    The Private Practice Pro

Welcome to The Private Practice Pro podcast. I’m Kelley Stevens, LMFT, a therapist, a mom of two, and someone who figured out private practice the hard way. I started out making $16 an hour, driving over an hour each way to work, and paying a $1,000 student loan bill every month. Since then, I’ve opened three private practices in three different cities and supported more than 3,000 therapists as they build and grow their own.

This podcast is for you if you’re sitting in your office wondering how you’re going to keep your caseload full in today’s world. So much has changed with AI, big tech, and the way clients find a therapist, and every episode is focused on what’s working right now.

You’ll hear a few kinds of episodes. In my solo episodes, I break down the patterns and mistakes I’m seeing after coaching thousands of therapists, along with what I would do right now to keep your caseload full. My marketing director and best friend, Amanda, joins me for coffee talks where we take websites, SEO, and social media and turn them into steps you can actually take. In our private practice breakdowns, I look at a listener’s website, practice, and marketing and share in real time what I would change. And every so often, I’ll sit down with someone I think you really need to know.

My goal is to keep every episode focused on you and the practice you’re building, because private practice really is just a series of steps, and you only need to take the next one. ❤️

The Critical Role of Strategic Marketing and Referrals in Teen Therapy Success Jul 01, 2024
    Show notes

In today's fun episode, host Kelley Stevens engages in a deep conversation with Sara, a therapist and group practice owner who excels in assisting teens and adults. They delve into Sara's journey toward establishing a practice centered on adolescents, her clever marketing strategies, and the complexities of running a practice while maintaining a family life balance. Sara conveys her enthusiasm for group therapy and her proficiency in guiding other therapists in starting their own therapy groups. They also discuss the hurdles and strategies for maintaining therapy continuity with clients transitioning to college, and the significance of cultivating a reliable network of specialists for referrals. Sara's creative marketing efforts in a local Jewish publication and her commitment to offering services tailored to her community are highlighted as they conclude with a laugh about being mutual supporters in their professional development.

    Guest Bio:

Sara Schreiber is a licensed clinical social worker specialized in working with teens and young adults through both individual and group therapy. Sara started her solo private practice in 2021 in order to have more financial freedom and serve her clients in a way that felt more authentic to herself and her values. Sara became a group private practice one year later as another values-driven decision, when her family's needs began to change and she needed to have fewer clinical hours, but didn't want to sacrifice her income from her solo practice. Sara is passionate about helping other therapists meet their goals in private practice, whether those goals are growing their solo practice, building a group practice, adding on groups and workshops to their practice, or building more financial security within their businesses. When not seeing clients or working on her practice, you can find Sara hanging out with her husband and three children in their home in New Jersey.
