66 - Michelle Pfile: Binging, Grief, and Breaking Up with Overachieving Jun 08, 2021
    Show notes

What happens when we ignore our grief and choose to numb instead? What does it mean when we are binge-eating but we are living the picture-perfect life? Why do we continue to miss out on life for the sake of success?

There's a lot going on in this episode and I am thrilled to be having this real conversation with Michelle Pfile. We decided together for this interview to not have any direction and let it unfold naturally and we discovered that so much wanted to come out. Michelle is a successful business owner who branched out of her lane and dove into uncertainty. After years of making people beautiful on the outside, Michelle put down her hairdressing shears and decided that her true passion was helping women become beautiful on the inside. She is now a coach helping women with their health and their wealth and the host of the Michelle Pfile Podcast.

Today we discuss grief related to loss and how Michelle navigated, numbed, and avoided her process. She was experiencing binge-eating and ultimately was missing out on the sweetness of her life for the sake of success and people-pleasing. This episode is full of the realness behind being the woman who is trying to find her worth and enoughness everywhere outside of herself. I know I did that. For a long time. But after seeing her deep sadness in the mirror, Michelle started listening to herself instead of others.

This conversation felt like two old friends talking over coffee. So grab your cup and listen to Michelle's relatable, real, and powerful story.

65 - Why We Critique and Mock Confident Women Jun 03, 2021
    Show notes

We all do this. We encounter a woman who exudes confidence and instead of seeing them for who they are, we feel attacked. There's like a secret code we live by as women where we play small, hide, and consciously choose to bury our own confidence. When we do that, we are not living life fully self-expressed. But when women start breaking that code, there will be others who feel threatened.

In this episode of Be You, I share personal experiences of how I have felt attacked by the confidence of other women. I also share the reactions I've had at different points in my life and journey. I can't say I'm proud of my reactions, but the reason this is a topic for today's episode is because I recently made the discovery of how far I've come. I'm still working and growing, but instead of trying to point out flaws, I'm finally able to see the beauty in others because I'm finally able to see the beauty in myself. It's time you do the same.

64 - Old Maps, Leaky Anger, and Projection, OH MY! May 31, 2021
    Show notes

What does it mean to use old maps and to leak our energy? I will admit that I had no idea what any of that meant until recently but when I learned what it means, I know that I have been guilty of it for a long time. This episode is not one that I really want to do, but I know that it is what's right to talk about today. In typical Be You fashion, I'm uncomfortable, honest, and raw as I'm doing this difficult work alongside you.

In this episode, we discuss leaky energy and how when we use old maps or look through old lenses, we project our emotions on other people. Admittedly, this happened to me just the other day and I share that experience in this episode. Ultimately, it's about past traumas that we bring into the present. Sometimes we do it consciously when we hold grudges and other times we don't even know we're doing it. So, pay attention to those emotional red flags, ground yourself, and connect with God to find out why you are projecting onto other people.

This is another example of why somatic work is a journey. I'm not perfect and will never claim to be and I'm not proud of my recent behavior. But knowing what I do and having made the connection of why this happened, I'm able to move forward and continue this challenging somatic work to better myself and my relationships.

63 - Stop Letting Them Tell You How to THINK May 27, 2021
    Show notes

Society often tells us how we should think and feel. I've been guilty of judging others for things I have no business judging them for. And I've definitely been on the other side of things: being judged for what I believe and how I feel. In today's episode, we discuss the desire for everyone to think for themselves. There are two sides to every argument and we need to be able to judge for ourselves and make our own decisions.

This episode may be polarizing and triggering for some of you and that's okay. What this episode is though, is an invitation and a challenge to live a life where you are being yourself unapologetically and not fearing what other people are saying about you on and offline.

    62 - The Question I Wish I Had Asked Long Ago May 25, 2021
    Show notes

In this podcast journey, every now and then I have an experience and I just know I need to bring it to Be You. Today's episode comes from a conversation with a friend and the question that was asked of her that stopped her dead in her tracks. It did that to me, too, and it all comes full circle. I've talked about in past episodes about finding the evidence in experiences of signs and the hand of our creator. And this question is exactly what I wish I had asked myself a long time ago.

In this short episode, I share personal experiences and actionable steps including a breathing exercise and a journaling opportunity. This somastic release is scary, even for me, but we're doing this together. Go there with me and ask yourself, "Where was God in that story?"

    61 - Haunted to Healed — My Abortion Story May 20, 2021
    Show notes

I hope that we can get to the point where we can honor the journeys of other people while honoring our own truth and let both be true at the same time. That being said, in this extremely raw episode, I'm going someplace that I did not expect to go on the podcast yet. I felt the nudge and heard the whisper and as uncomfortable as I am, this episode is meant to happen now.

You're here because you read the title, or you are triggered by the title, or you are carrying grief, too. For whatever reason you are here today, thank you for listening. If you are someone who is against abortion, do not use my story as ammunition against others. If you are someone who is pro-choice, do not use my story as a statement that you are wrong. This is my story and my journey and I know that someone needs to hear it.

    60 - I Wish I Had Let Myself Be Happier May 18, 2021
    Show notes

The idea for this episode was inspired by a text conversation with a dear friend. Isn't it funny how things like that happen? I knew immediately that I needed to talk about it in today's episode and that is the idea of choosing happiness.

Many of us, myself included, have lived our lives not accessing the happiness that is right there. It is right there in front of us and we can actually choose it. But as with so many other things, we let our brains get in the way and we let our worries take over. So after my text conversation that just hit me in the gut, I jotted down three ways we can start the letting go process and start accessing the happiness that is right in front of us.

59 - When Friends Can't Give You What You Want May 13, 2021
    Show notes

The more I have grown and accepted myself, the more confident I have become. And with that confidence, I have needed less support from others. Yes, I still need my people to cheer me on, but before I started this work, I wanted everyone in my corner and on my side. Over the years I have chased friendships with people who were not truly my people and reflecting back in this episode, you'll find that you might be hanging on as well.

There are so many routes we can take on this topic, but in today's episode we're focusing on support. Who are your people? What kind of support do they provide? How do they show up in your relationship with them? And if they aren't giving you what you want out of the relationship, you have a choice to make. Yes, it is okay to keep them around, but clear communication is necessary to make sure each of you values the relationship for what it is. Listen on to hear several personal stories and stories of others when it comes to support from friends.

58 - The Losing Game of Compromising YOU to Make Them Happy May 11, 2021
    Show notes

You will not believe what happened to me. I was given an opportunity to make a really big choice for YOU, the Be You Collective and it was hard, but I set a firm boundary. You see, if I can't be the type of person who puts into practice the things I'm telling you to work on, then I don't deserve your company. So today, I took a risk and I feel great about it.

In today's episode, I share an experience I had where I was faced with making a decision. The Jill of the past would have folded under the fear of disappointing someone or being disliked. But in today's episode, you'll see how I stood up for myself and honored the integrity of the real work we are doing together in the Be You Collective. If I can do it, I know you can too.

Have you ever heard of Ho'oponopono? I've heard about it many times, but until recently, I just wasn't ready to actually learn more about it. But through the guidance of a coach, I looked more into it and put it into practice. Immediately, I was blown away.

In today's episode, I share the story behind the Ho'oponopono practice. What is it? Why is it important? Why should you consider it? How can you heal yourself and affect other people? Ultimately, everything you do and every experience you have is in your mind. You are responsible for your own thoughts and in this episode, you'll learn the four steps to not only heal your own thoughts, but help heal others.
