    The People’s Court Podcast

    The honorable Judge Marilyn Milian presides over the four-time Emmy award winning “The People’s Court.” For more than two decades, Milian has dispensed justice and provided legal insight in the courtroom where justice and reality collide. And now, you can take the show on the go with “The People’s Court Podcast.”

    “The People’s Court Podcast” draws on ordinary people who have filed grievances in civil court and have opted to have their cases heard and mediated by Judge Milian. Running the gamut from disputes between neighbors and family members, to dissatisfied customers suing businesses, Milian’s decisions – based on current law – are final and binding.

    Joining Milian is multiple Emmy Award-winning investigative reporter Harvey Levin, who serves as the series’ host and legal reporter. In the courtroom, Milian is joined by court officer Douglas McIntosh. Doug Llewelyn interviews litigants after a decision has been rendered in their cases.

    Pontoon Boat Caper Dec 01, 2023
    Show notes

    The plaintiff rented a house from the defendants, and she claims they vandalized her pontoon boat out of spite. The plaintiff says she also suffered from mold poisoning, so she’s suing for a refund on rent. The defendants insist the plaintiff caused the mold problem due to her messy demeanor, and they say her pontoon boat was already falling apart.

    Then, the plaintiff put down a deposit for a car at the defendant’s dealership. When the plaintiff asked for the deposit back, the defendant refused, so the plaintiff is suing. The defendant says the plaintiff had to wait for his employer to verify his employment on the credit application, and when that happened, he wanted his deposit back. The defendant put in a lot of time and work for the plaintiff, and she feels she is entitled to his deposit.

    Plus, the plaintiff rented an apartment from the defendant. He claims the defendant illegally locked the plaintiff out and threw away his belongings, so the plaintiff is suing. The defendant denies owing the plaintiff a dime because he says the plaintiff didn’t clear out the apartment on the eviction date, and he left the place a mess. The defendant is countersuing for cleaning costs, repairs, and appliances.

    Shorting a Roofer Nov 30, 2023
    Show notes

    The plaintiff says he hired the defendant to mix and master four songs, but he’s still waiting for them. He’s suing the defendant for a refund since nothing was ever done. The defendant says the plaintiff only asked for one song, which he delivered. He insists he would have charged far more for four songs.

    Then, the plaintiff says she and her boyfriend moved to New York City and rented an apartment from the defendant, but the woman lied about the condition of the place. They say there was no heat, the water was yellow, and the defendant tried to record them. They’re suing for the return of their security deposit. The defendant says the neighbors complained about the plaintiffs because they smoked pot and their dog scratched the door. They also disconnected the outdoor security cameras. She’s countersuing for repairs and unpaid rent.

    The plaintiff says he worked as a roofer for the defendant’s company, but he’s getting stiffed on some of his pay. He worked hard for it, so he’s suing for what he’s due. The defendant says the plaintiff showed up early and wants to be paid for hours he wasn’t scheduled. He insists the plaintiff was paid in full.

    Not Getting The Job Done Nov 29, 2023

    The plaintiff hired and paid the defendant to re-tile her apartment floor and kitchen walls. The defendant told the plaintiff he would complete the job in a week, but the job still isn’t done after two months, and the plaintiff’s apartment is a mess, so she is suing. The defendant claims the plaintiff added more tasks to the job and that’s why it isn’t completed yet. Additionally, the defendant alleges that the plaintiff sent him sexually explicit videos, and after he rebuffed her, the defendant believes the plaintiff is retaliating with this lawsuit.

    Then, the plaintiffs say they went to retrieve their car from church one day, and it was missing because the defendant illegally towed their car from a spot they had every right to park in. The plaintiffs are suing for the tow fee they paid. The defendant insists he had every right to tow the car because the plaintiffs didn’t have the proper permit, and his manager signed off on the tow.

    Plus, the plaintiff rented an apartment from the defendant and was ordered to leave because she was a little behind on rent. When the plaintiff went back to retrieve her grandbaby’s crib and refrigerator, she claims the defendant locked her out. The plaintiff says her landlord never explained why he withheld the plaintiff’s security deposit, so she’s suing. The defendant insists he sent a detailed letter explaining that the security deposit was being applied to her unpaid rent, so he denies owing anything.

    Ticking Off a Tenant Nov 28, 2023

    The plaintiff says the defendant was her landlord, and when she moved out, she says the defendant locked her out before she could retrieve her bedroom set. The plaintiff believes the defendant wasn’t in the right, and she’s suing him for the cost of the bedroom set as well as harassment. The defendant claims he had to have the plaintiff evicted, and she still owes back rent.


    Then, the plaintiff worked for the defendant when he ran a youth basketball summer camp. The plaintiff claims she provided her own money so the defendant could rent a van for the summer camp, but he hasn’t paid her back, so the plaintiff is suing. The defendant says the money the plaintiff spent on the van isn’t his responsibility because she volunteered to help the kids.


    Plus, the plaintiff hired the defendant to install purple LED lights in her vehicle for a car show, but she claims the defendant didn’t know what he was doing and used duct tape to secure the lights in place. The plaintiff can’t show the vehicle in shows anymore and is suing for refund. The defendant alleges he doesn’t owe the plaintiff a penny because she didn’t pay him in full, and he did such a good job that she won second place in the car show. The defendant is countersuing for unpaid lights, lost wages, and time

    Not Getting a Clear Pictures Nov 27, 2023

    The plaintiff hired the defendant to take pictures at her wedding. However, the plaintiff says the photos were delivered two months late, and she wasn’t happy with the result, so she’s suing. The defendant claims she shot for 10 hours in three different locations, and she believes the plaintiff is just looking to get free pictures.


