    The People’s Court Podcast

    The honorable Judge Marilyn Milian presides over the four-time Emmy award winning “The People’s Court.” For more than two decades, Milian has dispensed justice and provided legal insight in the courtroom where justice and reality collide. And now, you can take the show on the go with “The People’s Court Podcast.”

    “The People’s Court Podcast” draws on ordinary people who have filed grievances in civil court and have opted to have their cases heard and mediated by Judge Milian. Running the gamut from disputes between neighbors and family members, to dissatisfied customers suing businesses, Milian’s decisions – based on current law – are final and binding.

    Joining Milian is multiple Emmy Award-winning investigative reporter Harvey Levin, who serves as the series’ host and legal reporter. In the courtroom, Milian is joined by court officer Douglas McIntosh. Doug Llewelyn interviews litigants after a decision has been rendered in their cases.

    Fight Over Parental Rights Sep 07, 2023
    Show notes

    The plaintiff claims the father of her child lied to the police, so she got arrested and her child was taken away. She says the father put her child in the defendant’s childcare facility and she’s being denied her parental rights. She also claims the defendant is slandering her, so she’s suing for mental anguish and breach of parental rights. The defendant says the child was enrolled in her daycare by her father and social services, and the plaintiff had no parental rights at the time. She’s countersuing for emotional distress and punitive damages.

    Then, the plaintiff says he sold his double-wide trailer to the defendant, who then turned on the electricity under the plaintiff’s name and account. He says she refuses to repay him, so he’s suing for what he’s owed. The defendant says she doubts he didn’t know he was paying for it for a year, and she claims she owes nothing.

    Plus, the plaintiff says he brought his van to the defendant’s shop for repairs, but he claims the defendant faked the post-repair inspection. The plaintiff says his tires were in bad shape, but the defendant charged him hundreds, so he’s suing for a refund. The defendant says the plaintiff’s van was 25 years old and he repaired what he could. He claims the plaintiff showed up six months later looking for a refund.

    Consigned to a Loss Sep 06, 2023

    The plaintiff says he gave the defendants expensive jewelry to sell in their consignment shop. He claims they removed his valuables from their displays after an argument over payment, and now they won’t give his items back. He’s suing for their value. The defendants claim their policy states that the items become theirs if the goods don’t sell and the owner fails to reclaim them within 150 days. They say the plaintiff disappeared for a year.

    Then, the plaintiff says he brought his iPhone to the defendant’s shop for repair, but it stopped working again a day later. He claims the defendant wanted another $100 to fix it, so he’s suing for his money back. The defendant claims the plaintiff came back seven months later with a damaged phone complaining that the phone didn’t work. He says he owes nothing.

    Damages and Divorces Sep 05, 2023

    The plaintiff is suing his soon-to-be ex-wife because he claims she damaged his car. He’s suing for property damage. The defendant says her ex is lying about the damages.

    Then, the plaintiff says he bought dumbbells from the defendant, but he claims they weren’t functional after few days. He’s suing for a refund. The defendant says the plaintiff tried them out in person and said they worked. She claims the plaintiff threatened her to get his money back.

    The Dog Days Aren’t Over Sep 04, 2023
    Show notes

    The plaintiffs say their dog was attacked by the defendants’ dog. They claim the defendants’ dog knocked over one of the plaintiffs and also caused the plaintiffs’ dog to get stitches and spend three days in the hospital. They’re suing for the balance of a vet bill. The defendants say they paid for most of the bill, but their neighbor let the dog out, so the neighbor should pay the balance.

    Then, the plaintiff says she rented an apartment from the defendant but was forced to move out. She claims she never got her security deposit back, so she’s suing. The defendant argues the plaintiff melted the microwave oven, never paid rent, and broke multiple things all over the apartment. He’s countersuing for damages.

    Plus, the plaintiff says the defendant merged into his lane on an expressway and crashed into him. He’s suing for the cost of his insurance deductible. The defendant argues the plaintiff crashed into him.

    A Dreadful Decision Sep 01, 2023

    The plaintiff hired the defendant to put dreadlocks in her hair. She says the defendant did a bad job and used glue in her hair, so she hired someone else and ended up losing half of her hair. She’s suing for the cost of the dreadlocks and the cost to fix her hair. The defendant argues the plaintiff was happy with the dreadlocks.

    Then, the plaintiff says he lived in a rooming house with several other people. He claims his stuff was stolen when he was in the hospital and the defendant won’t pay him back. He’s suing for the cost of his security deposit. The defendant claims the plaintiff moved out without notice.

