Bad Movies Rule!

Latest Episodes:

#172 - The Last Boy Scout (1991) Aug 16, 2024

Show notes

This movie has more one-liners than a Rodney Dangerfield set, while still having insane action and peak-form Bruce Willis, so why did it fail? It didn't connect with critics and was an absolute disaster behind the scenes. It's one of those movies people remember but rarely talk about - so it's time to go back and see if Last Boy Scout deserves to be called a bad movie.

#171 - G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (2009) Aug 09, 2024

Show notes

Yo Joe! It's time to revisit the divisive live-action debut of the long-running GI Joe cartoon series. Plenty of long-time fans felt that the movie absolutely failed to accurately bring them to the big screen, while others thought it was a fun popcorn flick to be enjoyed with their brains turned off. So let's look back on it and determine whether or not this is lovable trash or just plain trash.

#170 - Vigilante Force (1976) Aug 02, 2024

Show notes

Even if you've never seen it, we are going to walk you through this Kris Kristofferson action movie, starring Jan Michael Vincent as his brother who was just looking for someone to clean up their small town. Who was terrorizing their town? Just the regular miners and dock workers! They put the wrong person in charge, and things get out of hand in this mid-70s action flick that is free of logic and shirts, mostly.

#169 - Tango & Cash (1989) Jul 26, 2024

Show notes

Considered by some as one of the quintessential buddy cop movies of the 80s, but destroyed by critics as an absolute mess. It's time to stroll down memory lane with Tango & Cash to see if the Sylvester Stallone and Kurt Russell-led comedy belongs in the Stone Age, or is an absolute banger.

#168 - Need For Speed (2014) Jul 19, 2024

Show notes

It's a movie with a pilot named Maverick, a need for speed, starring a 5'8" actor - but it's not the one you wanted to see, instead, it's NEED FOR SPEED! Aaron Paul jumps into his first big Hollywood leading movie, while Michael Keaton never leaves the room he's in, and Dakota Johnson mails in a few scenes for good measure. That sounds like a recipe for a masterpiece if I ever heard one. Are real car crashes and beautiful race footage enough to save this movie?

#167 - The Boondock Saints (1999) Jul 12, 2024

Show notes

Is it always safe to go back to the movies you once loved? Boondock Saints upon its DVD release had a period of time when it was beloved by men, both young and semi-young. Many dorm rooms adorned with posters and DVD's passed along. Having had our previous love affair with Boondock Saints, we haven't seen the movie in over 15 years and I'm concerned whether or not I will still love what I find. Sure, Willem Dafoe's performance will age like fine wine, but listen to find out if the rest of it holds up.

#166 - Passenger 57 (1992) Jul 05, 2024

Show notes

Terrible gambling advice aside, is there anything else redeeming about Passenger 57? Critics and audiences have given it a low score, but still, the movie has its die-hard (pun intended) fans. Wesley Snipes gets his first crack at starring in an action movie and shows that he has martial arts chops, but is there any other meat on the bone? Join us as we go scene by scene through this early 90s actioner!

#165 - Revenge of the Ninja (1983) Jun 28, 2024

Show notes

Sho Kosugi made a name for himself starring in ninja movies in the 1980s and after watching this it made us want to dive even deeper into his filmography. This is the third time one of his movies has been covered on our show, but the first in which he is the protagonist. This movie has more ninja gadgets than someone could carry, even though these guys seem to have 100 pockets each. It's 80s cheese mixed with legitimately awesome stunt work and insane plotting. Hope you enjoy it!
