Erika Brown joins us today for an inspiring conversation about overcoming limiting beliefs and achieving breakthroughs. When she stopped saying no to deals she didn’t understand, Erika was able to scale quickly and build a multi-million dollar real estate empire. She talks about how she’s managing her personal life in an unconventional way and opens up about how she healed from emotional burnout by reconnecting with her true self. Through her own experience of being a homeowner and investor, Erika has worked in every aspect of the business representing sellers, buyers, investors, and financing. Not only is Erika a successful realtor and real estate investor coach, she is also a mom of three handsome boys and a wife to her best friend. How to trust yourself to find the right deals and people Sep 30, 2022

As entrepreneurs and leaders, we make a lot of decisions. Doubt has no place in our day and second-guessing will only stop us from growing. Here to talk about building confidence in decision-making and taking the next steps is Deborah Smith, Co-Founder and Principal of The CenterCap Group, LLC. We hear about her unique approach to business: setting short-term goals and course-correcting along the way. Whether it’s hiring or finding deals, it all comes down to following our instincts to go for it and having enough trust in ourselves to know that we can pivot if something goes wrong. She also touches on the active adult community and why there’s a rising demand in the space. Deborah heads the firm’s Strategic Capital and M&A and Execution efforts. Prior to forming The CenterCap Group, LLC, Deborah was Co-Head of M&A and a Senior Managing Director with CB Richard Ellis Investors (CB Richard Ellis's $40 billion AUM investment management business). She joined CBREI in July 2007 to co-head the build-out of the firm's M&A efforts and led the firm’s negotiation and acquisition of a majority interest in Wood Partners (one of the largest multifamily developers in the United States) in 2008. From 1998-2007, she worked on mergers and acquisitions with Lehman Brothers, Wachovia Securities, and Morgan Stanley. She has been involved in more than $100 billion of mergers, acquisitions, and restructuring transactions. Deborah has a Bachelor of Economics, with honors, and a Bachelor of Law, with honors, from the University of Sydney. Should I get a mentor? (Minisode) Sep 27, 2022

Before investing time and money to find a mentor, take a step back and think: first of all, do you even need one? In this minisode, Liz and Andresa discuss their different experiences with mentorship, the mistakes they made, and the lessons they learned. There is no "right" or "wrong" when it comes to having a mentor. What matters is what you do with that relationship and how you leverage it to improve your business. Here’s a guide to help you figure out what works for you: Questions to ask yourself Where do I want to be in 5 years and how fast do I want to achieve those goals? What type of support do I need? Is it one on one or group? Why this mentor is a good fit? Did he/she is where I want to be? Do they walk the walk? How much do I need to invest? (Don't look at it as a cost) Is this person resourceful? Who can I talk to that will share about their experience with this person? Will they hold me accountable? What are your expectations in terms of communication, progress? What do they offer to meet your goals? Quotes • “A mentor will not take you from A to Z. How This Former Sales Director Went from 0 to 800 units in 10 months Sep 23, 2022

Real estate is about relationships. Be it your significant other, business partner, broker, or investor, these are the connections that will add value to you and accelerate your career. In this episode, we talk about strategic and meaningful partnerships with Jenny Gou. She is a Managing Partner at Vertical Street Ventures and has acquired a portfolio of over 1800+ units to date. A former Sales Director at Procter & Gamble, she made the big jump to real estate with her husband and found the right mentor turned business partner. By leveraging relationships and running her company as a Fortune 500, they were able to achieve exponential growth in a short amount of time. As one of the founders of Vertical Street Ventures, Jenny currently oversees Asset Management and Investor Relations. She focuses on Business Strategy and execution of the business plan as well as managing relationships and communications with investors. Her overall experience in leading teams, strategy, and project management enables Vertical Street Ventures to be the best in the industry and make our communities a better place to live. Jenny graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in Business Management and received her MBA from the University of Minnesota. She is married to her husband Ronnie and has 2.5 kids (furry one included). Where comfortable accommodation meets camping: glamping is truly one of the hottest niches in the outdoor hospitality industry as more and more people seek to be closer to nature while being able to enjoy the conveniences of a home. Today, Karen L. Chenaille joins us to talk about all things glamping. From construction to setting up a team to navigating local rules and regulations, she details her own experience in building and growing her successful business. She also takes us back to when she first started as an entrepreneur and how she leveraged her 401(k) to get out of her W-2 and step into her journey of financial independence. Karen is an EXP ICON real estate agent and private investor specializing in short-term rentals. She has been investing in and operating short-term rental accommodations since 2015 and her cash-flowing portfolio includes smoky mountain cabins, glamping resorts, and Emerald Coast condominiums. She is also a general partner in the Accelerate Capital Partners short-term rental syndication.
