[Tweet "Courage starts with showing up + letting ourselves be seen." - @brenebrown"]Sending that email. Asking for the promotion. Pitching. Stepping up and taking on more responsibility can all feel super scary, right? I mean who wants to shoot their shot + risk being rejected afterward? I sure as hell don't. Episode No. 30 Making Joy A Priority Sep 30, 2018
    Show notes

[Tweet "In between goals is a thing called life, that has to be lived + enjoyed."]It's Sunday, so you know what that means, right? It's time for us #GoalGetters to grab our planners and plot out how we're going to conquer this week-- Beyonce style. Time to schedule those meetings, study sessions, and upcoming events that can help us get closer to our goals. Can I take a peek at your planner right quick? Hmmm... just what I thought.🧐 It seems to me that you have everything all sorted out but I can't seem to see where you scheduled some intentional joy time in there. Hey listen, don't worry. I used to do it all the time too. I'd make sure I got all the things done, but fun? Adventure? Exploration? Hell to the naw naw! It was all hustle for me. That is until I found myself in yet another creative/emotional rut. I was starting to face burnout again for the 50 millionth time. 😒 So what did I do? I made joy a priority!Every week I'd take my planner and pencil in something fun (preferably free), or adventurous that would help break up the monotony of the dream chase. And let me tell you it dug me out of my funk and helped me to reconnect with me again. If you're anything like me-- all work and no play-- then this week's episode is for you! Episode No. 29 Asking For Help With Alisha Nicole Sep 23, 2018
    Show notes

"I believe God pushed me to do this crowd funding campaign because i'm so used to being in control. This forced me to ask for help." -Alisha NicoleYou can bootstrap, hustle and make ish happen on your own for a while but eventually there comes a point in every dream chase where you have to reach out and ask for help. I know-- that word help made your skin crawl right? Trust me I get it! You've made it this far on your own, didn't you? You figured it out, worked hard and stuck by that dream of yours until you made it a reality right? Why would you need to start asking for help now? Isn't that a sign of weakness? Hecky naw! Sometimes asking for help is the bravest thing you can do. You see, we're not created to do this life alone, and that my dear, includes your dreams and goals. We all need help at some point it can just feel icky asking for it. Why? Well because we tend to glorify "self- made men and women". Well let me let you in on a little secret-- even your fave needed a little help along the way. And yes that includes, Beyonce, Oprah, Obama and if you're ready to go to a new level in your dream chase it's going to have to include YOU too!In today's episode, we're chatting it up with Alisha Nicole; author, business coach and founder of the media brand Living Over Existing. Alisha recently gathered up the courage to launch a crowdfunding campaign which if you ask any business owner is a HUGE ask! We're going to talk about how stepping up and asking her community for help is making her wildest dreams come true! Topics Discussed In Today's Episode: The freedom of relinquishing control and trusting in God. The faith that it took for Alisha to step up and ask for help from her community. How she shows up and puts herself out there even when she feels like crawling into a shell. Her commitment to her goals when the results look a little different than what she imagined and so much more! Check Out Episode No. 29: “Asking For Help With Alisha Nicole." Episode No. 28 How To Stop Chasing Perfection In Your Life + Work Sep 16, 2018
    Show notes

"Perfect ain't coming. It's a myth. So we have to learn how to step up, show up + shoot our shots in the midst of imperfection"[Tweet "Perfect ain't coming. It's a myth. So we have to learn how to step up, show up + shoot our shots in the midst of imperfection"]Hey, you. Yes, you waiting over there for the perfect moment. I have a bit of a newsflash for you. Your need for perfection is paralyzing you.I know, it's hard to hear. I get it. Trust me I do. You want your work to be it's absolute best. And ain't nothing wrong with that. But perhaps one of the reasons that you're stuck in your life and career is because you're using perfection as an excuse to not take action.I'm not judging. I do it all the time too. I won't shoot my shot + pitch to any big brands because I don't have the perfect amount of followers just yet. I won't produce that workshop I've been dreaming of for the past 3 years because I think maybe I need just one more conference, webinar, e-course or mastermind group under my belt to validate me. And then, and only then, can I start working on that goal I've been dreaming of. Sound familiar? We all do it. We wait until we're the perfect size, have the perfect credentials on our resumes, have the highest of degrees until we take the leap, ask big and show up boldly in our lives. But lately, I've been wondering what would happen if we stopped chasing perfect and instead choose to show up, do our best and still ask big when things aren't peachy keen. My guess? Overflow would happen. Promotions would happen. Art galleries would open. Graduations would be celebrated. In today's episode, we're exploring why it's important to ditch the need perfection + how to be our best selves even when life is messy, complicated and a little scary.Check Out Episode No. 28: “How To Stop Chasing Perfect In Your Life + Work.Resources Mentioned In Today’s Episode:Big Idea Food: A Weekly Devotional For Entrepreneurs, Side Hustlers + Dreamers By Marlena BanksMy Career Pivot From Acting To Creative EntrepreneurMartha Graham's Quote about not judging your work. Episode No. 26 Getting Comfortable Saying No. Sep 02, 2018
    Show notes

