some strategies you can implement that won't slow you down one bit. Frank helps clinicians launch mission-driven businesses but what’s most unique about him is that he’s actually a clinician first. He’s got the alphabet soup that shows his dedication to the craft of healthcare (PT, DPT, OCS, SCS, CSCS, etc) and he’s walked the walk by building and selling a multi-million dollar direct-to-consumer practice with 5 locations in under 5 years from 2015 to 2019.

His mission is to revolutionize healthcare by inspiring tens of thousands of clinicians to launch niche-based, direct-to-consumer businesses (brick and mortar, digital, and hybrid) outside the traditional medical system. Frank’s driven by a series of life-changing events, including watching his dad die of a heart attack at age 64, that he feels would never have happened if the medical system was reimagined. He will teach us how we can launch a Mission-Driven business to change our lives and the world in the process. The strategies he will share will help you improve overall productivity for yourself, your staff, and most importantly, your patients.

Frank will touch on such topics as:

    • How he overcame impostor syndrome in his early clinician career to become the huge success that he is now.
    • Building a PT practice business that will provide you a great lifestyle and revenue while also delivering great value to patients at a lower price point.
    • Being less credential forward to build a healthcare business founded in your unique way of solving the problems of your potential and existing patients.
    • Don’t allow imposter syndrome to hold you back. Just pick your healthcare niche.
    • Why working on your mental health, physical health, relationships, your revenue generating activities, your team is the best use of your time as a business owner.
    • Allocating a portion of your revenue towards improvement of your fulfillment systems and how to determine how much to pay yourself.
    • Marketing isn't just about letting people know that you’re open, the services you offer, and how much you charge.
    • Gone are the old frameworks of doing business. Employ the time-oriented rules of 2022 business.

Hack: Proper organization and management anchored on time management through life design is key to building a PT business that will grow and thrive without destroying your health and relationships.

Why Work Ethic Is the Most Important Factor to Your Success with Katie Markel Oct 27, 2022
    Show notes

Food is essential to life. We should undoubtedly eat enough to stay healthy and active. However, the food we eat should also be healthy and full of all the nutrients our bodies require. But how can we completely heal our bodies by eating in a specific way with our cycles? Breaking away from the diet stigma needs a stable mental aspect in balancing your relationship with other people and your business.

Katie Markel is a Marine Veteran, B.S. Kinesiology, CPT, CES, Rock Steady Boxing Coach, NCI LV1, Holistic Health Practitioner. I've lived a few lives lol I have a fall prevention company and just launched She Eats in April which is helping to break the diet stigma telling women it's their fault they can't lose weight. That they need to work harder and eat less while complete disregarding their hormones.

This week’s Healthcare Hacks and Connections, Nathan Navas and Katie Markel will talk about work ethics and the drive to keep pushing and always make light of everything and not take everything so seriously, breaking away from the diet stigma, mental aspects of being a business owner, and balancing relationships and business that helps keep the working environment a place where you can fill your soul.

They will touch on such topics as:

    • If your body is telling you to eat, you should eat. You don’t have to starve yourself just because your role models have a slim body figure.
    • Your body enables you to do what your soul feels.
    • Set boundaries and stick to them like you are showing up for a client.
    • Speak about what you know and what convinces you, then it will become easy and less daunting. It’s okay not to be perfect. Speak to the world what you want to know.
    • You don’t need to be shouting and convincing anybody else because when they believe the truth, you just need to say it. The people who will resonate with you will follow you.
    • You have to go low to project forward.
    • Don't be afraid of failure because failure keeps trying to happen as you grow.
    • One area in business is to value your staff, because if you take care of them, they will take care of you.
    • Create an environment where you and your staff are working in a place where they want to go and fill their souls.
    • See what brings you joy. If it doesn’t bring you joy, find someone who finds joy in that matter.

Hack: Adopt and triumph. It’s okay if it doesn't go the way you expected it to. Learn and evaluate from it. It doesn’t matter if you are behind the curve. Maybe you will jump on the next curve because you figure out a new way to do it.

