It is officially summer! While summer can feel like a busy season for some people, it can also be a slower time when it comes to inquiries and gaining new business, to the point where you might start wondering, "Hey, how am I going to find that next client for my service business?"
This week and next week, I have a two-part series where I'm sharing 8 ways to make more money in your business as a service provider. So whether you're a designer, a copywriter, a podcast producer, an event planner, social media manager, photographer, coach, whatever you do, these tips will help you make more money in your service business.
And if you also sell products, listen to this as well because a lot of this stuff really overlaps well with that too.

272: Why Traditional Productivity Hacks Don’t Work For Moms (5 Things to Remember Instead!) Jun 18, 2024

If we’re all just being honest, productivity just doesn’t look the same in the before and after of motherhood. But often you’re not told that as a new mama, you’re just told “productivity hacks for moms” and that you’ll “feel like your old self” eventually and to “sleep when the baby sleeps” (but also try working during nap time).

But here’s the problem: sometimes this can sound like you need to keep doing the same things as you did before you were a mother. And in my experience, it just doesn’t work that way - which is something I REALLY wish I had understood before becoming a mom. It would have saved me from the PRESSURE I felt to “get things done” the way I did before.

So whether you’re a new mom, an expecting mom, or a mom of a few kiddos, today I want to casually chat about what productivity might mean in this season of your life as a mom to little kids who also has a business and wears a lot of hats!

In today’s episode we are going to talk through tangible strategies you can use and questions you can ask yourself to get yourself more peace and more profit in your business. Let's face it, so many of us burn out because our business gets really complicated. The truth is that in reality, we likely started our businesses seeking more freedom in our lives, but we often end up chasing the wrong things, which leads to us finding ourselves too busy and ultimately feeling unfulfilled.

I’m all about growing your business with a team and not doing it alone! But just because you hire people (contractors or w2 employees) does not mean that business is all of a sudden easy peasy. In some ways, it actually makes your business more complex.

There are a lot of challenges that come with having a team, especially with remote teams. I have team members who I’ve literally never met in person but I’m in communication with daily or weekly, so it CAN work!

268: Everything You Need to Start a Book Club (+ a BTS Look Into My 2 Year+ Book Club!) May 21, 2024

At the time of recording this, I’ve been a part of a monthly book club since December of 2021 and we’ve met a total of 31 times since we started! Last year, we even had a “book club retreat” where we got to hang out outside of our usual meetings and honestly, it was so much fun.

Being able to start a book club and just have FUN with it has been such a blessing, so if you’ve been looking to start something like this (or you’re part of a book club already and want some tips for keeping it fun and still going strong!), you’re going to love today’s episode. I’ve made some really strong friendships in it too.

I feel like everybody needs a book club like this (regardless of whether or not you are a “big reader” yet and I know my friends agree!

My goal for this episode is to show you how to start a book club and keep it going so that it quickly becomes a favorite part of the month for everyone!
