    The People’s Court Podcast

    The honorable Judge Marilyn Milian presides over the four-time Emmy award winning “The People’s Court.” For more than two decades, Milian has dispensed justice and provided legal insight in the courtroom where justice and reality collide. And now, you can take the show on the go with “The People’s Court Podcast.”

    “The People’s Court Podcast” draws on ordinary people who have filed grievances in civil court and have opted to have their cases heard and mediated by Judge Milian. Running the gamut from disputes between neighbors and family members, to dissatisfied customers suing businesses, Milian’s decisions – based on current law – are final and binding.

    Joining Milian is multiple Emmy Award-winning investigative reporter Harvey Levin, who serves as the series’ host and legal reporter. In the courtroom, Milian is joined by court officer Douglas McIntosh. Doug Llewelyn interviews litigants after a decision has been rendered in their cases.

    Show notes

    The plaintiff says he helped out his tenant, the defendant, by lending her money for furniture and a TV, but she posted their conversations on social media and slandered him when he tried to get reimbursed. He’s suing for his money back. The defendant says the plaintiff lavished her with gifts and once stripped naked in front of her and demanded sexual favors from her cousin. She’s countersuing for money she’s out.

    Then, the plaintiff says he sold the defendant a jacket on eBay and never got payment, even though he knows the defendant received it. He’s suing for the money owed. The defendant says the plaintiff canceled the sale, and he never got the jacket since it was sent to an old address. He’s countersuing for lost wages.

    Wigging Out Oct 05, 2023
    Show notes

    The plaintiff says she hired the defendant to make a wig for her, but the hair started falling out. She claims the defendant accused her of taking poor care of the wig, so she’s suing for the cost of the wig and lost wages. The defendant says she fixed the wig for the plaintiff, and she’s countersuing for slander and lost wages.

    Then, the plaintiff says she hired the defendant to move her belongings from Nevada to Arizona, but he forgot to pack up the items in her shed. He refuses to reimburse her for the missing items, so she’s suing him. The defendant says the plaintiff wasn’t there when he was packing, and the real estate agent signed off on the job. He claims the shed was never mentioned.

    Fishy-Sounding Accusations Oct 04, 2023
    Show notes

    The plaintiff says he met the defendant at work and ended up renting a room from her. He claims she accused him of stealing $900 from her, so he moved out after she told everyone at work. He’s suing for the security deposit she owes him, plus defamation. The defendant says she caught him digging in her purse and filed a police report, and claims he destroyed items in her home. She’s filed a countersuit for damaged property.

    Then, the plaintiff says she bought a townhouse from the defendant, who didn’t disclose the terrible termite problem. She’s suing for all the fumigation fees. The defendant claims the unit had no violations at the time of the sale and doesn’t owe the plaintiff a dime. He’s countersuing for lost wages and time wasted.

    Stiffing an Ex Oct 03, 2023

    The plaintiff says she met the defendant on a dating app and loaned him money. Now that they’ve broken up, she says he’s ignoring her, so she’s suing him for repayment. The defendant claims his ex showered him with gifts and says he owes her nothing. He’s countersuing for emotional distress and lost wages.

    Then, the plaintiffs say the defendant built them a pool and retaining wall that collapsed into their yard and damaged it. They say the defendant refuses to cover the costs, so they’re suing him. The defendant says the did the work years prior and still agreed to fix the wall, which he did. He claims they’re just being greedy.

    I Spy Sep 29, 2023

    The plaintiff says she used to rent a room from the defendant, but she secretly installed a video camera to spy on her. She says her rights have been violated, so she’s suing her former roommate for rent. The defendant says the plaintiff ripped down a security camera in a common area after the police told her to put one up. She’s filed a countersuit for past-due rent and property damage.

    Then, the plaintiff says he rented a U-Haul for the defendant and her kids because he felt bad about an impending eviction, but she kept it for three additional days. He’s suing for the money owed. The defendant says the truck was towed and the plaintiff posted her picture on social media calling her a thief. She’s countersuing for defamation.