    Plus, the plaintiff is family friends with the defendants. She says she loaned the defendants money but has never been paid back. The defendants argue the money was a gift, not a loan.

    Can’t Compute Aug 31, 2023

    The plaintiffs, a mother and daughter, sent the daughter’s laptop to the defendant’s repair shop. The plaintiffs say the computer wasn’t ready after six months and claim that the defendant threw the laptop away. They’re suing for the cost of a laptop, irreplaceable photos, and travel expenses. The defendant argues the computer system was corrupted and he tried telling them that, but the plaintiffs never came back for their computer. He’s countersuing for unpaid labor and services.

    Then, the plaintiff says she used to date the defendant, who offered her a business deal. She claims he asked her to breed dogs with him, but then he refused to let her see the dog and won’t pay her back. She’s suing for pain and suffering. The defendant argues he and the plaintiff had a business arrangement and she backed out, so he refuses to pay. He’s countersuing for time wasted.

    Plus, the plaintiff says she rented an apartment from the defendant, and she’s suing because she can’t get her security deposit back. The defendant says the plaintiff moved out without notice and damaged the window screens. He’s countersuing for additional charges.

    A Shih Tzu Show Aug 30, 2023

    The plaintiff says he used to be friends with the defendant and sold her an English bulldog puppy, but now she refuses to pay. The defendant says she had an agreement with the plaintiff to give him a shih tzu when her dog had a litter. She’s countersuing for the cost of the puppy she gave the plaintiff.

    Then, the plaintiffs say they bought a washer and dryer from the defendant, but the appliances didn’t work and the defendant wouldn’t pick up their calls. They’re suing for a refund. The defendant admits the deliveryman forgot a part but claims the correct item finally got shipped.

    Plus, the plaintiff says he needed to rebuild the transmission and fix a broken door in his truck. He claims he paid the defendant up front but his car still wasn’t fixed after two months, so he took it elsewhere for repairs. He’s suing for a refund. The defendant says the money was a down payment and he ran out of money to fix the car. He says he doesn’t owe the plaintiff anything.

    Hot Tempers Over Missing Stove Aug 29, 2023

    The plaintiff says he rented an apartment from the defendant, who refused to give him a stove and fridge. When he confronted the defendant about it, he claims he was punched and assaulted. He’s suing for emotional distress and assault. The defendant denies assaulting the plaintiff.

    Then, the plaintiffs says they wanted to buy a limo business from the defendant and paid him $1,000, but he backed out of the deal at the last moment. They claim he’s refusing to return their deposit, so they’re suing. The defendant argues the plaintiffs missed the closing date twice, and he’s countersuing for time lost.

    Plus, the plaintiff says he’s friends with the defendant’s mom and loaned his debit card to the defendant to help him get his car out of impound. He claims the defendant then used the card to go on a shopping spree and never repaid him, so he’s suing for the amount he’s owed. The defendant argues he doesn’t owe any money because his mom gave him the card and said to spend it on anything he wanted.

    Mirror, Mirror Aug 28, 2023

    The plaintiff says he takes his car to the defendant’s car wash at least once a week. He argues the brush knocked his side mirror off, so he’s suing for the cost to fix a mirror. The defendant says the plaintiff’s mirror was fine until the plaintiff started moving it. The defendant says his car wash doesn’t cover damage on vehicles over five years old and he has disclaimers saying his company is not at fault.

    Then, the plaintiff is taking his former landlord to court because he says she blames him for breaking the washing machine. He claims it was broken beforehand. He has since moved out and is suing for a refund on his rent. The defendant says the plaintiff overloaded the washer and agreed to pay for repairs, but he never did. She’s countersuing for rent owed and the cost of a new machine.

    Plus, the plaintiffs say they hired the defendant to fix their hardwood floors. They allege the defendant’s worker scratched their fridge door with his vacuum pack, causing extensive damage. They’re suing for the cost of a new refrigerator door. The defendant says he doesn’t owe anything because he doesn’t think a plastic hose could cause that damage.

The defendant says his uncle was a tyrant when it came to living together, and he was only two days late on paying his uncle back.

    Then, the plaintiff rented a room from the defendant. He says it was a nightmare situation because he couldn’t use the kitchen and the defendant diverted his mail. He claims she kicked him out of the apartment because he wouldn’t have sex with her, so he’s suing for a refund. The defendant argues the plaintiff was the one who came onto her.