Email Marketing Tips That Will Increase Your Subscribers & Sales with David Cartolano Oct 20, 2022
    Show notes

The ability of advertising to spur business growth makes it crucial. Advertising helps you reach the right audience with a positive, targeted message that turns prospective customers into paying customers, amplifying the effectiveness of your business marketing efforts. In advertising your services, what is the best email platform to use in email marketing? What is the best way to build an email list of business owners, like you, or those who are just starting their business?

David Cartolano runs an email agency called Wealthy Inbox. They compose email campaigns, design beautiful templates, and get more leads by improving your subscriber engagement.

This week’s Healthcare Hacks and Connections, Nathan Navas and David Cartolano will talk about email marketing tips such as not getting your mail to your subscriber’s spam folder or getting bounced, how to relay Facebook ads to email marketing, how you will follow up your subscribers in purchasing your service, and how much revenue can you acquate in marketing that is worth the pay to get the result that you deserve.

They will touch on such topics as:

    • Emails are more profitable than ads because you can systematize them more and you don’t have to rely on algorithms.
    • Facebook ads are like getting people into your restaurant, while email is like making people order.
    • Business owners should do what’s best for their business. What’s best for your business is when your subscribers know you exist. They will not know you exist if you email them twice a month.
    • If you already have an email list and are trying to figure out which email works the best and which email went to spam, resend the email to your subscribers but look at the date when you last sent it first.
    • It is good to have a system in place because machines don’t sleep.
    • You should allocate some revenue to email marketing depending on how seriously you are going to take it.
    • Trying to be a master of everything makes you a master of nothing.

Hack: If you want to build an email list, the first thing that you should do is figure out why you want to build it and what you want to get from it.

How Tai Chi And Other Alternative Therapies Can Extend Your Reach Beyond Physical Therapy With Dr. Soneka Lee Oct 13, 2022
    Show notes

Most of us have a voice inside our heads that can be caring, supportive, negative, or critical. Some may have a voice that draws you into a cycle of guilt and humiliation by never tiring of pointing out our mistakes and inadequacies. But how will you battle the inner voice in you that makes you think twice about your capabilities and worth? As a business owner, what do you feel has helped you the most to improve your weak spot?

Dr. Soneka Lee has been in the healthcare industry for 14 years as a doctor of physical therapy. She always knew that what we eat helps us to move and feel better. It wasn't until she got diagnosed with an Ankylosis Spondylitis disorder that she discovered eating health and movement became her life saver. She is an autoimmune health coach and a Tai Chi instructor. She found that helped her get back to being the best mom and Physical Therapist she can be.

This week’s Healthcare Hacks and Connections, Nathan Navas and Dr. Soneka Lee will talk about autoimmune health coaching, Tai chi therapy, and other methods of therapy that can be used to extend your reach beyond physical therapy; how to market different kinds of therapy than the usual that most people know; and how to overcome failure in the business industry in an avenue that not many people know.

They will touch on such topics as:

    • Autoimmune coaches help clients with their chronic pain and general autoimmune disease to navigate the healthcare system and collaborate with their doctors to be able to overcome obstacles.
    • One of the things that can trigger your autoimmune disease is your environment and the foods that you eat.
    • Your gut is your second brain.
    • You should live and learn. Figure out what you need the most rather than not even trying at all and quitting before you even started. Sometimes you feel like you're already defeated and have a mental battle with yourself.
    • How responding to people about their concerns, such as health, in a unique way, like creating a post on your social media, can make them feel special and appreciated.
    • When things get hard, try different options and see if they work. Listen to music or read a quote to motivate you again.

Hack: There are a lot of times in the business industry where you get caught up and chase money. When that time comes, always remind yourself why you are doing it to begin with and bring yourself back to that.