    Doggone Sad Dispute Sep 28, 2023
    Show notes

    The plaintiff says the defendant is his ex-girlfriend, and they lived together for four years. He claims she refuses to return his dog to him, so he’s suing for the cost of the dog and potential breeding profits. The defendant says the dog was a gift for both of them, and she kicked him out because he cheated. She claims the dog was killed when she jumped out of a moving car, but the plaintiff doesn’t believe her.

    Then, the plaintiff says he dropped his truck off at the defendant’s repair business, but the guy parked it on the street and it was towed. It racked up thousands in fees, so he’s suing the defendant for that money to get his truck back. The defendant says they work at the same company and he was to work on the truck in his spare time. After 18 months, the truck was stolen and the plaintiff won’t pay the impound fees.

    Deep Dysfunction Sep 27, 2023

    The plaintiff says the defendant is his mom. He claims she owes him for keeping some of his stuff and refusing to return it, so he’s suing for the items’ value. The defendant says her son was arrested for a DUI, so she took the car, which is in her name, away from him. She claims he moved out in a huff and told her to do whatever she wanted with his things.

    Then, the plaintiff says the defendant is his ex-girlfriend. He claims she borrowed money to help out a “friend,” and when he tried to collect repayment, she ignored him. He’s suing to get his money back. The defendant says she met the plaintiff in the taxi he drove, and he showered her with gifts even though they weren’t sexually involved. She denies owing anything.

    Burned Over a Bad Stove Sep 26, 2023
    Show notes

    The plaintiff says she bought a defective stove from the defendant and he refuses to honor its two-year warranty. She’s suing for a refund of the purchase price. The defendant claims the plaintiff broke the oven door, so he replaced it, but she’s still complaining.

    Then, the plaintiff says the defendant ripped her off when she bought a car from him. She claims he failed to give her the title in a timely manner, so she’s suing for her money back. The defendant says he gave the defendant a temporary title and even offered to refund her money, but she refused to return the car.

    Plus, the plaintiff says he rented an apartment to the plaintiff, who he claims painted the walls bold, crazy colors. He says he was forced to spend an extra amount to have them repainted, so he’s suing for the cost. The defendant says she lived there for 13 years and was a good tenant. She insists she shouldn’t have to pay for repainting, and she’s countersuing for a return of her security and an electric bill refund.

    Breeding Distrust Sep 25, 2023

    The plaintiff says she and the defendant agreed to mate their dogs and she was supposed to get two puppies from the litter. She claims she never received them, so she’s suing. The defendant says the plaintiff first asked for money and then puppies. She’s countersuing for lost wages and surgery.

    Then, the plaintiff says he bought a motor from the defendant, who told him it was in good working order. He claims once he got it into his car, it had no oil and made a racket. He says the defendant is a scammer, so he’s suing for his money back. The defendant claims the engine was sold “as is” and he has no obligation to return the money.

    Plus, the plaintiff says he hired the defendant to clear the leaves from his one-acre property and foolishly paid in advance. He says she only did half the work and he had to hire someone else, so he’s suing. The defendant says the plaintiff took advantage of her inexperience and underpaid her.

    Tinder Date Dashed with the Cash Sep 22, 2023

    The plaintiff says she met the defendant on Tinder and left him alone in her house three weeks after meeting him. She claims he was gone when she got home, along with $2,700 of her cash. The police retrieved $1,300, but she’s suing for the balance. The defendant claims the plaintiff gave him the money to help pay his child support and then changed her mind.

    Then, the plaintiff says she bought a used car from the defendant, who wouldn’t let her test drive it. She claims it failed inspection and she had to spend lots of money on it, so she’s suing for reimbursement. The defendant claims the car had no mechanical issues and says he’s under no obligation to return her money. He’s countersuing for emotional distress.