    Then, the plaintiff rented an apartment from the defendant. She alleges the defendant went into her home when she wasn’t there and stole her belongings, so the plaintiff suing. The defendant claims the plaintiff caused a fire, and when she was put up in a hotel, her belongings were stolen by someone else. The defendant believes the plaintiff is suing him as retaliation because he’s evicting her.


    Plus, the plaintiff claims the defendant got into a car crash, ran into a fence, and knocked it over. The fence fell on the plaintiff’s parked car, destroying it, so the plaintiff is suing for the damages. The defendant alleges his gas pedal got stuck in place, and he’s just lucky to be alive. The defendant believes the plaintiff is an opportunist trying to rip him off.

    Not Keeping Things Locked Up Nov 24, 2023

    The plaintiff parked his trailer in a stall within the defendant’s storage facility, but when he went to pick it up, he says it was gone. The plaintiff believes his trailer was stolen, so he is suing. The defendant alleges there was a break-in in the facility while it was closed, and she’s not responsible for the theft.

    Then, the plaintiff has known the defendant for a decade and thought she could trust her. However, the plaintiff claims she rented a car for the defendant in her time of need, but the defendant returned the car with dents on the roof and doors, so the plaintiff is suing for the damages. The defendant alleges there were no damages to the car when she returned it, and the rental company is just trying to rip her off.

    Plus, the plaintiff purchased an iPhone from the defendant, and after using it for only a month, he says the phone locked up on him. The defendant promised to fix the phone, gave the plaintiff another faulty phone, and didn’t do anything to help, so the plaintiff is suing for a refund. The defendant claims the plaintiff had the phone for three months, and he did everything to help him.

    Pay Up or Else Nov 23, 2023

    The plaintiff says he and the defendant have been friends for years, so he loaned her money to get an apartment, but she got arrested for beating up her boyfriend. He then loaned her bail money, but she hasn’t repaid that either. He’s suing her for all he’s owed. The defendant says she and the plaintiff dated, and the money was a gift. She insists he’s just jealous, and she’s countersuing for mental anguish.

    Then, the plaintiff says he’s been in business in 40 years, and he’s never had a customer as bad as the defendant. He says he was hired to replace a damaged carport and did a good job, but she still hasn’t paid him, so he’s suing. The defendant says her house was flooded and floors got ruined because the plaintiff removed gutters during a rainstorm. She insists the work was shoddy and won’t pay more.

    Plus, the plaintiff says he lives in a seniors residence and when he went to pick up his parking sticker, his car got towed. He’s suing the tow company. The defendant says there were new rules and the plaintiff got towed because he failed to correctly display his parking sticker.

    Tossing a TV Nov 22, 2023

    The plaintiff says she stored two new flat-screen TVs at the defendant’s home, but he sold them after she rebuffed his sexual advances. She’s suing for their value. The defendant says the plaintiff hinted that she wanted to move in with him even though he already had a girlfriend. He claims he told the plaintiff to pick up the TVs because he had no more room, but she abandoned them and he got rid of them.

    Then, the plaintiff says he bought a Mercedes from the defendant, who he alleges falsified the inspection sticker and sold him a bad warranty. He’s seeking the money for repairs and a new inspection sticker. The defendant says the plaintiff bought a warranty from a third party, and he’s nothing but a scammer. He’s countersuing for defamation and slander.

    Plus, the plaintiff says she and the defendant were engaged, but the defendant called off the wedding six months beforehand. She had already bought her dress and paid for the reception hall, so she’s suing for what she spent. The defendant says the plaintiff paid for everything from their joint account, so they’re both out the money.

    Ripping Off an Ex Nov 21, 2023

    The plaintiff says the defendant is his ex-girlfriend. He alleges she went into his bank account after they broke up and used his money to pay her credit card. He’s suing for what he’s owed. The defendant insists this was money she was owed after paying for her ex’s car repairs and other things. She’s countersuing for money still owed and defamation.

    Then, the plaintiff says he rented an apartment from the defendant, but the weasel is withholding his security deposit. He refuses to let it go, so he’s suing to get it back. The defendant says the plaintiff left with no notice and damaged the home badly during his tenancy, so he’s getting nothing back.

    Plus, the plaintiff says he bought a Dodge Ram from the defendant, and the entire suspension snapped three days later. He insists the defendant must have known about it, so the plaintiff is suing for a refund. The defendant says he told the plaintiff to bring the truck in so he could look at it, but he never showed up.

    A Lock Out Nov 20, 2023

    The plaintiff says she rented a basement apartment from the defendant, but the woman threw her out so her daughter could move in. She alleges the defendant tossed all her belongings outside on a snowy day, and she’s suing for what she’s owed. The defendant says the plaintiff owes her rent, brought in cockroaches, and refused to leave after a court-ordered eviction. She’s countersuing for rent and exterminator costs.

    Then, the plaintiff says he’s a screenwriter and hired the defendant to edit his film. He claims the defendant had the footage for a year and has done nothing, so he’s suing for a refund. The defendant says he’s worked with a lot of big names, but the film had a lot of technical issues. He insists he deserves to be paid.

    Plus, the plaintiff says he was driving on the highway when the defendant crashed into the side of his car and took off. Turns out she had no license and was in a rental. He’s suing for the cost of the repairs. The defendant insists the plaintiff sideswiped her, not the other way around. She’s countersuing for repairs and emotional distress.
