Episode No. 87 The Power Of Tapping Into Your Future Self Apr 26, 2020
    Show notes

I know you’ve probably said an iteration of this at least a million times over the past few weeks:

“As soon as the city opens back up I’m going to— brunch with my besties, really go hard in my business, buy my dream home, take dating seriously, travel the seven seas, and make more money so that I’m never this broke af again.”

Corona has sucked big time, but the one gift she’s given us all is a moment to be still and examine what is and isn’t working in our lives. We've had to stop and ask ourselves that one big question-- "What do I truly want?" And because we’re all #SafeAtHome we’ve unknowingly been using one of the most supercharged tools in the manifesting game and that's tapping into our future selves.

You see, the more time that we spend visualizing our future selves, we increase our chances of actually making major ‘ish happen in every area of our lives. We begin to strategize, take action + manifest the people, places + things we truly want in our lives. The gag though is that you don’t have to wait for some far-out date to start doing the work. You can start making your wildest dreams come true by simply showing up as your future self, today. Learn more about the power of tapping into your future self in today’s episode.

Episode No. 86 Covid 19 + Your Finances-- Savings, Debt Repayment, Unemployment + Everything In Between With Ericka Young Apr 19, 2020
    Show notes

I just got laid off how the hell am I supposed to pay my rent?

I didn’t file my taxes last year will I still get a stimulus check?

I have a little bit saved right now and I can still pay my employees while we’re closed but I don’t know how long I can float us.

I’m so grateful to still have my job and getting money in. But with COVID 19 going on should I be saving my money or continue to repay my debt? I was doing such a good job rebuilding my credit!

These past few weeks have been ROUGH! Corona came in like a wrecking ball and has rocked our lives to the very core. Folks are navigating some unimaginable circumstances right now especially in the personal finances department. And that's why I jumped at the chance to have Ericka Young back on the show.

She sent me an email asking how she could support the SJS audience during these difficult times so it was a no brainer to invite Ericka back in the guest chair. This time I had you all ask the questions that mattered most to you! (Thanks to everyone that submitted a question via Instagram). Questions about applying for unemployment, how to budget when your income is fluctuating, and whether or not you should be saving money or paying off debt. If COVID 19 has made a major impact on your money + you’re ready to learn how to get back in control of your finances then today's episode is for you!

Episode No. 85 Releasing Yourself From The Pressure Of Doing Mar 29, 2020
    Show notes

For the past few weeks, I've been trying to do all the things. You should see my to-do list, it's hella long with home projects, blog updates, and business ideas. Your girl thought she was going to use this quarantine time to play catch up + get her hustle on. Did that happen? Absolutely NOT!

I had not a clue just how hard + how deeply the C-word would affect my mental health. Like most of us, I've been grappling with so many unexpected emotions that I had to sit my ass down somewhere. I tried my hardest to still myself and let me just be, but there was a huge part of me that felt incredibly guilty for not doing more. There was this daily pressure that I kept putting on myself to do. To produce. Create. Strategize. Show up on Instagram. But I just couldn't do any of it. All I wanted to do was binge-watch Tiger King, sleep, eat, cry, pray, journal + FaceTime my homies. You know, all those very human things we tend to do when we're overwhelmed, mourning + and searching for comfort and answers.

The crazy thing is that I wasn't the only person that felt this pressure. Whenever I hopped on social media everyone on my timeline said that they felt guilty for not being in super productive, goal-getter mode. But I thought to myself “who the hell said we had to be "on" during this pandemic anyway? We're in uncharted territory here so why can't we rest? Why can't we chill? Why are we feeling bad for feeling scared? Why can't we just go to Instagram live parties + not feel guilty about it?"

I have a pretty good idea why. It's because we've bought into this idea that we're machines. That we can push through, roll up our sleeves + do the work no matter what, even a global pandemic. Well, the earth ain't having it. Homegirl is forcing us to sit down, be still, stay home, catch up on sleep, and reflect. What she's not asking as to do? To be "on" and crossing 9 million things off of our to-do list, if we don't have the actual capacity to do so.

If you've been feeling super guilty for not coming up with a multimillion-dollar idea, or creating 19 blog posts, or not getting back into the shape of your life during COVID19 then today I'm sharing some ways that you can release the pressure of doing, so you can get back to taking care + honoring the whole of you. Yes, even the part of you that's been wearing the same PJs for the past 3 days.

It's a lot going on right now. Like, a lot a lot. Turn on the news or hop on social media and everyone is in a panic. Rightfully so. Between politics and viruses, the 'ish is sorta kinda hitting the fan. You know what else is hitting the fan? My anxiety. Episode No. 83 What Is Manifesting + How Do You Do It? Mar 08, 2020
    Show notes

One day, a couple of years ago, I was listening to an episode of The Being Boss Podcast. The hosts were talking about how they manifested a steady stream of dream clients, that paid dreamy money and kept their dream businesses thriving. I was intrigued. What the hell were they talking about? I mean I'd heard the word manifesting thrown around here and there. But never quite like this.

They talked about alignment and speaking things into existence. There was mention of energy and attracting the right people, places, and things. I sorta kinda got it, but it was all just a little too deep for me. Not in a bad way. I just couldn't quite wrap my head around manifesting and how to get it to work in my life.

That is until manifestation started creeping up in every conversation I had, tweet I read or podcast I listened to. If God was dropping hints, I finally started picking up on it. “Maybe it isn't a coincidence that I keep hearing this message”; I thought. So I started doing some detective work. I devoured all things manifesting. Books, podcasts, videos- EVERYTHING.

And at first, I'm not going to lie I was a little skeptical until it started working in my life. I'd think a thought, believe it with all of my heart, let it go and then poof--it'd appear. I was kinda surprised at how simple it was. When people talked about manifestation they made it so complicated. But at its core, I discovered that it’s about believing that you deserve the very goodness you desire. In today's episode, I'm breaking down what manifesting is, how it works + how you can start making some of your wildest dreams come true!

Then as you were heading out to lunch the new girl asked if she could pick your brain for a second, which actually took an hour so you missed your lunch break and had to eat at your desk. The rest of the afternoon crept along as you finished reports and went to meetings that could’ve been emails. It’s finally time to go but you have to sit in traffic for an hour, pick up the kids, take them to football practice and then come home to make dinner, do homework and everything in between. Quick Tip #5 Ditch The Subscriptions + Take Back Control Of Your Money Feb 19, 2020
    Show notes

How much money do you think you spend on subscriptions each month? I’m talking about Netflix, Hulu, Planet Fitness and them. What do you think? About $30 a month maybe $40? Well according to The Simple Dollar we spend approximately $270 a month on subscriptions. Crazy right? The bogus part is that a lot of us don’t really notice it because it’s $10 here, $5 there. No big deal right? Well yeah, until it starts to add up. One of the easiest ways to get back in control of your money is to ditch the unnecessary subscriptions to apps, memberships + entertainment. Especially if you don’t even use them, for real for real. So in today’s episode, I’m sharing the one tool I’ve been using to help nip my subscription addiction in the bud and put my coints back in my pocket where they belong!
