Nathan and Brendan dive back into the endless Gamera series for the 2006 (and final to this date) entry - Gamera the Brave. Nathan isn't quite as enthusiastic as he usually is for these movies and complains about the terribly rendered effects (yes, in a Gamera movie!) and the guys also discuss the very uncomfortable beach scene, all of the sadness and death, hospitals operating business as usual during giant monster fights and much more.

The Phantom of the Opera (w/Sharon Horwatt) Nov 03, 2022

Show notes

It's time to ease back into the regular schedule as the guys (and returning guest Sharon Horwatt) take a look at a lavish musical with horror elements in the form of The Phantom of the Opera starring Gerard Butler. They talk about the major differences in subtlety between the film and the stage musical, Joel Schumacher's maniacal direction of the performers, the magical horse that only appears once, more problematic age differences between co-stars and much, much more.

Please note: due to a power outage in Fredericton and a number of other subsequent technical issues, the sound quality is kind of all over the place.

Joining them is THE Christopher Lee... FROM the movie! Christopher regales them with stories about missed opportunities with the filmmaking, lines that were inexplicably switched to different characters at the last minute and a "joke take" that was used as the actual scene in the film while they also discuss CGI blood that disappears on a whim, the hilarious helicopter fall, the ridiculous amount of tourniquets and much more.