How To Escape A Busy Mindset & Become A Productive Entrepreneur with Chase Smith Oct 06, 2022
    Show notes

Having a healthcare entrepreneur's life is lonely, but building a community where you can always check in to see what your clients are up to is one of the greatest things you can do as a business owner. But how do you make your clients feel like they are part of a family within your business? And how can you create a safe space within a community where people can share their struggles from day-to-day life experiences?

Chase Smith is the CEO and Head Coach of Chasing Health LLC, an online health coaching business helping those who have a significant amount of weight to lose. From being close to 400 pounds to losing over 100 pounds and now helping others with their own weight loss journey! Chase also has a background as a registered nurse working in psych/mental health and emergency nursing.

This week’s Healthcare Hacks and Connections, Nathan Navas and Chase Smith will talk about how to get out of a busy mindset to a productive mindset, from side hustle to full-time business owner, and how to pave the way on a weight loss journey while making people feel that they are not alone, because there are a lot of people who went through the same journey as them.

They will touch on such topics as:

    • Allow your client to feel better about themselves throughout their journey with you, and make them realize that they are not doing it alone because they have a large team behind them.
    • How making your own schedule allows you to manage your effort and time for the things that you need to get done. But the downside of flexibility is that when you don’t know what to do with your time, it will quickly disappear before you realize it.
    • There’s a difference between being busy and being productive. There are times when you are busy and feel like you are doing so much all the time, but you never get anything done.
    • One of the biggest things in life is knowing that there are going to be many ups and downs, especially in the business industry. Just realize that it’s okay to have these struggles because they are part of our life. You just have to roll with the punches and recourse correctly.
    • Every failure you make is a lesson learned. You should pull out a lesson from every single one of them, either good or bad, which will be compounded to make you who you are today.
    • The bad day isn’t the one that will define you, but what defines you is how you react to that bad day itself.
    • Coaching doesn’t require anything that is life or death decision making. Just make a decision that you can think of and make your best decision that you think is best for you.
    • Upload all the content you’ve made to all of your social media platforms to spread your content as much as you can. All your actions should lead to areas where the audience can get value from you.

Hack: You can’t fail unless you give up. There will be times when you feel like a failure, which makes your subconscious mind criticize yourself. In that period of time, we just need to remind ourselves that we can do this and get through this.

The Power of Podcasts in Medical Education with Brodie Sharpe, PT Sep 29, 2022
    Show notes

Even after the pandemic, there are still people who can’t get into the clinic because of their busy schedules with their daily jobs. We all know that technology has the potential to improve the quality of healthcare and can make it easier for more people to access healthcare. As a business owner, what are the systems that should be utilized to build out an online practice even if you have a standing clinic?

Brodie Sharpe, the owner of the Run Smarter Physiotherapy Clinic in Melbourne, Australia, is a physiotherapist. Brodie teaches runners how to train smarter and dispels common running myths in order to reduce injury risk and recover quickly from injuries. He offers solid, proven techniques to assist with the injury and provide powerful prevention tools. The Runner’s Life isn’t easy. But with the right tools, education, and a good guide, it can be one of the most rewarding ways to stay in shape and move through life.

This week’s Healthcare Hacks and Connections, Nathan Navas and Brodie Sharpe, PT will talk about how to utilize telehealth and build its systems; how podcasts are utilized for medical education; how to grow a podcast from scratch; and when and how a podcaster needs a promoter to help gain more audience and have engagement to help people in the community.

They will touch on such topics as:

    • Posting research on social media with evidence-based practice will help the audience trust you more.
    • Use your podcast as a jumping point to open a new opportunity for you to discover another platform that can inspire other people.
    • Most business owners are stuck wanting to wear all the hats, which pushes them down and they are not able to scale.
    • If you want to grow your podcast, get into more podcasts. Have something interesting, engaging, and something that is worth more.
    • A podcast or an episode that you are guesting on is something that is going to live forever.
    • Do something that generates your energy rather than depletes it. If it is something that you don’t want to do, find some other things that will make it fun and love it.

Hack: Use yourself in your business as a promoter. You are the sponsor of your own business and the driver of the ship.
