Milla Jovovich hey finally start to work in some video game characters, we see you game-accurate Jill Valentine, but does any of it make for a better Resident Evil movie?

#178 - Police Academy 2: Their First Assignment (1985) Sep 27, 2024

Show notes

It's the second Police Academy movie, but it's their first assignment, but they already have assignments - my head already hurts. Steve Guttenberg and the gang are back in the first sequel of six, because why let something die when you can milk it for every dollar! A beloved classic of the 80s and many late night watching on Comedy Central - but does it hold up?

MAILBAG: Jason Vorhees in Fast & Furious Sep 25, 2024

Show notes

Against our better judgement, we gave Bob control over the voicemail machine and he went to town. We touch on dead franchises, Jason joining Fast & Furious, and deal with the masses demanding a Twilight episode this Halloween. There's all that and so much more as people take shots at Bob and Curt almost chokes on his drink when we give Mel a new nickname.

#177 - Slapstick of Another Kind (1982) Sep 20, 2024

Show notes

There are bad movies, and there are movies so terrible that they transcend the entire genre and end up as mysterious relics to be studied by future generations. Not to take the name of another brilliant podcast, but HOW DID THIS GET MADE? Jerry Lewis and Madeline Kahn star as throbbing-foreheaded space twins in this movie that defies description. Just watch it. I DARE YOU. Or you can just listen to us walk you through it and spare yourself the pain.

#176 - Invasion U.S.A. (1985) Sep 13, 2024

Show notes

The Russians have invaded, well at least one Russian and a bunch of non-descript terrorists and they are causing trouble nationwide! Will the police stop them? No, unfortunately there isn't a single cop available in the entire country, so we have to call in America's last hope, Matt Hunter aka Chuck Norris. Those he doesn't take down, he'll glare at them until they give up willingly. Is this a classic of the 1980s, or has nostalgia clouded our judgement?

MAILBAG - Ryan Finally Gets Hate Mail Sep 11, 2024

Show notes

It's been a long time since we've had a mailbag, but now that we are all settled into the new studio it's time to get back to answering your emails and voicemails, like what would make Mt. Rushmore if you combined Arnie and Sly's filmography? How did a listeners wife respond when being forced to watch The Mummerman, and which hosts' kid are we waiting until they are old enough to replace their parent on the show? It's all here for you on today's mailbag!

#175 - The Flintstones (1994) Sep 06, 2024

Show notes

Without John Goodman, they never could have made a Flintstones movie, so does that mean we blame him for this or praise him for this? There's plenty of people on both sides of the fence on whether or not this a Yabba-Dabba-Doo time or just a Doo-Doo time. Even our own hosts can't agree if this is an all time classic or an epic misfire. Time to head to Bedrock and find out.

#174 - The Wizard (1989) Aug 30, 2024

Show notes

Time to ride some warp whistles right back to the late 80s to California for Video Game Armageddon! Some called it a 2 hour commercial for Nintendo, and while that's hard to argue, does this movie have some heart at it's core that makes it even more than that? We follow Fred Savage as he tries to get his brother to the ultimate video game tournament and all kinds of ridiculousness ensues. Teenage runaways, professional kid-snatchers, angry truckers and a coked out video game MC make this a wild ride.

#173 - Batman Forever (1995) Aug 23, 2024

Show notes

When Tim Burton hung up the directors hat and handed it over to Joel Schumacher, no one really knew what to expect. What we got was a Batman movie that was very different, but was it bad? There are people who will defend Batman Forever until the ends of the Earth and there are some who still aren't over the toy-selling tone of this movie. It's time to revisit it, so grab some drive-thru because the fat lady is on in five!
