One of the reasons people go into real estate is to build wealth. However, a lot of investors still struggle to charge what they’re worth and actually make money on a deal. Most of the time, it is left as an afterthought and they end up taking less than what they worked for. In this minisode, we tackle why personal profit should be a priority. Andresa offers simple strategies to help us put a price on our time and skills depending on the situation. Together with Liz, they also ask women to consider the value of learning and when it is okay to profit less. But before going overboard and over budget with renovations, how can you make sure that you’re going to get the best ROI? In this episode, Liz and Andresa welcome Liz Young. Coming from the commercial real estate tech industry, she believes in using the power of data to help homeowners make smarter home investments. She shares her expert insights on the dos and don’ts of home improvement projects, why it’s critical to understand zoning, and how you can build productive relationships with contractors. They say the riches are in the niches, but we all know that getting into one doesn’t guarantee instant success. In this minisode, Liz and Andresa talk about how to make the big step into a smaller market. They advise against jumping into a niche without doing some research and having an understanding of the industry. They also emphasize the importance of joining communities and listening to people who have experience in that particular asset class. If you want to jump into a new niche without making newbie mistakes, then you don’t want to miss this episode! Why You Need to Be a Hands-on Landlord (Minisode) Jul 12, 2022

Being a landlord comes with a lot of responsibilities. Not only do we need to maintain a property but we also have to make sure that our tenants are happy and are living comfortably. In this minisode, we talk about the benefits of becoming a hands-on landlord. Liz shares her own experience and how she got a better grasp of the business from handling the day-to-day operations and dealing with tenant issues. We also hear Andresa’s perspective on not taking everything on our shoulders and gaining the right knowledge in order to hire the right property manager. Clothing is a language. It conveys our character and impacts other people’s perceptions of who we are and how we want to be treated. In this minisode, we discuss dressing for success and self-care. Liz puts the focus on being comfortable and feeling good internally with whatever we put on our bodies. If you’ve been stressed out in dealing with the responsibilities that come with short-term rentals, maybe it’s time to shift to corporate housing. In this episode, Liz and special guest host Stephanie welcome Angela Healy to talk about why it’s smart to invest in the corporate housing niche. She breaks down the business model she used to grow her portfolio and discusses everything we need to know to get into the space: from finding the right property and partnering with corporations to navigating regulations on corporate housing. Angela Healy is the co-owner of multiple AvenueWest Managed Corporate Housing Franchises and AvenueWest Global Franchise, LLC, an award-winning, woman-owned business that delivers real estate investors a turnkey solution for property management. During her tenure, AvenueWest has grown exponentially from a small real estate investment brokerage to a national, award-winning franchise organization, representing annual gross revenues above $20 million and over $150 million in residential real estate under management.
