DeFi By Design EP24: Bringing DeFi To The Real World Feb 18, 2021

Show notes

There are fewer noble quests in the crypto world than being an activist who builds products to bridge the gap between irl & bripto.

Brippppptooooooo.

Really, a challenge of regulatory pushback combined with internal fears and much more.

As I was just speaking with a buddy from Europe, he reminded me of one of my favorite Little Debbie snacks and the only way to purchase them:

“Oatmeal creme pies aren’t priced in ETH. They are priced in USD. Never forget.”

And here we have the reality of 2021. Crypto is NOT accepted anywhere tbqh.

Slowly but surely.

Monolith is here to pioneer and expedite that process with their suite of products.

Led by co-founder Mel Geldermann, the Monolith team has expanded into 25+ people all focused on one mission:

Bringing defi and crypto adoption to the masses every single day.

ERRYDAY BIH.

In this podcast (and live video walkthru on YouTube), we discuss the building blocks of Monolith and how we can bring defi to the real world, enjoy!

DeFi By Design EP23: The History Of Money Feb 11, 2021

Show notes

Martin Ploom, founder of Smartcredit.io, is one of the smartest & strongly opinionated men I’ve ever really spoken to. He was adamant on detailing the history of credit, money, lending and borrowing, gold standard, fiat and how we got to the fractional reserve system we have today.

Absolutely booming with valuable info in the form of an open history lecture.

Really, an insightful podcast.

DeFi By Design EP22: Web 3 Data Economy Feb 05, 2021

Show notes

Ocean Protocol has been BUIDLing for years now albeit a very niche’d operation, they have a grand vision to fulfill:

Giving the power back to the people of the internet.

Building a web 3, community owned, data economy. Giving you control over your data and the rights to sell it to advertisers and other purchasers alike.

A bless.

Because as of now, all your data including this article, is being shipped out to anyone who has a bid.

Data is the new oil.

DeFi By Design EP21: Insuring DeFi 101 Jan 28, 2021

Show notes

Cover Protocol has had a helluva ride the last few months…with an epic launch and collaboration with Yearn to a major smart contract hack & drain.

I mean.

This has been insane.

The team stood strong and supported themselves to do what is best for the defi ecosystem as a whole.

They will rebuild better than ever. We recorded an entire podcast right before the hack (lol, the timing) and then another one after the ashes had settled.

Strap in y’all.

DeFi By Design EP20: 2021, The Year Of The Stablecoin? Jan 04, 2021

Show notes

While many will be overly excited about the bull run that we will see in 2021, so much of the activity and innovation will be happening in stablecoins.

Yes, just plain ol’ stablecoins…

…or, economically complex systems designed to reward liquidity providers using elastic supply mechanisms to keep incentives aligned so market participants naturally act to maintain stability of the token.

A massive money game at our hands.

And that’s exactly what Ramifi is bringing to the table with their upcoming token launch.

This ones a doozy, a must listen if you are at all interested in algo-stables.

DeFi By Design EP18: Unleashing Leveraged Yield Farming with Alpha Finance Dec 10, 2020

Show notes

Amidst a sea of new DeFi projects which have launched in the last 3 months, there have been a few notable standouts.

We definitely think Alpha Finance fits that category as its launched a game changing product:

Leveraged yield farming.

(Like we weren’t already taking enough risks…lol)

Seriously though, $ALPHA token has seen a 10x price appreciation since our explainer video 2 months ago.

TVL in the protocol has rose to $82m in that time as well.

All this being said, we sat down with Tascha, lead at Alpha Finance to discuss whats going on in DeFi, yield farming, long-term building & ship n drip szn.

Buckle up folks.

DeFi By Design EP17: Securing Billions With Nexus Mutual Cover Dec 03, 2020

Show notes

DeFi TVL just crossed $15B TVL and is now above $17B.

Seventeen billion dollars.

And if the trend is any indicator of what’s to come $100B TVL is simply just a matter of time.

However being in a nascent industry led by coding genius’ and TradFi traders, the risks are aplenty.

So, we sat down with Roxana Danila, CTO of Nexus Mutual, to discuss securing the DeFi space with Nexus Mutual Insurance Cover.

DeFi By Design EP16: Ushering In A New Era Of Decentralized Fund Managers Nov 28, 2020

Show notes

There is literally a whole new world being built on top of Ethereum right now, its nuts.

Absolutely nuts.

In today’s episode of the cast, Robbie had the chance to catch up with Henrik Andersson from dHedge, the decentralized fund management platform.

Decentralized asset management is really an insane concept.

Its non-custodial.

Its trustless.

Its permissionless.

Its accessible to ANYONE in the world.

Nuts.
