Hard Boiled (1992) - Why This Hong Kong Film Is The Greatest Action Movie Ever Made Sep 01, 2023

Show notes

It's Kadish's birthday! And to celebrate, he chose to watch John Woo's classic action film from 1992 - Hard Boiled. Starring Chow Yun-Fat and Tony Leung Chiu-wai about two Hong Kong policemen who get embroiled in a dangerous arms smuggling Triad.

This is an action movie so amazing, it influenced Hollywood to step up its game and inspired action directors such as Zack Snyder and Michael Bay. Admittedly, the story leaves something to be desired, but the action scenes are next-level amazing!

Invasion Season 2 Episode 1 - Nothing's Changed Aug 31, 2023

Show notes

One of the worst TV shows ever made is back - Apple TV's INVASION returns with the first episode of season 2, titled "Something's Changed." But NOTHING has actually changed for the show itself, because it's still as nonsensical and boring as ever.

The Salty Nerds talk about the storylines of Aneesha Malik and Mitsuki Yamato, as well as introducing new characters like Global Girlboss, Indian Elon Musk, Ketchup Girl, and Joel from The Last Of Us. It's been four months since the events of season 1, but all the kids look like they've aged 5 years. Oh, and there is a sweet David Bowie montage.

The Meg 1 vs The Meg 2 - Which Is Dumber? (Jason Statham Edition) Aug 18, 2023

Show notes

The Meg was dumb. The Meg 2 blew it out of the water in terms of dumbness. And the Salty Nerds have a LOT to complain about! Jason Statham is back as everyone's favorite rescue diver, who now is more like James Bond than a former military man. When Statham isn't kicking butt and flipping jet skis in slow motion, he's a single dad trying to raise an intrepid teenage girl while ignoring things like the laws of science and any lick of common sense. This movie is supposedly an adaptation of a book, but apparently it just uses the book's title and a giant shark and makes the rest up, much to Jude's dismay. What is your The Meg 2 review? Did you love it? Hate it? Are you dumber for having watched it? Show notes

Lots of story threads are tied up and brought to a satisfying conclusion, while new possibilities are teased for a potential 4th season.

LOTS of crazy stuff happens this episode, and the kung fu fights are intense! We're sad to see this season go, but we're immensely happy with how it went!

Bewbs vs. Shark - The Shallows (2016) Aug 11, 2023

Show notes

Do you like hot chicks? Do you like sharks? Do you like hot chicks and sharks fighting to the death? Then we have a movie for you! A little sleeper of a film called The Shallows from 2016, starring Blake Lively and... no one else.

The Salty Nerds continue with their August Bites 2023 watches with this film about a former medical student who goes to a secluded beach to surf but gets stranded on a rock when she accidentally wades into a deadly shark's feeding ground. Hilarity ensues.

Warrior Season 3 Episode 9 - Bros Before Hoes Aug 10, 2023

Show notes

It's the PENULTIMATE episode of Warrior season 3, and whoa boy, is this one heck of an episode! Lots of stuff set up earlier in the season is starting to pay off, and that means lots of people are dying! What do the Salty Nerds have to say about "All of Death Is a Going Home"?

Well, we got some blue balls from the opening scene where Lai finally confronts Strictland. Big Bill finally gets his dream job. Father Jun and Young Jun come to terms. Leary and Strictland have a really, REALLY bad break up. And MattVader is very upset with Ah Sahm because you never put hoes before bros (apparently).