[Tweet "You can say "No" and still be a good person. "]One of the main reasons that a lot of us #Goalgetters are exhausted, overwhelmed and completely burned out is because we have a hard time saying no. We want to be the best boss, momma, wife, student on this entire planet so we say yes to almost every request that comes our way. We don't like to disappoint or hurt anybody's feelings. So when folks ask questions like--can I borrow $200? It's a Yes. Can you plan my wedding for me? Yep! No problem! Can you help me move across the country? Omg! I'm so happy you asked--yes, yes yes! Now ain’t nothing wrong with helping out and supporting our loved ones. Nothing wrong at all. The issue is OVERCOMMITTING! We say yes to everybody and their momma that by the time it comes to our goals, our dreams and true desires we're too tired to give the things that we love and value our full attention. So in today's episode, we’re going to talk about getting comfortable saying the word no. I know it’s hard because we all want to show up and be the best friend, lover, momma, etc. But saying yes to everything out of sheer obligation is in no way sustainable and doesn’t allow us people pleasers (yep I'm one too) the space we need to rest, work on our own goals and enjoy the life we worked so hard to create. Topics Discussed In Today’s Episode: Determining your boundaries- how are you willing to show up for your friends and family? How to release any guilt if + when you have to use the word No. Tips that will help you determine whether or not you want to say yes or no.Check Out Episode No. 26: Getting Comfortable Saying No.Resources Mentioned In Today’s Episode:This post contains affiliate links. Episode No. 25 Getting Things Done Using The 1-3-5 Rule Aug 26, 2018
    Show notes

I love me a good to-do list. It seriously helps me stay focused and organized as I get my dream work on and popping. But lately, me and my to-do list haven't been getting along. It's become a major gift and curse. Why? Well because it’s NEVER ENDING. The very second I cross a task off of my list another 60 pop up leaving me feeling overwhelmed and super defeated. That is until I discovered the 1-3-5 Rule. The idea is pretty simple, instead of trying to get 100 things done in a day, (which is dang near impossible) rule creator, Alex Cavoulacos, says we should focus on 1 big task (usually the big one we always try to avoid), 3 medium tasks and 5 small tasks. Y'all I implemented this rule this week and it changed the game for me big time! If you’ve been feeling like a prisoner to your to-do list then this episode is for you. I’ll be breaking down how to make the 1-3-5 Rule work wonders in your dream chase!Check out Episode No. 25Resources mentioned in today’s episode:Shine TextAlex Cavoulacos of The Muse.comMarlena Banks Big Idea FoodDid you like today’s episode? Episode No. 24 How To Deal With Anxiety, Overwhelm + Your Inner Critc Aug 19, 2018
    Show notes

Last month I took a break from my blog and biz because I was completely burned out. I took some time off to breathe, reconnect with my why and get my ish together. Taking that time off was the best decision I could've ever made but now that I am back in the game I’ve been struggling with some major anxiety. I don’t know what it is but I just haven’t been feeling like my bold, brave self. Lately when I sit down to start a project or do some dream work a sense of overwhelm and anxiety washes over me. Out of the clear blue sky, I’ve been afraid to hit publish, scared to show up on social media, second-guessing whether or not I should reach out to folks for partnerships and collabs. Which is so not like me. I'm usually front and center getting my dreams on and popping but lately, I've been playing small. I can't quite put my fingers on it but I think the reason that I'm having an anxiety flare up is that I'm at a point in my life and career where I am leveling up. I’ve been praying some mighty big prayers and taking some bold actions to match and my inner critic ain't having it. She's been trying to punk me these past few weeks in order to keep me safe and sound in my comfort zone. I was letting her win for a second. That’s is until I was at home in my studio in the middle of a major meltdown and I asked myself a question that legit obliterated all of my anxiety and overwhelm. So if you’re like me and you’ve been letting fear, anxiety and your inner critic get the best of you-- check out today's episode. I’m going to share how I've been stopping anxiety dead in her little tracks and how I get back to doing the work God has purposed me to do. Topics Discussed In Today’s Episode: How to lovingly validate your inner critic's concerns and still leap out of your comfort zone. The two different types of fear: Yirah and Pachad. One you want to embrace while the other keeps you stuck. Learn the difference between the two. The one question I ask myself that crushes my anxiety and overwhelm every single time.
