In 2017, David Josiah Lawson was a student at Humbolt State University with big plans for his future. He was the first in his family to go to college, and was majoring in Criminal Justice with plans to become a lawyer and later enter politics. But before the end of his sophomore year at Humbolt, Josiah Lawson was murdered. He'd been at a party with his girlfriend and some friends, when a fight broke out. At the end of it, Josiah had been fatally stabbed. Everyone knew who he'd been fighting, and it seemed it was very clear who had done this. But the justice system disagreed.

It was November 2, 2016 when 34 year old married mother of two, Sherri Papini, disappeared. Her husband Keith arrived home to find her missing, and the only trace of her was her cell phone lying in the ground about a mile away from their house with her headphones and several of her blond hairs lying on top. It appeared from the start that foul play must be involved with Sherri's disappearance, but it would soon come to light that nothing was as it seemed in this case.

On the night of Halloween, 2001, Kent Heitholt, was murdered. A witness was able to create a composite sketch with police and in late 2003, the Columbia Tribune ran an article on the murder and included the composite sketch. A young man named Charles Erickson saw that sketch and thought he recognized the person. He thought it looked a lot like himself. The problem was, Charles could not remember the night of Halloween 2001. He'd blacked out, and all he knew was that he'd been at a bar near the crime scene. Charles became obsessed with this case, convinced that he was involved in the murder. And if he was involved, then so was the guy that had given him a ride home that night: his friend, Ryan Ferguson.

Marc Schiller thought he had normal people problems. The pump on his swimming pool was broken. His Schlotzky’s franchise was failing and he was trying to sell it. He was worried he wouldn’t get through his work as a CPA in time to take his wife and kids to Columbia to celebrate Hanukkah. A tropical storm had been threatening to come into Miami, where he lived.

What Marc did not know, was that he had been the victim of at least 8 kidnapping attempts.

Kristin tells Mogab the story of Richard Glossip, who is on death row in Oklahoma for hiring Justin Sneed to kill his boss, Barry Van Treese. His conviction Is based almost solely on Sneed's word, with no good evidence connecting him to this crime. How did the word of an accomplice carry enough weight to secure a death penalty conviction?

It was April 26, 2006. 16 year old Ashley Reeves had plans to go to a job interview that afternoon and then to play basketball at a park afterwards. Before she left, she promised her mom she'd be home before her 10 PM curfew, but her curfew came and went, and Ashley never returned home. Panicked, her mother started searching for her. She called the police, she called Ashley's friends, she drove around the town. But Ashley was nowhere to be found. Police started hearing from friends that Ashley was in a secret, romantic relationship with an older man, and that's when their investigation lead them to a high school teacher named Sam Shelton.

It was June of 2014, and Derek and Maria Broaddus were living the American dream: they had just closed on their dream home at 657 Boulevard in Westfield, New Jersey for $1.4 million. They loved everything about this house, and couldn’t wait to move in with their 3 young kids. But their dream became their nightmare when anonymous, threatening letters started showing up at the house, signed by someone calling themselves "The Watcher." The Watcher said it was their job - nay, their OBSESSION - to watch 657 Boulevard, just as their father did before them, and their grandfather before that. The Watcher referred to their kids as "young blood" and asked if they'd discovered what was hidden in the walls. And there was nothing the Broadduses could do to stop the letters from coming.

In June of 2011, 27 year old Lauren Giddings was senselessly murdered. She had just graduated form law school, and was a month away from taking the BAR and becoming a full fledged attorney. When her friends and family discovered she'd been murdered, everyone was shocked. They couldn't figure out who would do something like this. Police had several suspects in mind, but they narrowed it down quickly when her neighbor, Stephen McDaniel, gave an odd interview to a local reporter.

This week, Kristin tells Mogab about the disappearance of Jason Landry - a fellow Texas State University student who was driving home to the Houston area for Christmas break of 2020 and disappeared in the small town of Luling, Texas. His car was found crashed and abandoned on a gravel road miles from the interstate. The clothes he was wearing were found strewn about the road. And Jason was nowhere to be found.
