    The People’s Court Podcast

    The honorable Judge Marilyn Milian presides over the four-time Emmy award winning “The People’s Court.” For more than two decades, Milian has dispensed justice and provided legal insight in the courtroom where justice and reality collide. And now, you can take the show on the go with “The People’s Court Podcast.”

    “The People’s Court Podcast” draws on ordinary people who have filed grievances in civil court and have opted to have their cases heard and mediated by Judge Milian. Running the gamut from disputes between neighbors and family members, to dissatisfied customers suing businesses, Milian’s decisions – based on current law – are final and binding.

    Joining Milian is multiple Emmy Award-winning investigative reporter Harvey Levin, who serves as the series’ host and legal reporter. In the courtroom, Milian is joined by court officer Douglas McIntosh. Doug Llewelyn interviews litigants after a decision has been rendered in their cases.

    A Lawsuit with Some Teeth Nov 03, 2023
    Show notes

    The plaintiff says she saw the defendant for some dental work, but she claims he could never get it right. She says he kept charging her for impressions of her teeth and used a dental hammer on her. She’s suing for what she’s owed. The defendant says the plaintiff went missing for a year after she ordered dentures and they no longer fit. He said he’s tried to help her over and over again and she’s never paid a penny.

    Then, the plaintiff says she bought a car from the defendant and paid him two-thirds of the price. When the car died two weeks later, the defendant took the car and won’t give it back till she pays the balance. She’s suing for the down payment. The defendant says the car works fine and claims he found dope in the dashboard.

    Plus, the plaintiff says he and the defendant became roommates after meeting at the bar where they worked. He claims his former buddy stiffed him on rent, so he’s suing for what he’s owed. The defendant says the plaintiff moved in with his girlfriend and left him holding the bag.

    Red-Light Wreck Nov 02, 2023
    Show notes

    The plaintiff says she and the defendant were close friends when he asked if he could drive her car. He ran a red light and another car hit them, and they were both injured. Now he won’t pay for the accident, so she’s suing. The defendant says the plaintiff asked him to drive and the accident was the other driver’s fault.

    Then, the plaintiffs say they dropped their dog off at the defendant’s animal care facility and got a call an hour later that their pet was badly injured. She was bleeding and had a hole in her paw requiring surgery, so they’re suing for the vet bill. The defendant says he’s been in business for 15 years and says the dog got a small cut that needed three stitches.

    Plus, the plaintiff says the defendant is his nephew. He claims he sold him a dog and was supposed to get three puppies from the litter when she gave birth, but he never got any, so he’s suing for the money he says he’s owed. The defendant claims he offered puppies to his uncle but then he declined and said he wanted cash instead.

    Burned Over a Drug Deal Nov 01, 2023
    Show notes

    The plaintiff says he and the defendant have been friends for years. He claims he’s helped him out with loans for baby food and diapers, but his friend never pays him back, so he’s suing. The defendant says the plaintiff gave him a large amount of marijuana to sell, but he and his friends smoked it. He claims the loan doesn’t exist.

    Then, the plaintiff says she bought a full-size mattress from the defendant, but he delivered a queen and it doesn’t fit her bed frame. She says he told her to bring it back, but she doesn’t have a car. She’s suing for a refund. The defendant says he’s already taken back one mattress and will refund her if she returns the mattress, which he’ll donate.

    Plus, the plaintiff says he sold the defendant a Cadillac car shell, and the defendant loved it. He hasn’t paid the plaintiff a dime for it, so he’s suing. The defendant claims the plaintiff had it lying around and says he told him he could have it for free. He’s countersuing for unauthorized removal of car parts.

    Not Getting the Point Oct 31, 2023
    Show notes

    The plaintiff claims her neighbor’s child shot a bow and arrow into her new fence, but her neighbor refuses to pay for the repairs, so she’s suing. The defendant says he told the plaintiff he would fix the fence himself because he has the experience, and he believes the repair quote the plaintiff received was too high.

    Then, the plaintiff has lived in his house for 47 years, and he claims his neighbor of 40 years had some work done to their shared fence, which damaged his side. The defendant refuses to pay for the repairs, so the plaintiff is suing. The defendant alleges she can do whatever she wants on her side of the wall, and she didn’t cause any of the cracks on the plaintiff’s side. The defendant is petitioning the judge for an order preventing the plaintiff from doing any additional work to the wall.

    Plus, the plaintiff sold his former employee two box trucks, but he claims the defendant still owes him money. The plaintiff also alleges the defendant used the trucks under the plaintiff’s license and registration and racked up tickets he didn’t pay for, so the plaintiff is suing. The defendant insists the plaintiff told him he didn’t owe any more money for the trucks. As far as the tickets and fines, the defendant claims they were $50 each, and he tried to pay back the plaintiff, but he refused to accept the money.

    Failing a Fiancé Oct 30, 2023
    Show notes

    The plaintiff and the defendant were engaged to be married, but the plaintiff says living with the defendant turned out to be a disaster. After the two broke off the engagement, the plaintiff claims the defendant refused to return the engagement ring and wedding band, so the plaintiff is suing. The defendant alleges the plaintiff still owes her for half their apartment bills, so she’s countersuing for those expenses.

