How I increased my Linkedin engagement 42% by reducing my posts by 90% Apr 28, 2023
    Show notes

    Get Noticed! Send a text.

Simon Chappuzeau and entrepreneur Jim James have successfully increased engagement by 42% on Jim's LinkedIn while reducing their time to a couple of hours per week. They have created a presentation to share and discuss what they have learned over the last 11 weeks. In their presentation, Jim James and Simon Chappuzeau discuss the correlation between individual content pieces and the growth of engagement on LinkedIn.
The UnNoticed Entrepreneur Jim is proud of the 41.5% improvement in engagement.
Posts in the last 90 days received over 80,000 impressions.
The key takeaway is that LinkedIn is a learning community, not a dumping place of content, and promotion will not get you any reach.
Jim James and Simon Chappuzeau emphasized the importance of having a personal profile that showcases what you do, not just who you are, and how to add value to others. They also discussed the importance of having a good story and a profile that represents yourself.
The golden rule is consistency in style, messaging, and posting frequency.
It is essential to build expectations with your audience and stick to unmet promises. Posts should inform, educate, or inspire to spark curiosity and legitimate interest. Jim James' top-performing posts include a video, East West PR, and a slideshow about Simon Sinek, which all fall into the categories of inspire, educate, and inform.

In this podcast episode, Jim James interviews Ed West, the head of Fox-West, a communications consulting firm, who helps large corporations communicate and persuade. Ed shares tips on how to prepare for investor presentations, reduce the use of jargon, and simplify the message. He suggests using the simple message house tool and the "James Bond Start" to grab the audience's attention. Ed also advises to use analogies and stories to bring statistics to life and avoid overly intricate slides. To make the message accessible, he recommends using the Flesch-Kincaid test to assess sentence and word length and to present informally, like having a conversation with a friend in a pub. Finally, Ed emphasises the need to be yourself and show your personality without making it all about yourself.

In this episode of The UnNoticed Entrepreneur, Jim James interviews Karen Tan, the founder and CEO of The Projector, an independent cinema and arts and cultural space in Singapore. Karen shares how The Projector was created to provide a mental breathing space where people can engage with interesting content and break out of their silos. The space shows alternative film content, hosts non-film content, and invites different interest groups to feel comfortable sharing the same space. Karen also shares how The Projector started, which was a crucial piece of the puzzle in getting noticed and on the radar.
Karen provides some tips on how to create a community-led business to get an entrepreneur and a business noticed. She emphasises the importance of getting the neighbourhood behind the business before opening the doors and screening films. In The Projector’s case, they used crowdfunding as a marketing tool to bring like-minded people together, raise money, and build project ownership. She encourages entrepreneurs to fill a void in the landscape and make their business community-led to attract a loyal following. By doing so, people feel invested in the success of the business, and it becomes a community effort.