    Then, the plaintiff, a licensed aesthetician, was hired by the defendant for laser hair removal and sold her a six-month package. However, the plaintiff says the defendant showed up to four appointments before calling PayPal for a refund, so the plaintiff is suing. The defendant alleges she doesn’t owe the plaintiff anything because the plaintiff runs an illegitimate business, and the defendant had every right to ask PayPal for a refund.

    Plus, the plaintiff, an Uber driver, claims the defendant rear-ended him while he was on the job. The defendant’s insurance paid for the repairs, but the plaintiff says it took four days, and he lost out on potential work, so he’s suing for lost wages. The defendant alleges the car couldn’t have taken four days to repair because the damages weren’t that extensive, and he believes the plaintiff is just trying to scam him out of money.

    Legal Cure for a Bad Manicure Oct 27, 2023

    The plaintiff went to the defendant’s nail salon. She claims the salon overcharged her and then cut her finger, which caused her extensive bleeding. She’s suing for pain and suffering and loss of modeling work. The defendant argues the plaintiff was satisfied when she left the salon.

    Then, the plaintiff did handywork for his neighbor, the defendant, but then Hurricane Irma hit their neighborhood. The plaintiff says the defendant harassed him and blamed him for damage caused by the hurricane. He’s suing for legal fees, gas, defamation of character, and loss of work. The defendant got a restraining order against him and says he ruined her house.

    Plus, The plaintiff says his cab was illegally towed by the defendant. He argues the defendant damaged his cab when it was towed, so he’s suing for car damages, reimbursement, and lost wages. The defendant says there wasn’t a tag on the cab, so he says it was parked illegally.

    Broken Bond Over a Bail Bond Oct 26, 2023
    Show notes

    The plaintiff accuses the defendant of stealing money from her bank account. The plaintiff says she gave the defendant her bank card to get money for bail, but she claims the defendant stole money and will not pay her back. The defendant is countersuing for defamation.

    Then, the plaintiff used to work and live with the defendant. She claims the defendant asked her to pay rent early, but the defendant didn’t pay and then said she was moving out, so the plaintiff is suing her for the cost of prepaid rent. The defendant doesn’t think she owes the plaintiff money because the plaintiff changed their move out agreement.

    Plus, the plaintiff pawned jewelry at the defendant’s pawn shop. She claims the defendant’s store lost her jewelry, so she’s suing for the value of her items. The defendant says he has no idea what happened to her jewelry, and they are not responsible for theft or loss. The defendant claims he offered her money and items from his catalog.

    Clocking His Brother Oct 25, 2023
    Show notes

    The plaintiff says his brother, the defendant, punched him in the face during a fight one night and broke his eye socket bone. The plaintiff required medical treatment, and he’s suing his brother for the bills, as well as pain and suffering. The defendant claims the plaintiff was intoxicated, and he punched the plaintiff in self-defense.

    Then, the plaintiff bought a china cabinet from the defendant’s store, but when it was delivered, the plaintiff says the defendant’s moving guys broke the glass and the door. The defendant promised to fix it, but the plaintiff says she’s tired of waiting, so she’s suing for the damages. The defendant claims he reordered replacement parts, but the plaintiff refuses to respond to his calls to schedule the installation.

    Plus, the plaintiff was spending time at the dog park with her dog, Bravo, when the defendants’ dog attacked Bravo and bit him in the eye. The plaintiff says the defendants refuse to reimburse her for the vet bills, so the plaintiff is suing. The defendants admit there was a light scuffle between the dogs, but they allege there was no blood or injury, and the defendants believe this is just a money grab from the plaintiff.

    Cracking Up Over a Nutcracker Oct 24, 2023

    The plaintiff says her uncle died, and the defendant — his supposed dear friend — stole all his belongings. She never gave him permission, so she’s suing for the value of the items. The defendant says he helped clean out the condo and only took a few small items with sentimental value.

    Then, the plaintiff says the defendant is his sister. He claims he bought a car from her, but it’s a giant lemon and she won’t take it back. He’s suing for a refund. The defendant says her brother drove the car and worked just fine, and she had to go to the cops because the plaintiff and his wife were harassing her.

    Plus, the plaintiff says she rented an apartment from the defendant and soon found it was unsuitable for her and her son because the neighbors were partying pot smokers and mail thieves. The plaintiff was let out of her lease, but the defendant kept some of the deposit, so she’s suing. The defendant says she has every right to withhold the money because the plaintiff broke the lease.

    Cracking Up a Neighbor Oct 23, 2023
    Show notes

    The plaintiff’s neighbor hired the defendant’s company to trim his trees, and the plaintiff claims the company illegally parked their heavy truck on the plaintiff’s driveway without his permission. The plaintiff alleges the defendant damaged his property, and he’s suing for the repairs. The defendant, a tree-trimming professional of over 40 years, insists he’s not responsible for the damages.

    Then, the plaintiff was driving on Halloween night when he claims the impatient defendant tried to pass him and sideswiped his car. The plaintiff is suing the defendant for the damages. The defendant alleges the plaintiff was the one who cut her off, and she believes he was intoxicated.

    The plaintiff purchased a food truck from the defendant, but he says when he went to pick it up, the defendant wouldn’t turn it over to him. First, the defendant said he needed to fix the radiator and the brakes. Then, the defendant said the transmission needed repair. Every week it was something else, so the plaintiff requested a refund, but the defendant refused, so the plaintiff is suing. The defendant claims the plaintiff took so long to pay off the food truck that the radiator froze up in the cold winter months, and he denies owing anything.
